I'm typing this on a machine powered by a Ryzen 5 3700X CPU with Corsair Vengeance DDR4 RAM (my daily driver, not the gaming system in my System Specs).

Seems to be fine.

My system is Ryzen with corsair at 3800mt. What I'm saying is I've seen people state that corsair ram isn't always good with Ryzen on this forum. Or is it just Corsair lpx?

I think it depends on your setup honestly. Ryzen Zen1 didn't play nice with most things. Faster forward to Zen3 and X570 chipset- Not really any problems to speak of if you follow the QVL lists of MBs.

Hi,
You're more likely to have issues mixing memory with corsair than other brands
Example you buy one kit 2x8/ 2x16gb/.. and later you buy another kit same as the existing one same frequency and timings/ cas latency/ 3200c16 but they don't work together they bsod or no post at all :eek:

Corsair changes parts way to much for the cheapest they can find sort of bait and switch like a lot of manufactures have been doing like adata/..
So when you get different parts on seemingly same products they are more likely to fail to work together on corsair
Only way to know what you got with corsair is a VER# on the side of each stick of memory
If the VER# doesn't match you're not going to be very happy trying to use them on a single system.

Always buy a quad kit if you want best results and if you have to use two kits for 4x16gb/... do it at the same time not later.

You're more likely to get two kits with the same VER#

Many people think the QVL is a joke, and don’t pay any attention to it because maybe they know better? With my rig I checked the QVL at G.Skill and Asus.. I really have not had any problems. I have had frustration boxes before and this one is a walk in the park..

I'm using some corsair dominator 2666c15 4x4gb atm just for kicks really on my x99 system

Had a lot of issues with them to from years ago
3 rma replacements later issues still happened one stick always fell off the map lol
Turns out it work okay if I don't use sata port 1 & 2 at the same time only 1 or only 2 with 3-8 can be used together :kookoo:

Interesting thing is if I use trident-z 3200c14 4x8gb kit no issue at all but b-die rules :cool:

So corsair can be a real pita easiest is to pass on them and go g-skill.
But on x99 3200c16 4x8gb kit wont even post

So not all g-skill is great as it's really b-die that is great !

For generation one of RYZEN, Corsair Lpx memory was not compatible and difficult but not impossible to setup, they wouldn't automatically set up and work with Xmp profiles for example but Corsair released AMD specific versions later that were fine, this wasn't just Lpx but Lpx got called out more than most since it's cheap and people bought it.
No worries now just get RYZEN compatible rated versions though mostly it's not a issue.

I was unaware that there was Ryzen specific ram when I built my system, I just got 32gb and plugged it in and wahey, it worked!

How do I find out what chips are on my ram?

I have two sets of single RAM sticks, 4x 16GB 3200MHz working fine on a zen+ chip while 4x 32GB (same speed but higher latency) sticks doing good with zen3 so I say it's fine!

Corsair has been putting Ryzen Badges on their page for certain ram, its a hit and miss, but yes true corsair has become a pita that I generally overlook them like i do kingston

AMD has improved memory compatibility a fair bit with their AGESA updates, this should work just fine but XMP or higher speeds will vary depending on the CPU, memory chips & motherboard. I will add though that mixing & matching memory generally doesn't work that well, I bought all the sticks real cheap from the same brand & roughly all have similar manufacturing dates.

Historically QVL's have been maybe not a joke, but almost (for consumer space). Certainly nothing to bother with anyway. I know I haven't, and general RAM incompability problems have not really been a thing at all. Not until first gen Ryzen anyway.

I'll be sticking with this corsair as long as I can. I can't do any more spending when I want a monitor, GPU, CPU and cooler, motherboard. If I said ram to the Mrs I'd get castrated.
