AMD Cuts MSRPs of Radeon RX 6000 Series Graphics Cards

I have a concern. For 2 years we have been given the wattages for the 6000 series of Video cards on Wikipedia and this has been mostly substantiated by videos.

And now as an example the RX 6800 wattage is rated at 280 watts when for 2 years it was rated at 300 Watts??? the Wiki could have been changed any time they wanted but of course MARKETING did not think this one through

So... I have to disagree with the Current AMD Ratings.

This is why I do not trust anything from AMD or Ngreedia. I've been involved in tech now almost 34 years and I've seen the industry turn into something based on lies, mis-information and technical truths.

AMD did not really cut any msrp, $549 was the release price of the rx6800. You can check it here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radeon_RX_6000_series , it says "November 18, 2020 $579 USD" but many shops sold at 549$. After almost 2 years msrp still at 549 usd, disgusting, nvidia is no different, their rtx 4090 msrp price is absurd. We need more gpu manufactures that are not based in china anymore, chinese gpu manufactures have become a mafia.
What?! These are all American companies. What does this have to do with China? The Chinese are only just getting started manufacturing desktop GPUs (Fenghua/Imagination etc).

What are you even talking about? Using Internet Archive shows the same TBP - 250W for 6800 and 300W for 6800XT. There's also no 280 number related to watts on either the 6000 series page or the RDNA one.

Also, very important to remember, Wikipedia can be edited by anyone.

Let's go with the clarification. Yes you are right the 6800 is rated at 250 watts the 600XT is rated at 300 watts. I just forgot the XT on my last comment.

Secondly and as important. AMD HAD THE CHANCE TO CORRECT THE CHANGES LIKE ANYONE ELSE ON WIKIPEDIA. AND THEY DID NOT.

So for 2 years this was considered fact for millions to see regardless of what people think of Wikipedia. People go for it for information. NOBODY... CHANGED THAT INFORMATION UNTIL AMD'S STATEMENT.

I Stand by my comment. IMHO this is ONLY MARKETSPEAK on AMD's part to make it look better against Ngreedia's wattage that I KNOW is far worse than has been posted.

As state before I am looking at the RX 6800 as -The- potential undervolted card for me.

This is bullshit. Overclockers have put prices up from £530 to 630 for a RX6800. I'm going second hand. It's obscene.

They can cut them to whatever they want to cut them. I don’t want one! If this move is to counter Nvidia, then yes. If it’s to “compete” then NO! AMD can’t “compete” with Nvidia in GPUs.
My RX 6700 XT has a word for the 3060Ti/3070 that were 200$ more than her and not even slightly overtaking her (without promotion still slightly cheaper) :ohwell:

But do keep the blinders no worries, you do you ;)

Again, what are you talking about? Here's the links to the Wikipedia pages from the earliest time after the 18th of November 2020 launch:
2020.11.30 snapshot of List of AMD graphics processing units
2020.12.25 snapshot of Radeon RX 6000 series

Feel free to use archive.org and find a snapshot where the 6800 XT is rated 280W. If the pages weren't changed for 2 years, then it shouldn't be hard to find evidence. At this point, I honestly think you're just misremembering.

One of the things that people forget is Driver updates can and have changed the performance metrics of the 6800XT. My 6800XT does not draw over 255 Watts. My power draw will be a little less because I don't have a fan or RGB connected as it is on a Water block. There was a driver about a month or 2 after they launched though that did push the power limit to 300 watts. The current driver does not pull more than 220 Watts doing the stress test.

Yeah I was about to upgrade to a nice 6700 xt or 6750 xt it was around $430. NOW the prices have jumped to close to $500. WTF... Amazon Newegg and Best buy all have raised prices.

I'm seeing cards selling cheaper than these price cuts already. It makes me wonder if I should sell my 3060ti and get a RX 6800 for $500. I bet I can easily get $300-$400 for the 3060ti.

This is not necessarily good news. It's purely speculation on my part, but since Nvidia seems confident they can clear stock at current prices and AMD doesn't, it could mean AMD needs to clear the current price points because they plan to sell RDNA3 at those price points. And you don't sell for cheaper than competition if you can match them in performance.
That 250$ gap between the 6900XT and the 6950XT seems to me to "make space" for the 7800 (non-XT) at least.
I'm guessing the 7800 will have raster performance somewhere between the 6900XT and the 6950XT but should have similar RT performance as the 6950XT, and the 7800XT should match/outclass the 6950XT overall performance and go for ~1000$.
Optimistically they could theoretically squeeze both 7800 and 7800XT in that 250$ gap, and price the 7900XT in the ~1000$, but I suspect they've learned a thing or two about not cannibalizing previous product lines from Nvidia.

Lucky you. Here in Portugal most 6600XTs cost over 400€, which is a bit silly since there are Saphire RX 6700 (non-XT) for less than that. And the Nvidias are even worse (priced even higher from MSRP).

RT performance should be twice as the 6900XT or they're DOA.
They don't even match the 2080Ti.

Sorry, your market is rough. Things are far less than perfect in many other ways here in the land of consumerism.

That seems to vary a lot based on the title. I still have yet to use RT despite the fact that I bought my card based on the fact that it had superior RT performance for the price versus the AMD competition.

Check out Overclockers and Cash Convertors at the moment. Huge reductions in prices and CC have 7 6800XT's going for £560 posted and they've only been opened to be checked over and tested.

I thought that Germany had good prices... Meh.

Instead of going down, they are going up contrary to all sane logic, declining sales, recession and decreased purchase power.
2 year-old and counting GPUs are charged as if they are something new - but the current lineup is nothing but garbage, garbage, and more garbage.

I vote with my wallet - NO, won't buy any of it!

I'm going to reply to this as I've seen Prices go UP before the week of Black Friday.... by $90 for a 6800 (XT) @$419.99 new? Yes I would buy it. @$509.99 absolutely NOT. Add 10% tax on the average in where I live and that is too much. And yes I know how bad it is over in Europe.

Regardless of where you are. Do not buy into the BS about "inflation". That is just an excuse for corporations to INCREASE their bottom line even more than the inflation they add it to their overall cost.

We are in hard economic times. Everyone is feeling it.
