i just got an XFX RX 560 4GB off facebook too :)
the sticker on the back of the card says its the "RX-560D4S VC.0
gpu-z 2.46.0 reports:
GPU Baffin
ROPs/TMUs 16/56
Shaders 896
Pixel Fillrate 19.1 GPixels
Texture Fillrate 67.0 GTexels
Memory Size 4096 MB
Bandwidth 96.0 GB/s
GPU Clock 1196 MHz
Default Clock 1196
Memory 1500 MHz
Default Clock 1500 MHz

I would like to unlock my shaders and increase frequencies if possible.
i have 5600x cpu so no onboard graphics. only have the rx 560d for now.
Just as a bit of advice - if the card is working and you dont have a spare GPU (or onboard graphics), dont try BIOS modding.

If you *need* this graphics card to have a working PC, don't kill it chasing overclocking - especially before you know if it has any issues as you received it

it is my only gpu, i do not have onboard and this is why im doing my research so good right now.
i need to flash it correctly the first time.
i might have a way to borrow a gpu if i do get into too much trouble.
still want to do it if there has been success with this specific card.
thanks though

Give me time

Micron HF is on the card

1002 67EF 1682 956D

4096MB 4GB

Stock bios for reference.

@tdbone1 is your card single fan or dual fan?

Answered single fan from the pn

Let me see if I can find these (896SP)
113-P11_170217_14CU_4GB_D5_HM_6G_DSF_W8

(1024 SP)
113-P11_170217_16CU_4GB_D5_HM_6G_DSF_W8

This is the latest bios for your card and is the closest match but is 16CU (1024SP)

2017 12 23

Here are others

Get ati/amdvbflash from here and follow this guide.

Use this guide

Then follow this

These versions also work for older cards
AMDVBFLASH
Versions 3.15, 3.20, 3.31:
Once you extract the .zip to its own directory. Find the directory and change it's name to something simple,
move it to the C: drive

Move your BIOS ROM INTO THE AMDVBFLASH Directory you created to make things simpler to find

Open the directory/folder, double click AMDVBFlashDriverInstaller.exe and allow it to install
YOU MUST INSTALL THIS FOR AMDVBFLASH TO WORK, YOU CAN UNINSTALL IT USING THE EXACT SAME .EXE

open your start menu and type in CMD, right click on it and open it as administrator, YOU MUST DO IT THIS WAY, NO EXCEPTIONS

at CMD, type in this
CD \ which takes you to the C:\
then this is an example CD C:\AMDVBFLASH\AMDVBFLASH3.31
you are now in the folder where AMDVBFLASH.EXE is in

type in this C:\AMDVBFLASH\AMDVBFLASH3.31\amdvbflash -i
that will identify the GPU with the number 0 (ZERO), 1 etc should be the only one gpu.

then type in amdvbflash -unlockrom 0

then type in amdvbflash -p -fa -fp 0 biosname.rom
(-fs command is optional and may not work in all versions)

biosname.rom is just an example

press enter, let it complete, follow prompt on the cmd line, once all complete exit CMD and restart computer.

For ati/amdvbflash 2.93 you use this link then find it under 4.68 Show Older Versions

Download atiflash/amdvbflash 2.93

Follow these steps carefully:

1. Open your "C:" drive in Windows, create a new folder, call it atiflash.

2. Extract the contents of atiflash_293.zip to the "C:\atiflash" folder

3. Find the bios file you downloaded and rename the bios file to biosname.rom

(Biosname.rom is just an example, change it to match your card model in 5 characters with .rom on end)

4. Move biosname.rom to the "C:\atiflash" folder

5. Open the start menu, type cmd, when cmd.exe appears right click it and hit "Run as administrator"

6. At the command prompt type in cd\ and press enter until only C:\> is on the screen.

7. Type in cd/atiflash and press enter, you should see C:\atiflash>

8. At the C:\atiflash> prompt type in
amdvbflash.exe -unlockrom 0
(there is a space between the e and -unlockrom and 0)(0 is the number zero)
press enter and you will be prompted that the "ROM Unlocked"

9. At the C:\atiflash> prompt type in
amdvbflash.exe -f -p 0 biosname.rom
(there is a space between the .exe and -f, and a space between -f and -p and 0)press enter.

Follow directions on screen and if flash is successful exit the command prompt and restart, windows should show up on screen.

