Well I unhooked the pump and flushed it out again but the sound remains, it must be the pump going bad.

That sucks. The 50x is a really nice pump. Can you tell whats hitting what and causing the noise?

Edit- did you take the pump apart?

Yeah, I think you need to dismantle the pump and check out the impeller and the impeller housing. There could be debris in there, a chunk of broken impeller, or possibly the nylon spindle has snapped and the impeller is rattling around loose in the housing:

Unless it's debris that can be removed (which just means something else in your loop needs replacing), it's curtains for the 50x pump.

Edit, was just reading an article on this, and it's likely the nylon bearing has split and is now just fragments stuck in your loop:

Unless Swiftech's policy has changed, these are not user-serviceable parts and they void your warranty opening the pump and you cannot obtain the nylon washers from Swiftech.

Yes

And never ever let air through the running pump
After cleaning, don't just plug it in to see how well it works. Air kills like Cyanure

Hi,
Well they don't last forever.
D5's pwm or even the D5 vario are pretty good.

The problem has been resolved I took apart the pump and replaced the o ceramic ring with one from another same pump I had that was broken. Now is silent. Cheers :toast:thanks for all the replies and the cool mod example for the Antec 900!

Well, today's prize goes to @Chrispy_ I guess

I'm glad you didn't have to replace the whole pump even if it was under guarantee. It's cool to take things apart and fix them.

Good job you had a spare! :)

Seems like a design flaw in an otherwise decent pump to rely on a ceramic washer that's not available to purchase as a spare part. The cynic in me says that's built-in obsolescence...
