the games don't run fine, and actually it completely removes all the third party games from the system, much worse than any previous nintendo console... FIFA for exampleIt is kind of a home one. My mate Darren has never used it portable, it is always in the dock, so therefore is as good as a home console. I really cannot see Nintendo making a big style home console. When you look at the games on the switch, which run perfectly fine on the switch hardware, so why would they need a more powerful console? The USP of the switch is the portable and docked uses which they would lose with a home console and would also have to compete with the well established PS4 and Xbox.
He said it was the most popular console ever made. And he was wrong. Nothing you said changes anything. You are now pretending I was responding to a different statement. It is popular, not the "most popular ever made". Outselling the PS4 doesn't "beg to differ" the statement that it is the most popular ever made. There are 7 consoles that outsold it in the US alone. The Xbox 360 way outsold the PS4 in the US, and the Switch has a long way to go to top the 360 in the US. And the DS and PS2 are miles ahead of both. The PS5 is 19 million which is not even close to the others.
Nintendo has done so well in the handheld market, they near own it, and have no reason the make a full size console really.
Looking forward to the switch 2
I think this begs to differ.

It may be outdated from PC user perspective, but Switch is really enjoyable platform if you're not that interested in specs of it
You reply to my comment and completely ignore the entire point of my post. The Devs are complaining about the hardware. They are the who I was talking about... What I want to see is Nintendo put some money into their consoles. It doesn't need to PS5 or XSX level either.This. When you ignore the specs and focus on the content offered, the specs become irrelevant. The one exception, 2160p.

Well I'm talking about a home console, not a Switch successor. Switch 2 at best would be half of the 3050, and more likely 1/4. Half the 3050 in a mobile device would be pretty great actually. The GTX 750 was 2 generations old when the Switch launched, as Maxwell and Pascal were already available. Half the RTX 4050 would be 2 generations better than the last launch. The current Switch's GPU is about half of a GTX 750 so yeah, I wouldn't hold my breath.

I like your thought process and I would love for Nintendo to bounce back and be a powerhouse once again. However, the current Switch is 393 GFLOPs and docked it 500 GFLOPs... Devs are working magic on this damn thing. If they can turn around and push a 10-12 TFLOP system, bruv...the games would be Godlike. Trust me, I would love nothing more than a Nintendo system with that type of power...I've been let down too many times in the past. The last Nintendo system I was wow'd by the specs was the 16-Bit Super Nintendo. After that Turbo-Graphx 16 CD(US model) and Playstation 1's specs were unbelievable and Nintendo was never the same again...but they still had amazing games.A 4050 will be about the same as the PS5/Xbox, so that's not much to ask after a node shrink and 3 years later. Yet again, this isn't about number of consoles sold. Its about Devs creating games on the Switch. I got the OG Switch and my son has the Switch Lite... I am a supporter of Nintendo as I like their games. Hell, I'm supporter of the big two as well. Three PS5s, 1 XSX, three gaming computers in my house. I'm only telling you this as I don't have a dog in this fight. When someone speaks "negatively" about one thing or the other, there comes a defense force which completely misses the point being made.Nintendo also is the only one that sells their console at a profit. They are doing fine. They know their market and they have great IP.
I don't have a switch, I use a emulator on my pc. Don't have any console as they're all a bit pap. Guess you love them though probably why you get so worked up about comments on a forum. Chill out broThere's a weird Nintendo brain fog out there you run in to over and over. I was getting irritated because someone said something simple "it is the most popular ever" and I said "no it isn't, here's the proof" and then they just change the topic to "it outsold the PS4" which, who cares, has nothing to do with the topic. You see this everywhere Nintendo is discussed. Constant boostering. Doesn't matter if people like it or not like it, they have to like it. Doesn't matter that it has been outsold by 7 other consoles in the US, it has to be the most popular ever. Doesn't matter that Nintendo stock is down and they are selling half as many consoles now compared to 15 years ago, they have to be the most successful they've ever been. Their top selling game is a port of a Wii U game. I'm a huge Nintendo fan, the company is not doing well. No new Mario Kart, that's a first. No new "insert game here" many of their major franchises.
Nintendo is suffering like many companies, unable to get games out. Zelda port, Donkey Kong port, no Metroid, no Mario kart, the list goes on.
Nintendo has many games that would please me with a "high end system". The exact same games at 4k/60 instead of 900p/25 fps. The desire is there because Nintendo operates a closed platform. Imagine Apple only sold the Mac Mini and not he Studio or Mac Pro. Missing half their customers. A cheap home console could just play the exact same games. Nobody is asking for a "high end" system, I'm asking for a system based on the slowest upcoming nVidia video card. The slowest and cheapest GPU, that's what I'd like in a Nintendo product. Contrast that with PS and Xbox launching with the most high end and newest stuff. I'm not asking for power, I'm asking for something that isn't 10 years out of date.
Talking to Switch lovers is like talking to a wall. They aren't the traditional Nintendo fan, like myself, that grew up with their products. I've seen a lot of people use their Switches like a Linus blanket, they carry it around like a pacifier. They are the gameboy users. And they like to confuse the portable buyers as home console ones. It's marketing 101, successfully brain damaged a lot of people. I've been pluggin my Nintendo portables in to my TV for years and it never confused people until the marketers latched on to it.
The majority of people think like me, but the media pretend otherwise. The PC + Xbox + PS market is several times larger than Nintendo's market. It is split in to three, so people can pretend Nintendo is more successful. It's like having 4 political parties, but 3 are on one side and make up 60 percent, but one makes up 40 percent. You then pretend that the 40 percent is the majority.
exactly
Not true. Also not relevant. If Sony makes $250 per year on each console sold because of software, just like Nintendo, who cares where the money comes from, hardware or software. Just like Nintendo makes more than 80 percent of their profit from software. Who cares about the 20 percent, does that matter to you, the consumer?
Anyways I've said my piece. Would like the media to not just push the Switch all the time with false headlines. You've seen the "Switch top selling" headline everywhere even though it is patently false. Call me back when it passes the PS2 and DS.

