it was blown out of proportion. I take the same stance as you, Newegg made a handful of mistakes and I don't defend them for those mistakes, but my experiences have been normal, no issues. but anyone who thinks there was some nefarious company policy to fuck over their customers is just looking for stuff to be outraged over. Steve tried to act like he was doing it help the business and there for the tech community but christ he did it bc he was infuriated over his treatment, meaning it WAS personal. he laid on the I want to help you guys routine pretty thick. I mean, imagine how god damn mad you have to be to think you could just show up on a corporate campus during a pandemic and demand to see top executives all while filming it....this was their literal plan until Newegg gave them some options/limits to their requests and they agreed on terms of the meeting(s). he threw a tantrum, and then wanted to be seen as a moderator to help everyone both company and customers......I think he was trying to save face as not being seen as a millennial whine ass. While I am not a Newegg "apologist" and I did follow the fiasco at Gamers Nexus, but I have been purchasing components from Newegg for years and never had an issue.
That's just my experience though and I am sure others have had terrible problems. The issue is there are few places to go that have the amount SKUs that Newegg does.
he bought a open box motherboard, by time it arrived he didn't need it so sent it back. key point here is he didn't even open the shipping box let alone the retail box. his RMA was denied due to RMA tech stating bent pints and/or thermal paste in socket. he proceeds to flip out over their shoddy customer service so publicly flogs them with several videos. read above for some of the insane thought process they had here. in the long run it showed some returns were not getting inspected and/or allocated appropriately as working or damaged. in reality he was sent a broken motherboard from the start so it was unfair to not accept the RMA for this reason. but I don't think he handled it professionally. you can argue sure Newegg wasn't professional so why should they get better treatment? two wrongs don't make a right sorta thing here. frankly, the ppl they met acted very professional, transparent as possible, and I think honestly cared about the groups shortcomings. Steve complains they didn't share enough, all while steve doesnt offer any evidence of "all the fans who sent in emails" about their own similar situations. it should really help both the company and customers in the long run, but it was handled like a shitty soap opera as far as the drama wentI have not watched GN after the EVGA brickin controversy and their biased views depending on sponsors. So what is it about?
