The DeepCool AK400 may be a classic four-heat-pipe tower cooler, but traditional design aside, it is a compelling entry-level option. Its price-to-performance ratio is impressive, and the lack of ARGB lighting doesn't affect its aesthetically pleasing appearance. Drop in a good warranty and low noise levels and you have a winner.

In Canada the DeepCool AK400 appears unbeatable. Sold directly by DeepCool fulfilled by Amazon on Prime for the same US price. Neat!

Unbeatable at this price, especially in white, as far as I can tell.

This looks like a good candidate to replace the Cryorig M9 as my go-to. Will have to try one out sometime and hope that a) I like the mounting system and b) it stays on the market for awhile if I do.

Of course, I wouldn't be looking for an M9 replacement if US distribution hadn't evaporated.

The temp performance on AMD is indeed disappointing but seems like a good budget option for Intel CPUs.

With the AK620 the temps on AMD where better compared to Intel.

So is this related to the base of the AK620 Convex shape opposed to the AK400s base being more flat?

I believe its more related to the spacing on the heat pipes for the AK400 the gap between the inner and outer heat pipes leaves a space where the heat pipes are only partially sitting on top of the 3900X CPU dies. Sure the IHS should mitigate that to a certain extent. But keep in mind I measure via peak temps since that will determine thermal throttle behavior. That said, our test system CPUs being what they are can be considered beyond what a cooler of this type should be used for I have a hunch on the more mid range CPUs the cooler would likely perform a bit better overall on the AMD front.

I wonder if it would be able to take an i7 12700 @ pl1=pl2=125W (or maybe even 130W)?

I don't see why not. Their test bench runs at 125 W in the 'stock' setting. Look at the results for the cooler, below 60° C, which is pretty good.
