Right so like, recession is defined as such: "Two consecutive quarters of negative GDP growth" as has been for a long time, irregardless of what current or former administrators are trying to change it to this year......This BTW has been met several times over in the USA...we are in a recession RIGHT NOW...........Moving on to your comment...SOOOOOO......you mean like... every cpu release since like...after northwood p4s single core... then? xD Im kidding, but....not really... Lets analyze the data.....The 12900k represented about 31-34% multi core increase over 11900k(and 10900k for the record) and 17-19% single core increase over 11900k(10900k)...which was and still is being praised by everyone, including me... as one of intels biggest bumps in real performance and a new socket ... in a LONG while...Now remember...11900k was like just slightly faster than 10900k and same for 10900k to 9900k with a bit larger of a gap, but not 11900k to alder lake #s by any means........(quoting cine/geek #s here)
Now lets get to some #s that are pretty much 100% confirmed by multiple sources, multiple articles and leakers...and can be googled...... out in the open(yes they vary, but not by much)....Raptor lake 13900k is pulling +15.5-20% single core in cine/geek and a +48%-52% multicore advantages in cine/geek... and some screens have appeared and leaked of 41% better result in 7zip bench......when compared to alder lake's 12900k ....so.. in the effort to keep this not full essay mode....We can make a small assumption and stay within reason and logic here one of two things happened for you to be on alder lake right now......Given the numbers known we now have.,... EITHER:
You were excited by alder lake enough to buy it and owned 11.9 or 10.9, and the excitement was deserved, a smaller arc...... Altho max turbo freq was down 100mhz from 11900k to 12900k....More Cores on Alder, more threads..Same 125w between the two...etc etc, But, you had to buy a brand new Motherboard and since you're a 12900k owner, it is a z series....expensive.... possible new ram, expensive...and of course the new processor(expensive)...to even get on Alder lake...But: Most likely.... you felt the JUICE was worth the squeeze and you paid out...a healthy amount to get to the juice.
OR:
You came from 3 or more generations back, which in that case...The differences gained between the early-mid i7s as the timeline moves on... and mid term i7/i9s are all less % wise than arguably Alder lake - > Raptor.....But you being a 12900k owner, im going to assume you had something recent... and like to keep up as much as you can.....going on that assumption, or this one....either or..
THUS:
You will have actually already paid more in hardware (motherboard/ram?/cpu12.900k) going from your last setup...(guessing but likely a 11900/10900k) or whatever.... to Alder lake and the 12900k than you ever could upgrading to raptor from Alder...(Knowing you are a z series board owner and you can just drop in the CPU)....No new Motherboard needed....SO in actuality you're sitting here calling raptor lake lineup not good lineup, a bump in the road, which is all good, you're entitled to that very opinion........But my question to you is how can you say that, when you've already paid MORE upgrading to Alder lake from previous gen... for less performance increase %-wise in the benches, than you would get if you just bought 1 item, the new cpu, which is supported on a board you already own.....( as far as we can tell )....I get you are using the board that you payed for previously and it should be split between the cost of both upgrades, but its a moot point. Because you STILL payed for the MB+Proc+poss ram JUST to get to Alder, AND for less performance increase from the previous 2 flagships to Alder.. than it would take to upgrade here soon to raptor lake 13900k, all while you would be gaining more performance than you just paid MORE to get less of...
Deducing to and knowing this, my response and my opinion to your 'weak line up' accusations and seemingly under researched opinion of the entire alder to raptor thing and their shared socket and raptor lake in general is as follows:
