Good practice is to NEVER mix PSU cables, ever. Can fry the PSU and the device it is connected to. Like Asrock said, check with the manufacturer if you must try to use it.

Never tempt fate. I have a mate who thought all cables where the same, fried one of his mates SSD and HD drives because of it.. Never worth risking hardware over a PSU cable. Always worth an ask.

PCIE PEG cables sometimes, but SATA and MOLEX, no way. Killed a hard drive figuring this out the hard way. Cables should not be swapped around, even with the same brand.

@Verbatim Cybenetics lists 3 separate versions of the V750 Gold. The two older ones from couple years ago are made by Chicony, but the newest one from 2021 is from a different OEM.

In any case, Cooler Master seems to be rather cagey with publishing pinouts for its PSUs. On sleeved cable vendors' websites you can usually find a lot of documentation for compatibility on EVGA/Corsair/Seasonic, but not much for Cooler Master. I wouldn't risk it, even if you're only deciding between the two Chicony-made V750s.

Hi,
I wouldn't trust aliexpress for it's third party sellers accuracy most of all.

GPU pins are pretty basic layout but you can't see the actual ends at all so you'd have to get a closer look
This is for a gpu right ?

There is no industry standard for the PSU end of modular cables. So different makers have their own, often proprietary ways. So NEVER mix cables from different brands.

But to make matters worse, since the brand name sellers typically buy their supplies from OEM makers, and they often use different OEM makers for their different models, we cannot even safely mix and match cables between models from the same brand! :( :(

Thanks for replying it's definitely not worth to test it. Will use only original cables instead.

Question about PSU cable compatibility.

Will this 6+2pin GPU cable from old version of Cooler Master V750 Gold work with newer V750 Gold V2 version ?

I had a previous study about this PSU.
I repaired this serial PSU, which was faulty, and regained it.
Maybe the pictures can help you.

The answer is yes, but only if you have the two cables on hand and can manually check the individual pinouts of each cable are identical.

If they're not, you can re-pin them manually because Mini-Fit Jr. connectors are easy to modify with patience and a couple of bent staples.

Double-check your work. Crossing wires can do anything from blowing the internal fuse in your PSU to starting a fire; There are no good outcomes.

Some cables have small filter caps in line to reduce noise and add capacitance. So even if the connectors are identical, and your Ohm meter shows the pin-outs are the same, they still may not be interchangeable.

Unless truly qualified to determine all the characteristics of each conductor in the cables to ensure they are identical, I do not recommend it.

Not here, you can see the cables are bare-wire, flat ribbons, unsleeved.
Thankfully the practice of putting caps in modular cables is frowned upon by any reviewer, so it seems to be less common now than it was 10 years ago.
Still, a valid concern if you take it in the wider context of "any modular cable".
