I am looking for a new keyboard and want some programmable keys so I can use macros ... However, I am not sure the extent of how much you can actually program the keys, can you get like 30 keystrokes out of them and then repeat a set number/infinite?

Yes, I know software can do this, however it would be nice if I don't need to install another software and all of that. Especially since the keyboards I am looking at will come with their own software.

Right now the leader is: Corsair K100 RGB Optical

Anything else I should be looking at that would fit this need?

As long as there is a macro record button on the keyboard, they should do what you require.

Hi,
Yeah I haven't looked into keyboard features to much G & M keys are a mystery :eek:
Nothing obvious on Logitech about setting up micros and have not noticed a record key as mentioned above

On the other hand my mouse redragon 901 makes it pretty easy to setup custom function key combos which I do use quite a few of them.

yep, cant find anything on their site and dont want to go through all the youtube reviews to see if they discuss it ...

yep, what keyboard is that?

Is that the Icue software or whatever its called? So, I can record keystrokes ... but can only be ran once on the push and not setup to run multiple times?

Several Logitech keyboards and mice have had the ability to make macros, for years, its current software is G-Hub. I just bought a Razer Basilisk and their software looks likes a macro for any key. Even Windows has the ability to turn a keyboard key into a macro, tho it is somewhat more complicated than using third party software.

I was planning on getting a K100 soon because Log9itech has a horrible problem with double striking keys, and some keys loosing one of rgb colors, and than there is double clicking the left mouse button on some mice. So, yea my next purchase will likely will be a Corsair cuz I am used to using G-keys.

Yes it is iCue. I am not sure if I understand your question - do you mean you have to hit one of the G keys to activate a pre-recorded macro? If that is the question, yes you have to press the G key to run the macro. Check out this video and see if it will help you -

Most software macros offer a "spam" option. You just tell it once, or repeat until the key is released.

yes, but also like once I push G1, run 5 times ... type of thing. I watched the video and saw how iCue mostly works ... it might work for what I need, if I cant get it to repeat, then I just might have a really long recording lol

I've got a Corsair K95 RGB and never even install the software, hate software crap. I do use macros when I play D3 for example and in that case I use a Logitech Gamine Software. It integrates with most of my games well, actually works and w/o all the Corsair bloat crap.

Yup that's what I use it has upto 15 different macro memories or you can just go with the default setups which are quite comprehensive

Logitech offers 3 options, those two and toggle on/off.

I always wondered if LGS was usable on other brands in that way. TY

I have had no problem with iCue so far. It works really well for me. If you have a solid system you shouldn’t have any issue.

If the bundled software isn´t enough, there is always Autohotkey (https://www.autohotkey.com/); goto other downloads for no install zip file

Not very user friendly as Logitech/Corsair/... are but macro from simple repeats to programming automation, custom keystrokes, mapping to any key, mouse button, joystick, pad.

You make your script and save to .ahk files, either make windows choose how to open them or install and it should be setup.
After that it sits next to the clock in taskbar and awaits for the keystrokes for macro activation.

This is was it looks like, macro for a spin-attack when pressing mouse back button in Warframe. ( v = crouch, e = melee attack)
Code:
{
; comment Warframe spin attack, remember to change keybind v to hold crouch

*XButton1:: ; on Mouse Back Button
    SendInput {v down}        ; hold v
    Sleep 20                ; wait 20ms, while still holding v
    SendInput {e}            ; press e, once
    Sleep 20                ; wait 20ms, still holding v
    SendInput {v Up}        ; release v
return

}

Yea LGS works pretty well with the non-Logi keyboards. I use a G600 mouse so have plenty of macros to assign. It's great for different builds so you can end up with a lot of profiles. And you can also export the macro profiles (local\logi...\profiles) so one doesn't have to rebuild them on an OS refresh.