The PS1 was the console that killed the arcade. I know the SNES was a catalyst but the Graphics and Games on the PS1 were better than the arcade at the time. Even though they only sold 100M I would say about 500 million kids got to enjoy doing that on a Friday night (sometimes into Sunday morning). Nintendo is Nintendo though. There are plenty of people that enjoy the Switch from Young Families to Senior homes so it is more of a main stream entertainment system than a Gaming console.Playstation 1 at 100M sales is IMHO ten times more impressive, because it dates back from an age where gaming was niche. Gaming today is simply mainstream, 100M is a figure that we will see, and already have seen quite a few times now. On a global market of 4-4,5 Billion potential customers its not a strange or unique thing

I don't have a switch, I use a emulator on my pc. Don't have any console as they're all a bit pap. Guess you love them though probably why you get so worked up about comments on a forum. Chill out bro
Which version of the Shield? The first one had a Tegra3 SOC. The NS has a slightly customized version of the TegraX1.Wasnt the first switch just a Shield?
With the exception of the WiiU, every one of the systems you just named are among the top selling systems of all time. Even the GameCube closely matched the OG XBox.The Gamcube was an actual Good Console but no one took it seriously, same with the Wii, WiiU, DS, 3DS, Now the Switch, even though it's a good console.
Actually, YOU started the aggression, the rest of us were just conversing. You used words like "panties in a bunch" and "chill out bro" and passive aggressively attack others while spouting falsehoods about the Switch.
Yes he does and I'll join him. Take Tigger's advice, don't get your panties in a bunch and chill the hell out.You know exactly what you are doing.
aktpu did not quote you and therefore the context of my response was directed exclusively at their comment. I wasn't responding to you at all, so you taking issue with my comment was not needed. You're right though, water under the bridge. You clearly co-signed the point he made regarding my post with "This". It's all gravy Lex. Water under the bridge.
However, this I'm going to directly respond too: Silliness. The Switch is an excllent piece of hardware. It's specs are STILL reasonable and provide for an excellent gaming experience which is why it has remained popular with gamers. It's starting to get a bit dated which is why Nintendo is working on a new version. However, they're in no hurry because they don't need to be. Gaming is not all about hardware specs like it once was because hardware has become so powerful that making amazing games no longer needs top-of-the-line, bleeding edge hardware.Based on their track record... I guess it will be another outdated slap of hardware, where the devs have to create miracles just for their games to play on it.

Heck yeah it did. Mortal Kombat was the arcade killer imo. Damn do I miss 12-18 hour gaming sessions with 3-4 of your friends over to your house competing against each other for bragging rights. There are plenty of people that enjoy the Switch from Young Families to Senior homes so it is more of a main stream entertainment system than a Gaming console.
Regardless of how you feel about this matter, I've read enough articles in which Devs are wanting a stronger system to develop for. You can defend the system as much as you like, but it doesn't remove that fact. The Switch has one of the best RPGs I've played in recent memory, Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition. So for me to say there aren't good games, that would be a lie. Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3...this game could have used a stronger system - long ass loading times. This system while popular as hell, is underpowered. I could only imagine what they could achieve with the Series S like power.Which version of the Shield? The first one had a Tegra3 SOC. The NS has a slightly customized version of the TegraX1.

So keep reading. Gamers want a faster version of the Switch too. You failed to understand the context of what I said. That's on you.Regardless of how you feel about this matter, I've read enough articles in which Devs are wanting a stronger system to develop for.
That is an opinion and subjective with it. Could it use and update? Sure, and no one is going to say they don't want better specs. But do gamers need better specs? Not really. Games on the Switch are of exceptional quality and are a ton of fun. Super high end specs just aren't needed anymore, unless you want raytracing at 4k. And to be fair, with Nintendo researching new hardware based on NVidia tech, the next iteration of the Switch might just have RTX at 4k. That would kick ass! Outside of those two features?....This system while popular as hell, is underpowered.
