Apple today announced financial results for its fiscal 2022 fourth quarter ended September 24, 2022. The Company posted a September quarter record revenue of $90.1 billion, up 8 percent year over year, and quarterly earnings per diluted share of $1.29, up 4 percent year over year. Annual revenue was $394.3 billion, up 8 percent year over year, and annual earnings per diluted share were $6.11, up 9 percent year over year.

"This quarter's results reflect Apple's commitment to our customers, to the pursuit of innovation, and to leaving the world better than we found it," said Tim Cook, Apple's CEO. "As we head into the holiday season with our most powerful lineup ever, we are leading with our values in every action we take and every decision we make. We are deeply committed to protecting the environment, to securing user privacy, to strengthening accessibility, and to creating products and services that can unlock humanity's full creative potential."

"Our record September quarter results continue to demonstrate our ability to execute effectively in spite of a challenging and volatile macroeconomic backdrop," said Luca Maestri, Apple's CFO. "We continued to invest in our long-term growth plans, generated over $24 billion in operating cash flow, and returned over $29 billion to our shareholders during the quarter. The strength of our ecosystem, unmatched customer loyalty, and record sales spurred our active installed base of devices to a new all-time high. This quarter capped another record-breaking year for Apple, with revenue growing over $28 billion and operating cash flow up $18 billion versus last year."

Apple's board of directors has declared a cash dividend of $0.23 per share of the Company's common stock. The dividend is payable on November 10, 2022 to shareholders of record as of the close of business on November 7, 2022.

Apple will provide live streaming of its Q4 2022 financial results conference call beginning at 2:00 p.m. PT on October 27, 2022 at apple.com/investor/earnings-call. This webcast will be available for replay for approximately two weeks thereafter.

Apple periodically provides information for investors on its corporate website, apple.com, and its investor relations website, investor.apple.com. This includes press releases and other information about financial performance, reports filed or furnished with the SEC, information on corporate governance, and details related to its annual meeting of shareholders.

Damn, makes you wonder how Dell and HP and the like are doing, given everyone else overestimating demand. I know I could Google these things, but

Does anyone find the way Apple talks about themselves a bit, I dunno, disgusting?
All this talk about leaving the world a better place when they use borderline slave labour and put highly recyclable materials like Aluminium into a shell that cannot be recycled and manufacture components that can't be economically serviced?

Also the word "unlock", while a part of standard marketing vocabulary, sticks out more badly when Apple uses it.

Annual revenue was $394.3 billion
I saw that number and I google about Greece.
$222.010 billion per annum
The economy of Greece is the 53rd largest in the world, with a nominal gross domestic product (GDP) of $222.010 billion per annum.
It does look like those "megacorporations" we hear about in sci fi movies and dystopian futures.

sorry for the off topic.

Apple wants profits, saving the planet for real is not profitable.

Except that when the planet is over, there will no longer be any profits, for anyone :D

It's interesting that I have never used, owned or touched any Apple product, and I don't plan to buy anything from them ever.

I recently bought Apple USB-C to 3.5mm adapter, because it's very cheap and decent quality.

What Apple is doing or how they are doing financially is just background noise to me. I have never bought an Apple product and I never will. I won't pay the "Apple Logo Tax" to look cool.

My small phone is four years old, so possibly ripe for an upgrade in about two years. In the unfortunate (but probable) case that no one else offers a small phone at that time, I'l have to buy a small Apple phone. I'm sorry, Sony. Well, that's if Apple doesn't give up on small SE phones by then. Oh, and did I say small?

Actually, if we’re talking environmental, consider Apple has been pursuing low power devices across the entire line, which means they use fewer materials and consume far less energy when it comes to desktops. They offer to recycle your old devices for free, or give you store credit if it’s still a more recent item. Contrast that with anything coming out from NVIDIA, Intel, and AMD. I had an M1 mini that only consumed UP TO 25W at full tilt and was absolutely performant enough for my photography hobby. Yeah, they talk big on themselves, but they actually are the only ones going for less energy consumption and their Mac lines are selling better than I can ever recall.

Negative Apple troupes from non-Apple user are about as bad as what Apple users say about Windows, IMO. I don’t love all things Apple, but many arguments are dated on both sides, IMO.

Seriously, this line "[Insert company here] has been pursuing low power devices across the entire line" is actually becoming outdated and boring at the same time. It's not a company job to educate me, and tell me what I want. If I want to "save the Earth" I can easily buy 25W adaptor for any Android phone out there from literally ANYWHERE. I even can buy 10W if I'm worried so much about this Eco thing. Problem with Apple ecosystem is that I do not have any choice. They dictate what I want to buy or want I need too, even. I bought a phone, but I don't own anything because the OS is locked, Apps are locked only to their store, even the stupid cables are locked by them and need expensive licensed cable to be able to fully use it.
I know some people are like sheeps and enjoy their life being dictated by someone else, but there are some that don't. The problem is, by looking at Apple's financial results, that the former are, sadly, the majority.

Actually, it’s that there are tons of people who don’t care about, or want, customizing or hundreds of choices. They want to buy it, set it up, and forget about it. Apple has always sold to this demographic quite well. Apple also has a distinct advantage of not being MS or Google. MacOS has largely behaved and looked similarly for many years, which is good for folks who don’t want to relearn how to use their computer or go to a new control panel after every major update. I know lots of “common folk” who hate software changing for the sake of changing. Apple gets those folks pretty well.

Keep in mind Apple customers had been pissed at Apple for years over the state of the Mac (crap keyboards, stupidly thin laptops that had no ports and throttled, trash can pro). It wasn’t until Apple started putting out good hardware again that they saw their Mac business grow. iPad is still the best tablet experience out there, IMO, if only because developers actually make the apps for it. They do that because iPads sell in volume and Apple customers spend money on apps. Macs aren’t for gaming, but their hardware is actually really good at some other things, and their new hardware gets supported by developers quickly. It’s the pro and con of the Apple system.

They don't even care about economics, they are a status symbol, people that buy apple shit have money period. Or don't have money, and they don't care about money either way, they just stupidly buy shit they can't afford.
