The Azza Legionaire sports a unique metal mesh side panel all while offering an E-ATX capable interior and the usual features of an ARGB controller, four fans and plenty of radiator support. With such a side panel, thermals are certainly something we will look at to see if a mid-tower can benefit from the same access to cool exterior air as small form factor enclosures.

thermal tests are disappointing considering the mesh side panel, may as well stick with a glass panel with those results.

I think the 'compatibility' part on page 1 of case reviews needs to start showing if a case can take a 4090/4080, while being able to still close the side of the case without a dangerous bend in the cable.

i.e. It looks like even the 4080's (as 4090's are a given), can not fit in a lot of cases, in a normal gpu pci slot fitting, without undue stress on the side mounted 12 pin connecter.

On a side note, I do wish gpu's still came with end based connectors, instead of side only.

It's not realistic to expect reviews to do that. For one, each 4090 / 4080 has different dimensions. Two, people who don't bend their cables can still have their 4090's adapter burn up as has been evidenced in many posts on the Nvidia reddit. In addition, both the 4090 and 4080 are extremely niche products given their price tags.

It's not that hard to find out if a case has enough room. Look at the GPU clearance numbers of the case and then compare that to your GPU's size plus 40mm (35mm required space + 5mm for the plastic connector sticking out).

Now what would be interesting, instead of just doing something for 4090 / 4080 owners, is a visualizer tool that lets you select a case and GPU and shows a 3D image of the amount of space taken inside the case. Heck it doesn't even need to show the actual parts, you could just have 2 3D rectangles, one for the amount of free space inside the case and the other for the GPU. A solution like this would incidentally benefit 4090 / 4080 owners.

I daresay the best fan config on this isn't the one being tested, and that would be to add 3 fans to the roof on intake to create a positive pressure scenario to force air out the mesh whilst still having enough positive pressure to make it to components before exhausting. As is I bet those front fans aren't even hitting components before losing much of what they are doing out the side of the mesh.

Wonder what the dust filtration is like on that side panel? If its decent, could possibly work rather well, although it'd be fighting the natural path of the GPU of it exhausting out the side.

I am hoping this heralds a new age of mesh side panels, or at the very least a return to an option of metal panels on high end cases. I have considered making a wood side panel for my O11 Air Mini, but it would be a bit thin, I'd have to be creative with some glued on reinforcements.