@Final_Fighter does bios mods
thanks for all that detailed info.
i have a few questions if you dont mind.
01 this is nothing like the guides i have been seeing as far as pulling the bios with gpu-z,then edit bios with HxD, load modded orig bios in polaris bios editor and save to fix crc error, flash that file atiflash, run the atikmdag patcher on the drivers?

are you sure this is the correct file 16 cu 1024 shaders 4GB to flash to my 14cu/16cu 896 shaders? do you need any more info off the card? maybe a better pic?
i use windows 11 and i have csm disabled in bios
02 is atiflash/amdvbflash better?
03 will i need to use the atikmdag patcher (driver patcher)?
thanks for all the detailed info and i have seen you in other threads (especially for this gpu) and this method of not using your own orig bios off the gpu is different than a simple edit for sure.
i have compared the bios's and they are nothing alike :)

Well i compared all info from the gpu vbios collection to your og bios from your screenshots and that is how I found those 4 files. The Device ID: 1002 67EF, Subsystem ID: 1682 956D, Micron HF memory, and then the Beginning Sequence of your PN match up 113-P11_170217_14CU_4GB_D5_HM

113-P11_170217_16CU_4GB_D5_HM

It took me a bit because some p/n were 113-P11_16.

I've helped users crossflash their rx 5700s into X models by the methods above. Same for Vega 56 to 64

I will say that even modded bios files are no guarantee of success. But with the uploads I provided are stock files, so you may have a great success of unlocked shaders. I provided the 896 bios above as a reference point because it matched your exact pn from the gpu-z screenshot.

Vbios flashing is harrowing no matter what, its why you must have a backup plan.

If you mess up in a hex editor it can brick the card. The files I provided above are untouched, with that written, you shouldn't require a patcher, just a driver uninstall and driver install.

@tdbone1

I wrote the amdvbflash guides above so I could just copy and paste them in threads or just share the link to the guide

No, just ensure you have a backup plan, average is 95-99% success rate.

It's a lot less risky to use legit, unmodded files than it is to hack your own with a hex editor - Eida(gah i cant spell his name) is an expert on this, you can definitely trust his advice.

That said, find any information he requests and double and triple check it all - an easy example is your card may already be bios modded or crossflashed, and only info from the hardware itself can tell us that

Hello
As @eidairaman1 said earlier, you should flash an original BIOS into your card rather to edit it.
RX5xx was the last card made by AMD that let you do that crossflashing.
If you have doubts about it , then don't do it.
But on the other hand as an RX5xx lover i could tell you that i own more than 48 pieces from this card.
Most of them are crossflashed.
And believe me i am not using the producer BIOS rather i used another producer BIOS and force flashed in some of them in order to achieve my goal.
I have more Sapphire Pulse RX580 8GB that i crossflashed them with XFX rx 580 8gb BIOS.
Since you will have the original BIOS saved in a safe place then nothing to worry.
You will be able to revert it at any time.

OK I took the plunge and did it :)
its always a little scary when its your only gpu and you are a gamer (been flashing gpu's for a while now and have had to use a diff gpu to flash the bad gpu before).
ok i did it with ATIFlash 2.93 along with the 1st file you linked me to where you said its the most like my gpu but with 1024 shaders and 16CU
most like my gpu
here are a picture of my commands i did right up to when i restarted computer (i chose to shutdown instead manually).
Screenshot 2022-06-12 015415.png

From a Cold Start (after i shutdown) i get a yellow screen all the way up to right before the login screen on windows 11 then it goes to normal. i can also hit del key to get into bios and colors are normal there too.
It is a yellow screen on restarts too it appears

Thanks eidairaman1

im now wanting to overclock this gpu and memory.
i did see a vga bios link you sent that did have the memory set alot higher then stock but i think i will test with furmark and msi afterburner first then see if i can get it that high stable.

thanks again guys

almost forgot.
here is my gpu-z ss

it dont seem like this card is too stable when i oc the gpu at all do i just leave it at 1196mhz
the memory only stable to 1600mhz i believe and i not sure if it changes anything when i set power to max or at default.

