AMD Ryzen 9 7950X Up for Sale in Europe and China

Ahead of its September 27 market availability, AMD Ryzen 9 7950X "Zen 4" has already hit the gray-markets in China. Some retailers in Europe even started listing them. Chinese online gray-markets (peer to peer commerce) sites, list the 7950X at RMB ¥5,999 (around USD $850). None of these listings show a box, so it's likely that the sellers bought a tray of these chips in the OEM or SI channels, and is selling them off piecemeal. OEM-only AMD SKUs usually land in the retail channel this way. Over in Europe, French retailer Cdiscount has the 7950X listed at 1,099€ including taxes ($1,102). The store also lists the 7900X at 749€ ($751), the 7700X at 589€ ($591), and the 7600X at 409€ ($410).

Do these prices include VAT? If so, it doesn't seem too out of hand, but I would be waiting on the bigger authorized retail partners to list prices before I get too worried.

Should be easily identified by the part number. Retail (non-OEM) parts have a 'WOF' ending after the number. I'm not sure if it shows on the CPU, though.

Is shown in the Cdiscount page screenshots, not sure about the CPU pic itself.

I believe the SEP for the 7950X was supposed to be $699 US, but add import duties, VAT and distributor pricing, that sounds where I'd expect to be paying for one outside the United States.

OMG even the retail companies are hyped with the products. Money grab begins with all the hype and earlier purchases will come down to higher prices. You can see it in the listed prices.
So hold your horses and wait with purchases.

There's many reasons! It's a new platform with teething issues that no one knows about yet. It's the first 5 nm CPU with a new socket and IHS, and unknown heat dissipation characteristics. Speaking of heat, it's the first 170 W TDP CPU as well. No one knows how it works in a home PC. Buying without reading reviews first is stupid. Plain and simple.

If you mean no reason not to pre-order instead of buying it from shady individuals on Ebay, then I agree.

If the price of the 5700X reduces by 30% I'll buy it, no doubt about it. I couldn't care less how much the new chip ( Intel or AMD) score in CPU-Z. Less heat and lower power consumption are what I'm after.
