After today's mobile Arc GPU reveal, Intel has also teased its first desktop Arc graphics card in a YouTube video that gives us a first sneak peek of its first desktop graphics card since the late 1990's. Although it's not clear which card Intel is showing off in the video, as the card simply says Intel ARC Limited Edition on the back, it's clear that Intel has gone with a simpler design than those early concepts the company was showing off a couple of years ago. Based on the animated render, we'd hazard a guess that this is a higher-end model, as it appears to have eight memory ICs, as well as a somewhat elaborate cooling system with four heatpipes.

Two fans can also be seen in the video, although the mounting appears somewhat unusual compared to most graphics cards. The back of the card is covered, but it's not obvious if this is a functional rear cover or just for looks. The card also has three DisplayPort and one HDMI outputs. However, what can't be seen in the video, is any kind of power connectors on the card, although it's unlikely that Intel has managed to make a graphics card that doesn't require an external power-input, at least not based on what is known about Intel's upcoming Arc GPUs. The video ends with a message of the new cards coming in the summer of 2022. Based on the video, it seems like we should expect Intel branded retail cards, albeit in a limited production run and most likely only in select markets. You can watch the video after the break.

Limited editions, lol. These will be dead on arrival with the recent price drops and the upcoming generation in the fall. Intel will have to be priced aggressively to have a chance, at 30-50% below the current gen prices.
Limited Editions....AKA Intels reference designs. Why the lol?

Prices will be what they are. Performance on the other hand is rather a complete mystery, but I do not expect them to be competitive to current gens high end.

Intel doesn't expect these to compete well and sell in large amounts; hence the limited edition designation. Rumors are 3070 level performance with bad drivers and nothing like DLSS or FSR; these will sell in very low numbers. It's good for us consumers as it will push the prices down for the cards we really want, lol.

Because it is an uninformed take based on rumors and that person seems happy to see them do bad - when the gpu market badly needs competition. People should be rooting for intel to do well, so it brings the prices down for everyone while introducing innovation as well.

Giant facepalm goes out to that person...

Raja strikes again. I wish companies would stop hiring him. He's done nothing but hurt efforts to provide nvidia alternatives. I want Intel to be competitive. Hopefully, next year they'll show up on time.

Teaser and leak are different things, you know.
Not when there have been leaked all kinds of data and tests and benchmarks and whatnot for the last 2 years. Holy fuck they need either fire their security management team or admit those aren't leaks.

What I'm saying is: stop beating around the bush.

This, Intel has been talking about releasing dedicated GPU's for like 4 years all I can think of is this gif every time i see a new announcement.

bad drivers
I somehow doubt that, intel has decades of somehow making games work surprisingly well on their integrated GPU's

Doesn't matter, the actual product wouldn't be available sooner even if they did different in that regard..
The only alternative Intel would have had today was to not showing any teaser, and that doesn't make sense for them.

I've never understood the hype of early leaks anyway (I know this isn't one). I can see why some people are interested, of course, and sites chasing clicks, but after you've seen the pattern repeating for a few products or more it's just gets less appealing.

Remember folks, Intel doesn't have to be anywhere close to competitive at the high end to make a ton of money or help end the GPU shortage. Right now the most in-demand cards are and always have been the low to midrange cards. All they need is something competitive with a 3070 or below and they'll make a ton of money and everyone will win, even if you end up buying a 3070 or AMD equivilent simply because the person who would have gotten your card before you no longer needs it.

They forgot to render the power jacks.

This. Intel's drivers are sparse as far as fine-grained controls, but they have always been rock solid stable, with very few exceptions.
Well to me it looks a lot more air restrictive than some XFX cards right now ha.

Yeah, but it is the Limited Edition.

If you want decent cooling you'll have to pay up for the Unlimited Edition.

If their top card is $499 and as good as a 3060/6600 it will sell like hotcakes used when McDonalds was undisputed.

Years of "leaks" and a shitty render is the best Intel can do? Not even an actual prototype with wood screws? No performance numbers against competitors? And releasing after Lovelace?

The more about Arc I hear, the more dead in the water it sounds.

It is because Mint Green Arrow and chartreuse eye will already have launched a new gen, so bintel is already yesterday's news.

If I could find the source (it could have been here on TPU ages ago), the discreet cards are targeted for low mid-range performance. Anyone expecting more is a fool.

I'm not seeing that. To me, this looks like a solid cooling solution. We'll see what happens in the review testing though.

Looks like the air as to go down around and back up from the card, which i can see might be good to moving all the air and cooling the back plate to possibly ?.

It's interested for sure just cannot help thinking it work better without the restrictions of the over hanging back plate.
