Most zen 3 tap out before 5Ghz the x3D caps out at 4.5 afaik, this does 5.7( allegedly) and will have an expected minimum 15% IPC gain.

No they'll beat a 5800X3D or they're not going to do well are they.

IPC and DDR5 doesn't really matter for games as much as cache hits and latency. I would be willing to bet the 5800X3D on par with zen4 in gaming, or so close that it's indistinguishable. 7900 4 X3D w/ DDR5 and an IPC lift, now that will be something.

That's not to say zen 4 is bad -- but that the x3d is just such an insane gaming chip.

I thought they were going the xxxxx3D design as default with the 7000 series, and drop the '3D' from the name.

Nope, none of the previously demonstrated Zen4 CPUs have 3D cache, and they've spoken of a separate launch for X3D SKUs (though the naming may or may not stick around, there'll definitely be some name for it).

DDR5 isn't really expensive any more. The prices are coming down almost daily.
Here in NL not really, the DDR5 Corsair kit I bought few months ago are even more expensive now....

Take these things with the right helping of skepticism for now, as things can still change before the launch.
Also consider retail pricing will doubtfully be exactly MSRP.

I disagree.

Rocket lake did well verses X3d I think zen4 will too but we will see.

Did it though? Rocket lake? In games (especially mins and frame pacing) nothing is really faster than the X3D.

But like you said, let's see. Exciting stuff. Still look at that gap between the 5800 and the x3d and imagine than on a 7900x. That is.... going to be interesting.

Even when the price drops to similar levels. It should be taken into account that you are now required to mount at least 2 x 16gb with DDR5.

Plus, there is also the cost of a new motherboard for those wishing to migrate from socket AM4 to AM5, so I guess the lower prices make sense.
The motherboard prices I've seen are very encouraging, but B650 is obviously some time out as yet.

Zen4 has a big DDR5 and new motherboard's price problem. Only fanboys will buy Zen4 over Alder/Raptor lake or even Zen3 if price difference is too large and it looks like it might be.
See above with regards to motherboard pricing.

That 7600X is very spicy but $500 for 7900X please AMD? :toast:

Also IIRC according to the leaks, 3D cache version will be out at the end of the year? So it will be Zen 4 -> Raptor Lake -> Zen 4 3D and that means I still have time to save up.

Prices especially 7700 and 7600 seem too good to be true if they end up being correct then I will jump from 3700x to AM5 platform.

So probably 300 EUR for the 7600X in EU. I remember the 5600X being 350 EUR for the first couple of weeks.
I doubt it, there's less demand for them than Zen 3 most likely. And I'm pretty sure the shortage is more or less gone for CPU's.

Being an 5800X3D owner i will skip Zen4 and Zen4D.
I hope Zen5 will bring core count increases and V-Cache as default in 2023. Along with 8000–10000 DDR5 speeds.

Also more USB4 and Gen5 M.2 slots.

Finally some good numbers! AMD is coming close with OC as well near to intel's with that freaking 80MB that's crazy bt the 13th gen will have 68MB cache - lets if it will be crashing the 13th gen raptor lake with these numbers or not! Not in OC obvious as 13th will go easily 6GHz+. Waiting for performance to power number of these two!

it will be fun - waiting for comparison and reviews of these two beasts :D

If those base clocks are accurate, then the higher TDPs are definitely understandable. 16 cores at 4.5GHz? Holy crap! Hopefully that will make the people wishing for AMD to resurrect consumer HEDT quiet down for a while. Of course this also bodes very well for efficiency with stricter power limits, even if stock operation in SFF will become more difficult.
HEDT was about more than the processor.

HEDT was about more than the processor.
Well aware of that, but X670E has tons of PCIe (just needs some motherboards populating it into slots), and DDR5 easily doubles bandwidth over DDR4, so both of those use cases are being improved notably as well.

+300 to go from 8 to 12 cores, but only +100 to go from 12 to 16? Doubt.

Still hoping that the rumor of Zen4 CPUs with AM4 compatibility is true.

I thought they listed VAT separate. Or do they just note that its included in price?
I was nearly going to talk politics then, but I remembered where I am so all I shall say is performance uplift for me with humble 3600 is going to be huuuuuge. "Love, you know I said I don't need new ram or a motherboard? I need ALL of it instead." :slap: :nutkick:

I am also a bit surprised of the Price of the 7900x and 7950x. I expect they will be much more available since the higher TDP will allow them to bin those less aggressively. Before that they had to find chips that would substain higher frequency at lower power consumption. Now, they just need to get chips that clock higher and boost the power consumption if needed. I assume they will be able to take the chips that clock well at low power and put them in EPYC or Threadripper

It's crazy how having a single CCD for all your product open so much possibility.
