Reference 3080ti fan control

I have what I assume to be a reference 3080ti blower style generic card. My problem is the fan won't go below 30% which is annoying when idling. I've tried updating the bios with all the reference 3080ti's I could find but the update tool says "ERROR: Firmware image is not compatible with the board configuration.". Any ideas of any other way to get this below 30%? Before Windows is loaded it goes under that but once it loads, it's a constant 30%.

Tried setting fan control settings in a third party program, such as MSI Afterburner?

I set the fan control with MSI Afterburner for my 3080 to not run the fans until it hits 40C, then I ramp up the fan speed to 80% if temps hit 80C (never had the card get over 75C as of yet).

Yes I have the fan curve set to 0 as well but it just doesn't work. Still goes to 30% at minimum, then ramps up from there.

Oddly enough I'm going through the exact same thing. I've not found any way to get the fan below 30%. It's so loud I've thought about just taking the shroud off and just slapping a case fan on it. Let me know if you find any solutions!

I have an MSI 3080ti with the cooler removed for an Alphacool full coverage block, so no fans on the GPU at all. Even with the header unplugged, the fan control reads 30% minimum. Pretty sure this is hard coded in some cards that do not have fan stop tech on them. It appears that 30% is the minimum it allows.

So I ended up ordering this cable that reduces the speed of the fans. Downside is max fan speed would then be 70%, but I think it should still cool ok at that. It's just too loud as is, I'm having to disable the GPU every time I'm not using it. https://www.ebay.com/itm/224764746920

This is the way. Am using AB too. Ambient temps matter too, I had to set to 50c because I keep my apartment warm. Besides, 30% fan is not that noticeable unless you're right next to it with the side off.

If your fan ramps up, stop trying to minimize speeds. If noise bothers you, put the side panel back on and stop sitting on top of it, of get better fans for your card cuz 30% is quiet enough to make your case fans the real noise issue.

30% might be fine with your GPU, but this one it is not. I can hear it downstairs around a corner with the PC upstairs in a room. It's a blower style which are much louder. I'm ok with it in gaming because I'm in VR using headphones but not while working at my desk. People can't even hear me well over the 30% speed during Teams meetings.

You're not going to get it below 30% during gpu usage, you could shut the fan off by setting the temp limit shutoff higher, maybe 60c and set curve from there.

I despise blower fans and all of them should be smashed into tiny pieces. I assume replacing the fan with normal fans is out too. Other than than that, move your case away from your desk wrap in a blanket and a circle of salt.

EDIT: if you set the stop speed an a higher temp, increase case fan speeds to keep it below that threshold.

We must have gotten the same one or something, several people have told me they are not that loud at idle. Mine sounds like a hair dryer just sitting on windows.

There seems to be a hard coded minimum of 30% fan speed on this card. It doesn't go lower or stop even with fan controller software.