Well. let's go into details a bit.
In order to OC something at a video card ( GPU or Memory), the video card need to have the cooling system very performant.
I mean at that consumer lvl. To go into more details, you need to have a good contact between that GPU itself and the cooling system.
Since they can't produce a perfectly flat surface for the GPU and cooler, we use that paste made by many known producers to fill the gap.
But do not forget about the memory chips that in some cases are not well cooled.
You need to use a very good quality product (thermal pad) in order to transfer the heat to the cooler.
So because you do not have a top model from the brand (570, 580 and 590) you should focus on reaching the good thermal transfer for your GPU and memory.
Then and only then you could thing about OC-ing

Sometimes unlocking shaders is not a guarantee of pushing the card further in OC or even stable, if you get any instability, go back to the og bios then OC. Most 560D parts were 560s locked down due to faulty sections of the die to not waste, but not all are damaged, thus to meet yields. You may try to increase volts a little. this being a Single Fan Card I would suggest replacing pads and the compound on the die or water cooling it as im not sure if there were any heatsinks made to mount to a 560. (rajintek/gelid/arctic cooling)

ahhh
good info there.
but who says i need to cool? :)
while running furmark with settings:
1080p
AA = disabled
unchecked for full screen.

hwinfo64 reports like 68 watts total for the video card and like 48C for the gpu vrm or something while showing like 68C hotspot i think.
while using afterburner and maxing out the power limit slider i dont think i really noticed more watts being used in hwinfo64.
also in afterburner i can not set manual fan curve.
maybe i should just try altering the original bios and make bios edit then reflash gpu firmware and then patch the driver?
i mean maybe this bios isnt fully compatible. that yellow screen until right before login is strange and also strange behavior with afterburner.
i had something overclocking correctly before because i did see the gpu hotspot temp go up to 80C when i unlocked power limits and increased gddr5 from 1500 to 1700mhz
so maybe by increasing the memory freq makes it draw more power and therefore get gpu hotter...?

The memory controller is integrated in the gpu.

dont use furmark. ever.

It used to destroy GPU's, and so drivers deliberately underclock and limit GPU's when it's running to prevent that - it's useless.
Go run unigine heaven or 3Dmark.

the unlocked shaders may not clock as high as the others, or the higher power draw might cause issues elsewhere. Unlocking shaders often reduces overclocking - they were disabled for a reason, and sometimes that reason is they couldnt reach the advertised speeds.

As for overclocking the memory, you may get no performance gain at all in some tests and titles and if you clock too far you may lose performance even if there are no obvious errors or crashes.
(ECC on the VRAM can cover up errors at a performance loss, or you may draw power that could be better used for the GPU. my 3090 is a great example, where overclocking the VRAM can use so much power it throttles down the GPU (~60W at stock)

if i wanted to flash my orig bios back would the command be the same exact command i used to flash the 1024 shader bios i mentioned before?
"amdvbflash.exe -f -p 0 biosname.rom" but with my orig bios of course.
i would like to try and edit the two lines and see what happens.

Second hand RX 560s are probably better off avoided altogether at this point.

There are multiple reports of their failures of similar modality, and I think mine was actually exactly the same as OP describes - except I bought it brand new years ago, and it started happening in recent months. I ended up writing it off and just got a new card.

See also.

i think i got a 560 that can be converted to 1024 shaders and run just fine. im getting a next gen gpu. already have the CC to put it on. just got this thing to hold me over to what i thought was july but looking like sept now. might have to get another gpu to hold me over that long although this one does work with BF4 ok but can not do BF 2042 (i know the game is bad but still).
idk what to do. trade mine and add some cash maybe for an rx 580 possibly.
i have 1k to get a new gpu when they come out. so just got to wait it out but damn...

i forgot to add i just did flash back to original bios i pulled from the card.
gonna try and edit it now but not sure about running that app that mods the drivers.
i dont think windows 11 will like it with secure boot. enabled

well i just had an ordeal.
i flashed back to my orig bios that was on the card and edited it then resaved it with another app to fix the CRC and then i flashed it and it told me to restart.
it said something about an unsigned driver and never booted again.
lol
i had to borrow my sons gpu so i could reflash this one with the yellow screen one that is most like mine but with 1024 shaders enabled.
guess i will just leave the overclocking alone and leave the unsigned drivers alone as secure boot is enabled in my bios after you clear cmos.
default is on or enabled for tpm, secure boot and csm disabled on my aorus x570 elite wifi mb.
so i would probably need to disable those but then windows 11 wont boot i think.

@eidairaman1

are those other 3 bios's you linked me too all signed drivers?
i dont think i would try the one with the overclocked memory but i might try the other two and see if one of those might overclock better then this one i have or maybe one of those other two bios's will not have the yellow screen?
do you know anything about that mabye?

Yes all the files I provided are official bios, even your 896 stock bios I referenced the 1024 sp bios from.

Shoot a Message to @Final_Fighter and he might be able to guide you in modding your stock bios
