GIGABYTE Technology, a leading manufacturer of motherboards, graphics cards, and hardware solutions, today announced the all-new 2022 BRIX Extreme mini-PC series, which adopts the latest 12th Gen Intel Core Mobile Processors with Intel's most scalable client architecture that delivers superior computing performance. Benefiting from a new Intel Core design for leadership performance, these processors boost the performance significantly in the all-new performance hybrid design for superior single-threaded & multi-threaded performance. Enhanced by GIGABYTE's exclusive design, the new 2022 BRIX Extreme design integrates four display outputs, including HDMI 2.1, USB4, 2.5G Ethernet, plus the latest WiFi 6E configuration, creating the most powerful multitasking mini-PC with astounding performance and responsiveness for either gaming or content creation.

The latest 12th Gen Intel Core Mobile Processors highlight 10 nm technology, and when compared to the previous generation, these new processors feature a 10% increase in GPU performance, 24% increase in multi-threaded performance, and do so with higher clock frequencies up to 4.70 GHz. The powerful performance in these new processors sets a milestone for the mobile platform. When it comes to benchmark testing, it is inspiring to see that SYSMark 25 Performance scores improve by 14% compared to 11th Gen processors and by 28% on CrossMark too. No more needing to compromise between productivity, performance, and gaming/video performance.

12th Gen Intel Core Mobile Processors with Intel Iris Xe also take graphic performance and multimedia processing to a new level thanks to its massive 96 EUs (Execute Unit) which allows users to play the latest DirectX 12 Ultimate games at ultra settings. Able to create content and handle high-performance AI acceleration, the BRIX Extreme can also support full 8K media support via the HDMI 2.1 port. Featuring outstanding graphics performance and DDR4 memory speeds up to 3200 MHz, these processors boost processing performance with optimized power efficiency for versatile applications including gaming, daily tasks, and entertainment.

Compact Size, Full Functionality
GIGABYTE's R&D team efforts allow the new BRIX Extreme with the 12th Gen Intel Core Mobile processor to integrate comprehensive functions within its compact size (44 x 134 x139 mm). The 2.5G Ethernet design paired with WiFi 6E configuration reduces the risk of disconnections while increasing the flexibility of the network. Supporting an integrated TPM module, the new BRIX can provide hardware-level security and system protection by avoiding data leak from decryption.

Expanding the Capability for Unlimited Possibilities
GIGABYTE's latest BRIX Extreme provides two types of versions, a Slim version and a Tall version. The Tall version is for enabling additional storage capacity that allows users to install a 2.5" SSD/HDD. Also, the new upgrade kit features an I/O expander for adding a second LAN connection, a RS232 communication port, and a M.2 2280 slot. The kit hugely increases the flexibility and functionality to adapt to various applications. Combined with different I/O outputs, the mini size BRIX systems offer unlimited possibilities. Bundled with a VESA bracket, BRIX can easily be mounted behind a monitor, fulfilling various applications in different fields of industry, commerce, or education.

Native 4x 4K Display Outputs with Exclusive HDMI 2.1 Ultra HD 8K Output
Enhanced by the latest Intel Iris graphics cores, GIGABYTE's latest BRIX Extreme with a 12th Gen Intel Core Mobile processor boosts a 10% improvement on graphics performance compared to the previous generation. The new BRIX mini-PC natively supports four 4K/60P display outputs via 2x HDMI, 1x USB-C DisplayPort, and 1x mini-DP for the best in monitor compatibility. Furthermore, the new BRIX is equipped with the newest HDMI 2.1 technology. With new HDMI 2.1 standards, BRIX will deliver up to 8K resolution to your display or TV to enlarge your imagination with stunning image quality.

Super Quiet
The new 2022 GIGABYTE BRIX Extreme designed for the 12th Gen Intel Core Mobile processor has more to be discovered. In the development stage, the foresight was not only to unleash performance, but also to do so while operating cool and quiet. After precision thermal, firmware, hardware design, and other tests were conducted, the all-new 2022 BRIX became one of the highest BRIX performers, and yet the quietest.

When testing in the GIGABYTE Sound Lab, this all new 2022 BRIX ran at an almost undetectable sound level below 20dB, and that low noise level is maintained even when running heavy workloads where the sound level is still under 30dB. Moreover, when bleeding edge performance is needed, the 12th Gen Intel Core Mobile processor enables boost mode with a TDP up to 45 W, and still the noise level tops out at 35dB.

This new BRIX mini-PC also inherits GIGABYTE exclusive Ultra Durable technology and passes strict verifications that provide users with the best integration of ultimate performance, quality, and multi-functionality. This all new 2022 BRIX Extreme will be available in Q2 2022.

I'm only guessing based on prior BRiX experience (even with new paste and a clean fan) but this is likely to sound like a jet taking off.
I'm not sure who is seeking high wattage high TDP processors in mini-PC's, when the Ryzen 6000 series absolutely smashes everything else in the low power category without much heat or subsequent noise.

I'd love to see their claim put against the minisforum HX90 with Ryzen 5000.

Gigabyte? Will it explode? Jokes aside, I feel Gigabyte have done a huge damage to their reputation last year. I have 0 confidence with their products now. Anyway, I am unsure if the noise test results are accurate because most NUC sized systems I’ve used never runs that quiet. Not from Intel nor from AMD.

Got one for my parents some years ago, it never had any noise issues, but it was also just a dual core, Core-i5 I think.
This thing is bigger than a lot of their previous chassis though, so hopefully more room for cooling.
They already launched a version based on the Ryzen 5000U SoCs, so maybe they'll update that one.

Yeah, they forget to mention the lack of BIOS support after release, the poor fan implementation for profiling, etc.

Its easy to be the quietest when most BRIX sound like a Dyson.

Alder Lake iGP do not support HDMI 2.1 FRL signals above 18 Gbps natively. Check Intel's official website. CPUs support only 2.0 TMDS speed of 18 Gbps.
The only way this product of Gigabyte could possibly support "8K" over HDMI port is for the motherboard to host level shifter chip, which would convert DisplayPort 1.4 signal into HDMI 2.1 FRL above 18 Gbps; something similar to what Xbox SX has on its MB.

Gigabyte's advert clearly reads "Ultra HD HDMI 2.1", which means 4K/60 8-bit RGB and not 8K anything.
This product, therefore, could support 8K over DisplayPort 1.4 usb-c and mini-DP, with DSC. Be aware of dubious marketing.
Unless they disclose whether the motherboard hosts level sgifter chip for above 18 Gbps signals.

I have owned 4 gigabyte brix and every one of them died and returned for a RMA . Gigabyte fixed them and then they all died again after the warranty expired.

I would never purchase another one of these Brix.

And oh btw, since when is USB 2, Gen 4 pcie, and RS-232 ports considered as "extreme" anything anyways ? oh do tell..........

I bought recently a Gigabyte BRIX advertised for handling 4k. My unit couldn't handle more than 1920x1080. Their support was totally useless. In my country the Brix models announced in May '21 are still unavailable. Terrible company, am surprised that in Taiwan business as usual seems to be like in China.
