The world's leading computer brand, GIGABYTE, announces Intel Z790 series gaming motherboards, which support the latest 13th and 12th generation Intel Core processors. GIGABYTE features the gaming-focused AORUS flagship and high-end models, including Z790 AORUS XTREME, Z790 AORUS MASTER, Z790 AORUS ELITE, and Z790 AORUS TACHYON. The Z790 AORUS lineup reign supreme with the most robust digital power and dominant metallic thermal designs to unleash the performance of the K-SKUs within the next-gen Intel Core processor series as well as the bandwidth of PCIe 5.0 and DDR5 memory.

For enthusiasts and creators seeking nothing but top-tier performance, the Z790 AORUS XTREME is equipped with the maximum 20-phase digital power design, direct touch 8 mm Mega-Heatpipes, and the full-covered VRM heatsinks to enhance heat dissipation and the system stability. Also, the Z790 AORUS gaming motherboards support PCIe 5.0 M.2 SSD with up to 10 GB/s bandwidth and access speed 40% faster compared to the last generation. Thanks to the full-covered VRM heatsinks and the M.2 Thermal Guard III heatsinks on the storage devices, data transfer is lightning fast without throttling even under heavy workloads. Moreover, GIGABYTE introduces several exclusive overclocking functions to the BIOS. Regardless of the memory profile, the DDR5 memory modules can be automatically boosted with one click through GIGABYTE's advanced overclocking techniques. With the friendly design of PCIe and M.2 EZ-Latch features on the AORUS Z790 gaming motherboards, GIGABYTE makes components swapping a whole lot easier.

With the support of dual-generation Intel processors, and the latest power and thermal designs, the AORUS Z790 series gaming motherboards deliver excellent performance, compatibility, stability, and durability for enthusiasts and power users. The full range of products will go on sale on October 20th.

I see they ditched 2 of the 6 SATA ports on the Aorus Master Z790...

Gigabyte Z790 MASTER has :-
1 x PCI Express x16 slot, supporting PCIe 5.0 and running at x16 (PCIEX16)
* The PCIEX16 slot shares bandwidth with the M2C_CPU connector. The PCIEX16 slot operates at up to x8 mode when a device is installed in the M2C_CPU connector. .. is like dealing with McDonald not With a high-end CPU .. SORRY FOR MCDONALDS.

  1. 1 x PCI Express x16 slot, supporting PCIe 3.0 and running at x4 (PCIEX4). Why not PCIe 4.0 running at x8
  2. 1 x PCI Express x16 slot, supporting PCIe 3.0 and running at x1 (PCIEX1) Why not PCIe 4.0 running at x4

GIGABYTE IS GOING BACKWARD. 04 SATA PORT ONLY......04 SATA ports.........hahahhahahhha..

YOU ONLY GET A FANCY BOX (with a motherboard built in 2004 ) FROM GIGABYTE... THAT'S ALL YOU WILL GET. hahhahahha

I will upgrade to ASUS OR MSI OR ASROCK ... NO MORE GIGABYTE

Why not PCIe 4.0 running at x8
This has never been an option on consumer chipset lanes. Nothing to do with Gigabyte.
AMD and Intel has exactly the same limitation here.

From what I've seen, all board makers use bifurcation with the x16 slot for an addtional one or even two M.2 slots, on some of their boards, as Intel doesn't support PCIe 5.0 on anything but the x16 interface from the CPU.

I wanted the Aorus Master for the 10gbe NIC, but only 4 SATA ports .... nope!
these board manufacturers are losing their fucking marbles with each generation - and it's not just GB

I wanted a 13th gen i7, I wanted a Z790 board with 10gbe NIC - looks like I need to look somewhere else
Z690 Aorus Master has a 10gbe NIC and 6 SATA ports .. how the fuck do we go less features for more $ .. how!!!! :kookoo:

only 4 SATA ports
Get the Z690 Aorus Master...

BTW I don't care much about 6 SATA ports on my Z690, I use NVMe's if I need more storage...

the moment Z790 hits the market, the Z690 boards will be unavailable like it always happens

I'm truly baffled and disappointed as the way it's going; I just don't ...
why do they need to put WiFi and crap RealTek 2.5gbe NICs on boards? jeeez H fucking christ, make the WiFi variant a separate thing but put a good 10gbe NIC on it, give us as many SATA ports as possible
what the actual fuck!

Hmmm...

I bet they got that backwards, or completely wrong. I'm seeing big jumps in DDR5 ratings on virtually all Z790 vs Z690. I just don't see Gigabytes available yet though.

This is the Asus Prime Z790-P Wifi, pretty much the definition of a 'decent' low end X90 board:

When I bought my Z690 Aorus Master, May 2022, this was on their website
Screenshot 2022-09-27 233013.png

So that is still correct, I'm running 6000 Mhz memory on my Z690 Aorus Master.

So best buy looks to be the Aorus Master Z690.

I don't think they downgraded it, looks like an error \ bad info of some kind to me. For what I've looked at, rated speeds either stayed the same or went up on everything.
