There have been some rumours circulating about Intel looking at increasing the pricing for its CPUs and if a screenshot from Amazon UK posted by @momomo_us on Twitter is to be believed, it looks like it'll be a significant increase in price. The Core i9-13900KF is listed with a price of £750.12, or almost US$815, admittedly including 20 percent VAT. That's a significant price increase over the Core i9-12900KF which normally retails for £679, but is currently offered for £608.99 by Amazon UK. It doesn't look better further down the stack either, with the Core i7-13700K coming in at £547.22 compared to a retail price of £409.88 for the Core i7-12700K.

The Core i7-13700KF should land at £516.58, versus £396.40 for the Core i7-12700KF. Finally the Core i5-13600KF ends up at £349.75 versus £272.99 for the Core i5-12600KF. As such, we're looking at a price increase of somewhere between around £80 and £140 depending on the SKU. These are not insignificant price increases if these are the actual retail prices we can expect when Intel launches its 13th gen Core processors in October. Hopefully we'll get some clarity next week, when Intel is said to be announcing the new CPUs. @momomo_us also provided some box art for the new processor boxes, for your viewing pleasure.

From what I was told by someone in the industry, 12th gen CPUs will also see a price hike in Q3. The 13th gen CPUs will be 10-15% higher than the 12th gen, after that price hike. No surprise given the $ these days. That alone would account for the difference even if intel kept the $ price the same. We've seen it with Nvidia 4x series.

Market for second hand chips will boom. Same for phones and other tech. In Europe and elsewhere.

they're between a rock and a hard place.
They can't really risk a price was with someone producing at lower cost, so they do the other thing.

Amazon generally has a policy that if you sell on Amazon, it has to be the cheapest price you sell.

I just did a random 3080+Amazon websearch and found an Asus TUF at £727. Amazon may be guilty of selling some terrible crap but when it comes to brand stuff, you can definitely find it at a reasonable price on Amazon. You just need to refine your search and expectation parameters.

SO wait... cant tell if trolling about prices being ridiculous or serious? A 13600k at 375$ according to this leak.....is 225$ cheaper than the 5950x ...as of right now....and the 13600kf beats it in all aspects......and you dont have to buy another MB if you're already on Alder lake....like me, not to mention with my 12600k, i've hit 5.4ghz stable with a simple 280mm frozen II AIO...now some of that was lottery, but most achieve an easy 10-15% overclock, and this 13600k which costs 225$ less than AMDs BEST 1000$+ cpu when new and STILL 600$ now despite coming out in 2020....Beats it completely stock...using less power..Now throw liquid on it and overclock and you're besting 12900ks and 5950x's with room to breath.... and you're boo hoo'ing? How? Ofcourse they're guna price hike... or atleast LEAK that they are, so fools spend on Alder.... Which isnt a half bad Idea, Alder is more than enough to play any game on the market, 12600K + anyways....OR you could buy the 13700kf for STILL 70$ less than the 5950x and absolutely obliterate anything but the 7950x that amd has to currently offer or offer when the 7-series hits for literal hundreds less. If I was Intel I'd price hike a bit as well, they have the superior product... with the benefit of not changing socket...im certainly eyeing raptor lake as soon as it drops....Now GPUS.... then we can talk AMD, fuck nvidias insane 4xxx series.

Leaked pre-release prices are almost always BS. I've seen hundreds of them through the years and I have yet to see a "leaked" price that ended up being the actual price.

Every release from every there's an Australian, Chinese or Euro retailer that leaks some stuff 35%-100% higher than the actual price at release. Look at 670XE motherboard leaked prices before this article.

Normally I'd agree, but as I wrote in the second comment here, I have been told that there will be fairly big price increases coming from Intel, as theyv'e already pre-warned their partners about this.

I'd stay on the 12600, unless you can afford the 13900, that is the model that offers the most improvement from what you have, if your board can handle it.

That would mean that Zen4 is also going to be pricey or it will fail to deliver. Because otherwise Intel would just be sabotaging their own sales :(
I'm good either way, I'm on ADL, so not planning to upgrade.

We'll just have to wait and see. Maybe Intel's 13th gen will crush AMD, even though it seems unlikely that they'll be that much ahead.

What really ticks me off is that Intel won't sell a CPU with 8 P cores and no E cores. I'm sure they don't do this as it would cannibalise sales of other models as it's the sweet spot. For the 12th gen, one can only go up to 6P0E.

The AMD leaks look to be parity with 12700K. I think the Zen 4 to buy is the X3D variants.

Think I'll skip this generation, don't see the point in upgrading at all.
I mean one could always get a Raptor lake of their fancy & match it to a Z690 board to cut costs, however my Rocket Lake rig is good enough for my gaming purposes at the moment. The only thing that could sway me is if a game comes that I really want & challenges my hardware setup on my 144hz/1440p monitor which is perfect enough for me anyway.
Imo, never upgrade unless one has a compelling reason too & at the moment & into the foreseeable future, there are no games that take my fancy as yet. It's horses for courses & my horse is still running well! :D

I have the same opinion as I saw the Ryzen 7000 'leak pricing'

I'd stay on the 12600, unless you can afford the 13900, that is the model that offers the most improvement from what you have, if your board can handle it.
lol it can take all alder lake and raptor lake processors, and no 13600k ...really? I feel like ~350ish $ for last gen flagship perfomance is good, and thats before any OC.... I mean I guess the 12600k is currently as good or better than the previous flagship..... and I agree, a stable 5.4 all core - p core 12600k with a top video card will run any game, period....and I'm honestly going to sell this strong silicon xfx qick 6700xt..and nab something new, Im very familiar with MPT and such now, so I feel like I could make a 6800 xt rip.....And that would prolly be my BEST upgrade... even more so than 13900 most likely......BUT I LOVE NEW PROCESSSOOORRRSSSS reeeeeeeeeeee,.. lol.. a 6800xt and a overclocked 13600 would bench so much better multicore than the 12600...tbf.. I know in real games, it would mean fuck all.. but... I just love to bench and tweak...idk.....

why on earth rise the price of Alder lake products ? They are one year old now... :kookoo:
Because I feel the performance bump on the Raptor Lake lineup will not be good across the board. If Alder Lake remains cheap, its gonna cannibalize the sale of Raptor Lake chips. As an Alder Lake user now, I see little excitement for Raptor Lake. It will be faster, its got more e-cores, but it is unexciting. The increase in e-cores will boost multithreaded performance, but don't do anything meaningul when thread utilization is low.

In any case, even with a better Raptor Lake CPU, Intel's strategy to increase price will work against them given that competition offers very competitive products and price. Furthermore, recession is really not that far off, and with rampant inflation on core products/ services that we use in our day to day life, not many people will be willing to splurge on expensive computer upgrades in the coming quarter and year ahead at least.

Well we live in troubled time with recesion already happening or we are about to enter one and war in Ukraine.
So Intel,Nividia and AMD have to either keep prices high and hope enough people buy their products or lover prices lose some profit per product, but sell more products.
In my opinion we should only look at launch prices if we are planning to buy RPL as soon as it becomes buyable becouse usualy prices change after CPUs are on market for some time.
Best thing is to wait a few months if you can so prices adopt alittle to current market
