ASUS today unveiled its highest-Wattage variant of the ROG Thor line of premium power supplies. The new ROG Thor 1600 W Titanium comes with not just an enormous amount of power, but also the latest connectivity, including an ATX 3.0-compliant 16-pin connector that ASUS specifies can deliver 600 W of power. There are also as many as ten 8-pin PCIe power connectors, two 8-pin EPS, a 24-pin ATX, and a dozen SATA power connectors.

Under the hood, the ROG Thor 1600 W Titanium uses high-end GaN FETs in its switching circuitry, and a single +12 V rail setup that meets 80 Plus Titanium and Cybenetics Titanium efficiency. The 135 mm fan can stay completely off until 800 W load, thanks to an array of heatsinks designed by ASUS, which along with the low overall noise, earn this PSU Cybenetics Lambda A++ acoustic rating. ASUS is backing it with a 10-year warranty. The company didn't reveal pricing.

GaN Seasonic, huh? Interesting. Saw a whole bunch of vague marketing pieces about them adopting GaN tech in this 1600W Titanium platform (Prime? Prime-equivalent?), but nothing up till now.

Seasonic really didn't deliver at all in the SFX-L and SFX arena, but with GaN in their next gen?

edit: completely missed the fact that the AX1600i already leverages GaN. Guess Seasonic has some catching up to do.

Let the PSU "wattage wars" begin... Next these companies will be marketing their PSUs by claiming that they utilize the same components found in industrial welders and electric arc furnaces

I was planning to get the 1000W version until I figured the supposed 12 pin connector does not fully adhere to the new standard due to missing connectors on the PSU. So even though Asus included the 12 pin adapter, it could only support around 450W. I am not sure if they addressed the issue. Buyers better check before buying.

How so? You'd normally install with the fan facing down.
Yes, but with the ROG THORs if you want to see the OLED screen the fan MUST be facing up.

Why do you think it's Seasonic?

Seasonic doesn't have the capability to make a 1600W. Never mind one with GaN.

It's actually a Wentai Aiden 1616W is Asus clothes.

This might be my next psu. I still think AX1600i is way better if this is indeed the Wentai Aiden, there may be changes here made by Asus maybe? Only reviews can tell.

Just assumed since every other Asus SKU is Seasonic, including the Thor II parts that released concurrently with the 1600. And a bunch of vague PR-speak about SS' GaN 1600W platform (but it's just that, only a "platform"). But now I know, had no idea aris made those short reports:

Cybenetics_Evaluation_Report_Asus ROG_Thor 1600Τ.pdf

Power design reaches 99 percent efficiency - eeNews Power

Since just this one is the Wentai unicorn, I'm guessing the 1kW and 1.2kW Thors are still a better choice if 1600W isn't actually needed? Or in any case, AX1600i exists

Oh I see. That's a very disappointing screen, I thought that was print and there was a large display on the other side.
