Here's my results from my failed attempt at thermal modding the Gigabyte Eagle AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT. Then after proper results.

This card I got from a miner on eBay for $575 & I get continuous glitching on the HDMI or display corruption sometimes.

Now the hotspot went from 100°C to 79°C from 1.150v to 1.025v using MPT MorePowerTool.

I'm really glad you sorted out the temps, but... 6500 rpm down to 4500, holy cannoli!
I've never seen (or heard) such fan speeds on mine. But then I guess you don't mind the noise, what with those six case fans and a delta on the CPU? ;)

@turbogear Thanks. I wish the guy before me didn't overclock the VRAM so much when mining then. I should RMA the card huh?
That‘s a good question if the previous owner was OCing the card during mining 24x7.
@Felix123BU can tell you more about mining and how they operate cards there. :D

If you are randomly getting screen corruptions maybe you can try to RMA it, but do you still have warranty on that?
In Germany many shops don‘t honor the warranty if you buy the card from third party on eBay except if you get a written form from the previous owner declaring that he transferred his property to you. We call this in Germany Abtretungserklärung.

Yes still have warranty. Thanks I just wish the Core was Synced up with the hotspot or actually the other way around. Cool the Hotspot down to as hot as the Core. I need to add a full length copper backplate & replace the fans on the Gigabyte Eagle, all 3 80mm fans with 3x 55cfm 70mm Deltas for 165 cfm. Delta AFC0712D.

If thermals are your issue, maybe you can consider water cooling.
I am not sure if there is a block or AIO available for your model.
Bykski often offer variety of block for different cards.
My 6900XT has also block from them.

Here you will see my setup: :D

I removed the stock core screws with the thread stops on them with regular screws & dropped the core & hotspot by -3°C, from 60°C core to 57°C & from 79°C hotspot to 76°C hotspot.

Looks like it is silicon lottery after all :|
I disassembled the card, re-applied thermal paste and made sure mounting issue is good, but no joy.
One thing that also came to my mind is maybe it is factory defected base plate? Like it is not touching die as it should. I made some photos, maybe someone will notice anything here.

But 90% it is just bad luck with silicon lottery.

As I mentioned in earlier post, I have two of these cards - Gigabyte 6900XT Xtreme Waterforce

I thought I found whats wrong, but I am just wrong, even after cleaning this heavily clogged fins, the temps are kinda the same. I have accepted now that this is just what card’s thermals looks like. Still surprised that being clogged that much didnt affect thermals…

I tested max voltage on the Gigabyte Eagle AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT which is stock voltage 1.150v & max clock from 2700mhz to 2800mhz range & 2200mhz memory & the hotspot dropped from 100°C to 92°C, which is a solid -8°C just from the pressure alone.
2700-2800 core 2200 memory stock voltage 1.150v.png

The hotspot on these card gets hotter & hotter obviously the more you overclock but they really need to release a BIOS update limiting the hotspot to 84°C rather than 110°C... IDIOTIC AMD REASONING! Please anyone who owns the GIGABYTE EAGLE card, or any GIGABYTE AMD card get on eSupport & request a BIOS UPDATE. If enough of the community request it, they will be forced to release it.

Is that the Extreme Waterforce block? If I'm not mistaken, the regular Waterforce blocks are made of nickel-plated aluminum. I didn't know the Extreme Waterforce also suffers from the same problem?

Which cooling liquid are you using?
I had ones clogging issue with EK light blue liquid. It clogged all the fins in CPU and GPU blocks.
That dark color on on the block looks like corrosion.
Looks like the nickel platting is somehow reacting with something inside the cooling fluid.
I recommend that you use different cooling fluid.

I use nowadays Aquacomputer Double Protect Ultra.

Regarding what you mentioned in a previous post about temperature differences between the two cards, that is kind of problem multiple people faced with different factory water block fitted cards.
Liquid Metal usually will help. Reapplying the past did not help other people as well.
In any case all serious overlocker of 6900XT especially XTXH cards use LM.

