AMD Ryzen 7000 Series Processor Spotted Running on MSI MAG B650 Motherboard at 1.5 Volts

Its the layout of those SMDs that keeps the lid open like that.
Exactly, you asked where else would the put them, and I replied under the lid like before.
My point was that I don't think there's anything that stops AMD from putting the SMD's under the lid, it's just that this is a better solution.

Plus, cut outs provide more surface for heat dissipation.
How is having a smaller contact area between the lid and the cooler a good thing? I'm pretty sure the CPU cooler provides more cooling than the air around the CPU.
Those cutouts will be like air pockets once the cooler is mounted, although probably a better cooling solution for the SMD's than having them under the lid.

As we saw with 5800X3D, 105W TDP =~110W power draw, so...
my 5800X can easily reach 120W, and my 5900X can reach 165W , under the same 105W "TDP". So you are far from the reality...

Are you a prophet maybe knowing from now what Zen4 CPUs will consume? The latest AMD CPU consumes close to 110W with a TDP of 105. As for those CPUs you mention owning, the max power draw of both is close to 140W when PBO is on and power limits are on auto. If you want to make them consume 105W max, you can easily do so in the UEFI where you just put this limit in the CPU section. I do so for my 2600X and it consumes 95W max (equal to its TDP) and not 128W that would if I left the UEFI's auto power limit even when the voltage reaches 1,5V when 1-2 threads only are boosting. So, educate yourself before verbally attacking anyone. :toast:

Educate myself ? Said from someone that think PBO is optional in and high end Zen 3 …
Anyone half competent is using curve optimizer on Zen 3.
And btw both my Zen 3 are undervolted so you clearly don’t know what are you speaking about…

Check out my CPU's max voltage at 1,5V, the max temp at 62C (room temp at 21C) and the max power darw at 95W as I setup this limit in UEFI. That setting goes from 45-95W when manual and for auto it goes to 128W.

As for the curve optimised, its purpose is to allow OC&UV at once through the ability to adjust each core seperately. Great feature but nothing to do with the power limits.

you are using a totally unrelated old low-end Zen+.
AMD TDP definition is a joke, especially regarding Ryzen 7 and 9.
