Thanks everyone,To clarify here it's mixture of the CPU and motherboard BIOS (AGESA version). The AMD 7000 series has a very hard time above 6200. You may get lucky with a CPU that can handle 6400.
Some of the motherboards will not work above DDR5-6000. Best to look at the spec sheet. I would say QVL list, but a lot of them are putting 6600 on there. That's just pretty much impossible to run right now.

Can you post links to their memory QVL lists?I noticed that many of the under 500 dollar mb do not support above 4800 DDR5 ram
For AMD? I can see that if you are trying to load up with 128GB (4x32GB), but that isn't the limitation of the motherboard, rather the CPU IMC.I noticed that many of the under 500 dollar mb do not support above 4800 DDR5 ram
Any particular review to read?Go Intel. Just check out the CPU reviews on TPU to see why.

Always look at the motherboard manufacturer website for QVL list before buying any board.Hello,
What is the highest frequency DDR5 ram that AM5 supports?
Thanks everyone,
So is it worth going Intel or AMD fine?
ThanksAlways look at the motherboard manufacturer website for QVL list before buying any board.
The max official support speed is 6600 for 2X16GB Dimms and 6400 with some 4X16GB Dimms
Probably not a good idea to go 32GB per Dimm on this board.

AMD is a better choice IMHO AM5 has a future update path Intel Z690/Z790 is a dead end platform.

There have been a few recent ones. Just have a look at them. They're quite long, so you don't have to read everything, just enough to understand how the Intel's perform. The conclusion and some of the graphs will do.Any particular review to read?