You need to cool these babies really well to get a good benchmark run.
If Temperatures are going above 90°C for these cards then you can kind of forget very high scores.
The performance start dropping as temperature goes higher above even 70°C on Hotspot.

I have external radiator Mo-Ra attached to my system and to get the results I show in post below, I need to get Hotspot temperature in the range of 15°C before I start benchmark by putting Mo-Ra outside on the balcony where temperature was -2°C. :D

Regarding PSU, if you want to run dual GPU setup than 1500W would get into trouble because of the higher power spikes caused by this setup.
There are some experts at Hardwareluxx forum who run multiple 6900XT but they combine more than one PSU together to prevent system from shutting down when benching.

Is my score decent for a GIgabyte Eagle AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT?
View attachment 236857
I am not too sure about what is the good score for 6600XT cards, but if you want you can press the Compare Results Online button and then look how good yours is compared to the other 6600XT that other people benched.

My 6900XT is still the second best 6900XT worldwide in TimeSpy. :D
A friend Devcom at Hardwareluxx was able to push about 120 points more from his card and got the first place now.:p
I did not get the time to push it further in the last two weeks as I was sick with COVID. :fear:
Now the temperatures outside are not in the negative degrees to try to push it higher.
I need at least -2°C on the balcony to try to push it higher by putting my Mo-Ra outside.

@turbogear Why doesn't my result show up in the results page when I'm looking at all other 3700x 6600 xt scores?
Maybe it is too low to appear on the first page.
If you are logged in to your 3DMark account than usually there is a floating windows which indicates where your score would be compared to the others.

Seems like I missed that one as I was out of order last two weeks due to Covid infection.

But I am still second place with 5950X and 6900XT combination. :D
Maybe me and Devcom need to move to Intel Core i9-12900K.

It says copper based plate on the website, it is heavy af and I cant really say how to know if its copper or aluminium other than the weight really. But I have seen posts on reddit that 3080’s waterblock is made of aluminum…

I was using EK cooling indeed, some white one which I accidentaly purchased as I thought I chose transperent one :( but like for 4 months or less really, I was shocked to find waterblocks this heavily clogged after such period of time, both gpu and cpu, it took me 6-7 hours yesterday for the whole disassembling and cleaning process.
No corrosion though, yay :D
Funny thing that the other card I purchased lately is doing great temperature wise, thats the fact that made to reconsider thermals of the first one.
And regarding PSU I think thats totally true indeed.
Thanks for the reply! I guess I will try to do some benchmarking today with two PSUs.
Girlfriend needs gpu upgrade I guess she is getting this one :D

Mining should normally not be able to damage a card if the one who used it had any idea what he was doing, and vram can be pushed up to a point, too much and it will give instability, and with these cards the limits for mining is not something that would damage a card normally. Anyway, running a card with full stock settings should give an answer regarding stability, if its stable, its fine, any OC is a gamble anyway, mining card or not.

That could be the case. I am not too sure about it.
I have a standalone license version of 3DMark. I bought it when they had it on offer for just a few euros.

I was also not into MO-RA before but joined that club a few months ago encouraged by the OC community at Hardwareluxx.

There is also a discussion thread just about MO-RA::p

By the way, how is the flow rate of your pump with multiple blocks.
The more blocks you have the more restriction especially D5 pump has lower head pressure than DDC.
I have two DDC pumpe in series; one mounted inside the case and other on the MO-RA.
My flow rate is at 250 l/h while running the pumps at 85%. :D
If the flow rate is low I think below 120l/h then the temperatures are worst.

You said one card is hotter than the other.
Did you check if it makes difference if you swap the position of the cards?
I mean with your setup the water enters and leave the two cards in opposite direction.
On lower card input port is towards the front of the case and on the upper card it is the output port that is towards the front of the case.
I never had multiple GPUs in the loop so I am not sure what is optimum way to connect them together in the loop.
