hi, i have a problem with a creative sound card model sound blaster z se , when i turn on, restart or turn off the pc it emits annoying pops from the speakers, i was wondering if it can affect the fact that my ryzen 3200g cpu has few pcie lanes, i already a video card that runs at 8x and an nvme so this may be the problem? thank you.

You mean the speaker pop when the amps power up? My Xonar DX2 would prevent this by isolating this in the card itself it would just click on the PCB instead of kicking my headset or speakers.

There are a few audio people on the forums that might be able to explain this, but no I don’t think it’s related to your pcie or otherwise.

Maybe @WhiteNoise ?

that's right, when I press the power button on the pc from the speakers you hear a bump when the volume is low or halfway.

its normal. like I mentioned my xonar had relays that would click to handle this instead of letting my speakers thump, but my current Schiit amps thump when powered on. Its pretty normal and has been for awhile.

so it's normal to hear these pops, won't they damage the speakers in the long run?

Well you can turn down the volume before powering the system off, how much thump or pop are we talking about btw?

a sort of bump when you turn on the PC with the speakers on at low or half volume

If your speakers pop during power off you either have a ground issue (like in a home stereo system) If your amp doesn't have the ability to cut the power via a relay then you will get the pop or thump. Pretty normal. Lower your gain to help. It's rather normal for this to happen so I wouldn't worry about it. I tend to shut things off in a certain order to void the thump. Amp first then source, but when I turn things on, the opposite.

Or during power on. Keep the gain down during power up and down.
