The world of Planar Magnetic Driver IEMs get a new competition today, DUNU has come up with its first-ever planar magnetic driver IEMs, meet the all-new DUNU Talos. It's not just a planar magnetic set, Talos is a hybrid set that features a newly-developed 14.6mm dual-chamber planar driver as the main driver and custom-developed dual BA drivers as super tweeters. DUNU has featured a special switch on the Talos that allows the users to choose whether to listen to the set in Planar-only mode or hybrid mode. The dual BA drivers act as super tweeters, they are tuned for high-frequency response and instantly improve resolution and details when turned on.

Talos is currently launched on pre-order priced at $199.99, shipments are expected to start from 26th by the order no. sequence. For the first 100 orders, we will be including our HiFiGo Neck Strap and leather buckle as a gift. Know more details here. It's also available on our amazon store, check here.

According to the classic tales, Talos was an immortal until the age of the Demigods. Legends state that he is made up of bronze and is invincible. There is only one blood vessel that runs from his neck down to the knees and is covered with copper. DUNU has designed the godly Talos keeping this legend story in their mind. The cavity structure here has been precisely designed with gold-plated brass material. The shells of Talos are crafted using a high-precision CNC machining process with aviation-grade aluminium alloy material for a premium finish. Talos has got multiple vents on the Front and Rear Cavities. These are designed after conducting extensive simulation tests and ensure the pair gets a dynamic low-frequency response and a comfortable wearing experience!!

DUNU has developed a new 14.6 mm planar magnetic driver with a 14.6 mm ultra-thin diaphragm. This driver adopts an ultra-light silver alloy voice coil and a powerful dual-sided magnetic circuit. This planar driver is tuned for delivering a crisp full-frequency response with excellent resolution and clarity. DUNU has also implemented dual Balanced Armature drivers on the Talos as super tweeters that can be turned on via a switch. Once turned on, Talos shows improved resolution and clarity, especially in the high frequencies.

DUNU is known for high-quality cables. They usually bundle their IEMs with some high-quality ones as stock cables. The latest Talos comes with a high-purity silver-plated monocrystalline copper cable that has standard 2-pin connectors and 3.5 mm termination. Here's a frequency graph shared by DUNU for the Talos. The Blue frequency curve is with the Hybrid Planar mode, while the Yellow is the normal Planar mode response.

You and me both, but based on those FRs I don't see anyone really using the BA drivers lol.

You and I keep thinking alike on these things LOL. Even outside of that though, you'd think planar should be a single driver configuration regardless. We'll see. Could wok!

$199.99 always, pre-order is just for the small gifts.
ah, okay so the 749$ on Amazon is a "placeholder price" ? like the 8000$ once on HiFiGo?

almost had a heart attack
although that would have been super odd such a difference between pre order and launch price

pre-order is just for the small gifts.
for the first 100, ok i see ... i really need to see my Ophtalmologist

Yes, anything higher than the $200 MSRP is either a place holder or greed.

You will NOT pay higher than MSRP for any sort of audio gear unless you're a fool. MSRP is just that, suggested. In reality everything is usually 10% or more off if you look about and find out. No authorized distributors are selling at MSRP all the time, they compete with themselves.

The audio market is not the GPU market or the console market. If you're not paying sub MSRP you're dealing either with a company that just does direct sales (schitt) in which case the savings are built in and you pay less out of the gate, or you are dealing with something that does not ship to your area and dealing with the hoops that cause it to skyrocket in price.

Oddly for all the shit the audio market gets for stupidly expensive things (and I completely agree a lot of the shit is snake oil) it's rather honest. The prices are stable, they don't even usually bounce up and down for inflation. You're going to pay MSRP or MSRP - up to 10% unless there is a stock issue. If they are clearing out due to a new item (this is when you buy) it will fly for -30% at times, paying over MSRP just does not happen. AKA a 5k pair of cans is always going to be 5k, unless a new version comes out then it will be 10% off, that's it, it will never go up in price from a legit dealer.

or unles you live in switzerland where the MSRP is a fabled unicorn, we might have the lowest EU TVA (for now) but everything is 25% more expensive than anywhere else

usually i only seek lower deal, i.e: my FH1s where 84chf (same in dollar compared to the seen price of 50-60$ elswhere) but i had a fidelity (High-Fidelity i might say  ) discount of 34chf which made them 50chf (hence why i got them )

The audio market is not the GPU market or the console market. yesh, a friend got a set of friggin expensive tube AMP and a DAC, it was years ago and it was from a brand i did not know, the manufacturer claimed, well a bit like MQA, being better than hi res... (i told him it was a bollocks claim tho)
neither of us had testing hardware but just opening the DAC shown a Yamaga (hilariously fake Yamaha or that was a typo  ), low quality electrolytes caps and the tube in the AMP went *poof* quite fast ....
he hated doing that, but he sold it on auction, with a correct description of the product, after changing the tubes and replacing all caps with better caps, he got around 75% of the price back.
the hate came from selling a p.o.s. to someone else, but it was either that or sucking up the loss and tossing it in a dump
