Australian Copies of Halo 3 Immune to Scratching

While American and European owners of the Limited Edition of Halo 3 are stuck sending their scratched disks back to Microsoft, Australians do not have to worry about any trouble whatsoever. This is because Microsoft sandwiched a piece of foam between the Halo 3 disk and the user guide, effectively keeping the disk from moving. If only this simple yet ingenious idea made its way to the rest of the world, we may not have ever had to worry about Halo 3 copies being scratched.

getting back to the origional topic, i wonder if microsoft demanded the packaging company to fix the faulty dvd nub problem or if they added the foam/styro due to all the attention that the whole scratched disc thing has been causing.

This pisses me off. I pre-ordered my copy of H3 Limited Edition through Amazon. Frankly I was pissed, but not suprised when my disk came in yesterday scratched. Not for nothing, but who would find it acceptable for a disc replacement program at launch for the arguably the most anticipated game for the 360? I've been waiting for this game for a year and then i have to send my disc back and wait another 2 weeks before i receive a fresh copy?

I sent it back and ordered a normal copy of Halo 3. I'm really not all that enthusiastic about jumping in to "Finish the fight" anymore. If they spent this little time thinking about packaging they must have not thought too much of their own game.

you'll get it back and oops. there could be a scratch, i honestly wouldnae be bothered, if i can complete the game with no hassle then its objective done, the disc eventually will get scratched

I happen to be one of those people that knows how to take care of their dvd's and cd's. I've always been very careful of even getting finger prints on discs because i try not to let the surface get touched by anything (including cloth). Discs are extremely sensitive and can be damaged easily, but if properly taken care of there is no reason the disc won't last as long as you want it to. Any CD/DVD i own that has been scratched (or even a crack in the jewel case) has been due to another persons negligence. Earlier in the year my 360 scratched up my gears of war and PGR 3 disc and i had to send it back to have the drive replaced (yet again not my fault).

The only CD i've ever damaged was a copy of the latest Queens of the Stone Age album. I bought it hoping for something good but expecting to hear something bad, but not this bad! I immediately ejected it, put a cigarette burn through it slowly, snapped it in half, and threw it off my balcony into traffic.
