All ddr5 is high but what makes it bad is the wildly high cas latency's being offered
At least this corsair set is't as high in that regard which is an improvement for sure but is it worth the cost ? not to me.

Personally I played the high prices for ddr4 when it came out
Not going through that nonsense again I'll leave that for others

Actually I went from a Z170 i7 6700K DDR4 system to Z690 i7 12700K DDR5 system.

My dad is still using my old 775 E7200 DDR2 system, still runs pretty well with SSD and windows 10!

Like DDR4 was cheap when released? DDR3? Shit I remember DDR2 kits like Corsair Dominators, back then over 250$. Which back then, was a quite a bit of money. Inflation, yeah. But also wages have increase too since that time....

A little reality check for you. My G.Skill 4267mhz B-Die kit was over 350$. It was a total of only 16gb 2x8 and didn't have unbuffered ECC chip installed. DDR5 the standard is 32gb and comes equipped with unbuffered ECC on all kits.

My current DDR5 kit is 2x8gb and was well under 200$. And at 5800mhz, it's clobbering just about all ddr4 b-die benchmarks.

Click the link at the OP, all the DDR4 memory was at the bottom of the benchmark lists, where system memory would make a difference.

(Sorry for venting, just tired of reading that ddr5 is "slow" but there isn't really any evidence of that. It's like saying DDR2 is still fast....)

Inflation or price fixing? DRAM vendors are notorious because punishments aren't adequate. Again, I reiterate no major new DRAM fabs till 2024. Anyhow, here's how much I paid for my DDR4 in Sept 2020, and the price now. The same kit goes from $75 to $140 that's far beyond any inflation, especially when companies like Nvidia are reporting a 40% decline for the quarter and 33% for the year. They're intentionally launching before ready so they have an excuse to claim a deficit of production.

I meant general increase of inflation from early 2000's to now. Just trying to example that any DDR generation release is always costly. Especially if you want the really fast kits.

Well board, Cpu, memory, Samsung 980pro was 626$ total. 575$ without the SSD.
Replaced my 8700K with 4267mhz B-Die on Maximus X Hero, and it clobbers the living piss out of B-Die and all at like frequencies or less. 4.7ghz vs 4.7ghz I saw roughly an average of 1000pts increase on most of the 3DMarks. Comparing both systems using a GTX 980, not the fastest card in the bunch, but I'm still happy at 1080p myself. Though I do have RTX 2060's, I haven't slapped one in the 12th gen system yet for comparisons.

Here's budgeting performance based on reading TechPowerUp reviews and forum threads.

12400F + C36 series overclocked from 5200mhz using XMP timing set and additional Vdimm 1.250v
Motherboard is an Asus B660-G. I chose this specific board for BCLK overclocking specifically.

Note: Cpu at 4.7ghz Cache at 4.4ghz. (hardly breathing.... let the screeny speak for it's self)

I really, really think corsair moving the logos in the center of the RAM just ruins the visual appeal entirely

This is from my Corsair DDR4 RAM, mid animation (Waves of red leaving the CPU and cooling down over distance, because lava is cool... well, the other kind of cool?)
There's just no way in hell you can set up any kind of visual theme with the way they've broken the LED's up to throw DOMINATOR in there, with the words themselves being 50/50 for two LED colours

Or the staggered rainbow wave effect I used to run:

Except worse as the words blur the two colours together in the middle

They've just.... ruined their own visual effects and animations?
To make sure everyone knows It's Dominator RAM?

And of course a huge thank you for looking into potential issues with iCue - Corsair needs some attention drawn to that, so they can work on fixing any issues there.
These problems cropped in with DDR4 and iCue 3.x over the years as well.

About the only good news is that if you use iCues "hardware lighting" options, they remain even if you don't have the software running or they aren't detected - but that requires another DDR5 system to set them up on

Heck, Hardware lighting is a general plus to the entire corsair RGB RAM range - because the lighting you choose there remains active all the time when the software isn't running, such as in the BIOS or at boot. My brother is driven mad by his Trident Z ram because every time he enters sleep mode or reboots the PC, he's given full brightness RGB rainbow, where my default is static lighting at 50%

Crap. I knew I forgot something. I am aware of the hardware lighting and funny thing is with a DDR4 review, I turned the LEDs pink to test it and a year later put it in another computer. Yeah they are still pink because I just didn't want to install icue again lol.

Right after i wrote this my brother called me up, and his first words were bitching about the ram resetting on him again

The hardware lighting really is great, because you can set what you want and never use iCue again - which AFAIK no other brand can do, they all reset to default rainbow at full brightness on power loss
