8820C is CJR, like all of G.skill's cheap -C kits. CJR is okay as a daily but really only if you get it for a really good price. Didn't you already have a dual rank Micron Rev.B kit? You pretty much made a sidegrade (best case)/downgrade (worst case).

If you want something you can actually tweak, the 3600 16-16-16 kits are B-die (but can be kind of a middling bin). Go for 3600CL14 if you want a good start.

Don't expect much OC headroom out of it, it's CJR (anecdotally damages itself past 1.45v). 3600 16-19-19, 3800 16-20-20, maybe 4000 18-21(?)-21 if you're lucky.

To maximize this kit, return it and get the same part number without the "C" at the end.
To make 100% sure you get a G.SKill Samsung B-Die kit look for 8810B on the sticker.

You can also try this website

That's why I like newegg. They list the actual timing set IE: 16-16-16-36. Pure distinctive indication of Samsung B-Die. No other die make will cary that timing set. The A dies are close 16-18-18, but funk all that noise, they don't clock as well.

Yeah, way no good. The kit without the C will probably do 4000mhz on the XMP timing set and a little V-Dimm oomph.

To be clear, if you're just looking for something to set and forget, CJR is fine for 3600 16-19-19 and 3733 16-19/20-19/20. 3800 is a lil tougher, I never got CL16 to work on mine.

The problem is that CJR basically doesn't scale with voltage. Freq is kinda crap (4000/4133 if lucky, but timings worse than Micron). On paper it'll still scale tCL with VDIMM, but CJR just runs out of steam. DJR is a much better overclocker (imo a little too good, since both Intel (except Comet Lake) and AMD break Gear 1/1:1 to make full use of it).......but you'll never find DJR this cheap with G.skill.

Spot on. Loosen timings and leave the XMP voltage alone. Maybe a 0.01v bump for v-droop.

I suggest Disabling "power down mode", should be located down the timings list there usually next to "gear down mode". This will prevent the memory from throttling when idle and helps with the infamous AMD + SK Hynix "Freeze ups".

My end suggestion is always return and get the kit without the "C" and I've been thanked numerous times for that. (LTT forums).

i love gskill kits but i DO rather like these kits (as a semi-low-pro non.rainbow.brite alternative) for my z390/590 builds [they are single rank if that's pertinent to you]
https://www.newegg.com/oloy-16gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820821426?Item=N82E16820821426

i'm also partial to newegg and/or memoryC for buying rams over sk'amazon [based on dodgy usps shipping issues, etc...]

Both single rank, OP has 2DIMM board, not gonna work

otherwise, the new patriot kit is excellent value for 4x8

Right . I guess I don’t care for rgds but needs to be compatible with MSI b550i Wi-Fi edge and Ryzen 5 5600x

How about this one?

The actual kit on that page is B-die (3600 14-15-15) but it's single rank. The kit that you searched for on Amazon (3800 16-19-19), I'm not sure if that's a very low B-die bin, a new high CJR bin, or a low DJR bin.

Here's mine: https://www.gskill.com/product/165/166/1604305764/F4-3600C14D-32GTZR

G.skill has multiple versions of every kit. As long as you make sure the specs are the same (ie. 2x16GB 3600 14-15-15), all other differences are just aesthetic, just heatspreader choices (Ripjaws, Z RGB, Z, Z Neo, etc)

I think I’m just get stay with this one at 3600 or get the one from Newegg but I’m tired of messing with memory OC

Understandable, nothing wrong with that. Especially if you weren't able to get your previous Micron kit down tighter than 3600 18-21-21. You can use my old CJR timings as a bit of a reference to tighten yours a bit (don't copy them though, they're not the best), or 16-19-19 XMP is honestly fine too.

32GB of B-die still isn't cheap - personally I felt the pretty penny I paid was worth it in being able to mess around with OC, but if just running at XMP you may as well not spend that sort of money on B-die.

Here you go. Pay attention to this thread.

The kit will have everyone going circles and circles. But this guy has 2x kits installed 64gb total.

I just went over it .‘a man he did everything but noticing the ram overkill on a 3600.
did I get that right?

Well thats everyone's desire. To run the XMP profile I mean. If a person gets 4000mhz memory, it's expected to run it.

He's running a 5900x, which would support normally 3200mhz and 32gb of memory populating 2 slots.

The bummer is, he'd be under rated the memory frequency at the given XMP timing and it would perform worse if dialed back to 3200mhz. And he would probably still have the same issue running all 4 sticks.

It's just not a great set of memory to pair with a Ryzen machine. The memory controller is a little picky it seems.

Was hoping he would reply so I can try and navigate assistance, but at the end of the day, I will be suggesting the same kit I suggested for you and running only 32gb. But if he needs 64gb, he could dial the b-die kit back to 3200mhz and it might just remain stable. That requires testing though, but he'd have a lot less problems.
