On the one hand, they won't be able to justify selling a $900 4070. That's a small win. On the other hand, they won't sell anything new until their inventory of the old stuff lasts. So ultimately, the "4080 12 GB" didn't get cancelled - it only got delayed to be released by another name later. Nvidia will probably sit on their AD104 chips until 30-series stock completely dries out to make sure there is a shortage of similarly priced cards. As long as they have the upper hand with better RT, DLSS and the Tensor cores, they don't need to compete on price - the only thing they need is a shortage of Nvidia cards, which they can create whenever they want to. We may win battles like this one, but the war can only be won by decent competition.
