Idk if this is the right place to post this cuz I’m new to this site and idk if anyone here will know much about this device but I thought I’d ask here for help. The device is supposed to be portable, but the mobile battery doesn’t seem to work (or at least idk how to make it work) and it only works with the power cord it came with plugged in, is anyone able to help?

Google the model # and see if you can find the manual. Since I am guessing you might have bought it used, could be the mobile battery is dead, and need to be replaced.

An Internet search indicates this device launched in 2006 which explains why the battery is dead. Batteries don't last forever.

If you want mobile functionality you'll need to buy a replacement battery.

I didn't look at the specs of this device's wireless communications. If it has wifi it will invariably be an old 802.11 protocol. Many modern wifi routers and access points are deliberately configured to NOT support connections using these older protocols because of security vulnerabilities. So even if you buy a battery for the device, you might not be able to connect to most hotspots. Something to consider before spending more money.

Anyhow best of luck.

I just had some serious dejavu reading this, not really relevant I just felt like this happened before somehow. Also Ik it’s not a very modern device but I just find it super cool especially for a pre-iPhone mobile pc from 2006, I just like old tech. Thank you for you advice tho ^_^

Yeah, sorry, I don't know about any deja vu situation since you registered for this site today. If you had a similar conversation elsewhere or bought a similar old device before I have no knowledge of such matters although it would not surprise me if others made similar comments to what you are reading here.

Worse, you didn't describe your intended use for this device making it difficult for people here to give reasonable advice in regard to the time/money to restore this device to its original operating condition.

In the end, it's your money and thus your call if it's worth shelling out more cash to get it to do whatever unknown thing(s) you want it to do.

Anyhow enjoy your gadget.

This takes me back to the good old UMPC days. I got an OQO e2 back in 2008 as a part of debt repayment and immediately fell in love with it. I was the envy of every man and an ultimate chick magnet.
As for the battery, you're probably out of luck. If you're lucky you might be able to buy some "new old stock" ones, but after fifteen years of storage they'd probably be dead anyway. If you really want to fix it, find a company which fixes and refurbishes batteries and ask them about fixing this one but I wouldn't hold my breath, at the very least it won't be cheap. Remember, this device is a collectible antique at this point.

I just mentioned the dejavu thing cuz I just kinda got that feeling, wasn’t like saying this happened before, it’s just that feeling yknow, also I thought I described the intent I just didn’t realize I forgot to type out everything past “doesn’t” but I fixed that. Also the device does work it just needs to be plugged in, sorry

That’s true that’s true, I have found other batteries online but they’re rare and expensive, there were also others that could work without being plugged in on ebay, but this was (at the time) the cheapest option
