Hello, this is my first topic ever on this website, so sorry if I made mistakes or if things could be more clearly. Also English is not my native language, I will try to answer as best as possible.
I made this topic already on a Dutch techwebsite, so I will copy the text from there to here in English. The short question however is simple: I have made the configuration below what I want to order. Now I would like your advice on what could be done better and so on.

---> Text copied from Dutch techsite, where these questions are a requirement to answer <---
What do you want to do with your new system?
Fully focused on gaming at 1440p and 144Hz with everything on ultra. These include games such as BF1, CoD, NFS, Assassin's Creed. No streaming, office work or other things, just pure gaming.

What will the system cost?
No fixed maximum amount, but would like to stay around 3000 to 4000.

Are there any components or peripherals you already have that you want to take with you to your new system?
Have a 5TB HDD laying around that will go back in, don't know the exact model yet. Furthermore, a mouse and keyboard that go with it, and an insignificant box set.

What do you think you need?
For this build I opted for as much NZXT as possible, I am a big fan of their clean look as with this motherboard for example. But if the quality is bad, as well as the PSU and case, I'm happy to change that. Monitor is not sure yet that it will be this one, but it will be a QD-OLED screen anyway, so this one is printed in between as an example.

Do you have any specific (brand) preferences?
As said, I'm a big fan of NZXT and their clean look, but if the quality is disappointing, then rather something else.

Do you have any specific requirements/wishes?
Energy consumption must remain somewhat within the standards, a 4090 video card in principle just not, those prices are no longer about anything. I would also like to keep AMD as the CPU. Also want to be able to handle cable management as best as possible
to suit.

Would also like to mount the GPU vertically, if that is not too much heat or the like. costs .

Are you going to overclock?
No

What do you expect from us?
Advice whether the above combinations are good, and if you know better combinations let me know.

Hmm I tought this NZXT is a decent motherboard? I really like the simplistic and 'clean' style, which I haven't seen on any other motherboard. Do you have a link to a motherboard you recommend?

About the H7 Flow, is it good enough with the cooling or would you recommend something else?

And about the RAM, what do you mean exactly with 'properly at 3000/3000/2000 on some boards just make sure you get a board that can easily run at least 32GB of it'? I mean this motherboard supports up to 128GB, with the AMD EXPO feature the mobo will tune itself to the optimal settings right?

I'd pick this over it at the same price

Step up option

Not all boards will run 6000 CL30 properly even with expo enabled to get the best performance the baord has to be able to sync the mem/uclk at 3000 with the Fclk at 2000... I much prefer the asus Bios over the asrock/nzxt if you have to do this manually. I'm not saying it won't work on the board you've chosen but with amd I've had the most issues with asrocks interpretation of their agesa.

The Elite AX board that @Chrispy_ mentioned I'd also take over that NZXT board though.

The case is fine if you like it cases are a pretty personal choice in my opinion and the cooling performance of it is good enough for any setup.

I'd pick the 011 Dynamic evo or Corsair 7000D airflow over it but both options are a personal thing

Links just for reference

Both come in black as well.

There are a ton of good cases in that general price range though so just do your research and it'll be hard to make a bad decisions.

Significantly better motherboard, cooling and PSU options exist for similar prices, but you've stated you prefer NZXT, so you're pretty stuck with those choices if that's the priority.

I'm no expert on boards, but I think I'd personally pick the X670 Aorus Elite AX which is mostly black, $60 cheaper than the H7, and has a higher-tier chipset with reasonably good independent and customer reviews alike. If the Zen4 3D-vCache CPUs also don't overclock you won't need crazy high-end VRM design and mad topology for huge overclocks, in which case a solid feature set and high-end chipset with plenty of connectivity would be my first choice. I could be wrong, and Zen4 X3D chips might be great overclockers, but going on what we know at the moment, it's unlikely.

If you can't think of a solid reason why you need X670, one of the best B650 choices you can make is the MSI B650 Carbon WiFi. All you're really giving up over the E variant is PCIe 5.0 on the GPU slot, and by the time PCIe 5.0 is relevant on the GPU side, it's highly likely that AM5 will be end-of-life and you'll be looking at AM6 and Intel 18th gen or something like that. The Carbon WiFi is a simpler board with extremely overbuilt VRM and RAM topology. It's made for overclocks and fast DDR5, so it's quite expensive for what it is, but against the NZXT N7 it still looks very reasonably priced.

Thanks for the suggestions, I took a quick look at them and both look good indeed spec wise. In terms of looks, I find them a bit disappointing, but that is also a personal taste of course. I think that I will indeed refrain from buying an NZXT mobo, support for the BIOS, which is clearly better with other manufacturers, is more important.

Hi,
Yeah that's a good deal for 980 pro 2tb atm so don't delay
I'm wondering myself why I haven't added to cart yet
Well, go for it :toast:

I'd pick this over it at the same price

Damn that are also nice mobos, thanks for your suggestions. And thanks for the info on the RAM memory, I guess when I have received all the parts once I have ordered everything, I will first try using the AMD EXPO option in the BIOS. If it automatically sets the settings correctly, I don't have to do anything manually because I'm not very familiar with that.
That LIAN LI case is a beauty, but it is just as you said a personal opinion. At some point it is better not to look any further and just order what you have selected at that moment, otherwise you will find something different every time.

That is not entirely true, not necessarily tied to NZXT, but indeed a fan of their clean look. But with all the suggestions so far, it might turn out to be something completely different.

A little less active on the forum in the coming days, but thanks so far everyone! Keep you posted and keep the suggestions coming!

I'm really not a fan of most styling from most Asian AIBs. It's all stupid fantasy nonsense - dragons, steampunk, birds of prey, fake military camo/emblems etc. WTF does any of that have to do with an electronics PCB vendor?! At any rate, a black board with the RGBLED disabled is going to vanish into the background of most cases. The CPU cooler and RAM dominate your view of the top half of the board and the bottom half of the board is entirely obscured by most higher-end GPUs given their pyhysical size.

Basically, as long as the board isn't a total eyesore, you're not really going to be able to see it in a built PC so I'm mostly fine with something that's mostly black and doesn't have a ton of bright colours all over it. @oxrufiioxo's suggestion of the Asus Prime models are definitely boards I can recommend, but they're quite bright and hard to miss with all their white and silver which is why I didn't mention them.

I certainly agree with you. Must say that I liked such motherboards before with all the bells and whistles, but over the years your taste has changed and I now indeed prefer to see them as simple as possible in terms of look.

Agree with @oxrufiioxo suggestion, they look good in terms of specs, but it's a shame about the white and silver color that makes me not prefer that motherboard as a 1st option.

Little update: found another interesting case, the Lian Li LanCool 216: https://www.techpowerup.com/review/lian-li-lancool-216-rgb/

My only doubts: is a 360mm AiO possible if you also want to mount the video card vertically? I can't quite get that clear from various videos etc. of this case.
2nd point: the availability. I can pre-order this case in the Netherlands, but what is the expected delivery time to consumers? Can't find anything about it unfortunately.

Anyone willing to share thoughts on this?

Should be fine even with a large gpu. What vertical mount where you planning on using?
Lian li has a history of underestimating demand for their cases I waited months for the silver varient of the 011 Dynamic XL.

Thank you. I'm most likely to buy a Kraken X73 CPU cooler, but I was wondering with the thickness of the fans when you install in in top of the case, if there is enough room for a vertical (7900XTX) GPU mount.
I was planning to use the NZXT vertical mount kit, but when I'm buying this Lian Li case, I guess i'm better of with a specific mount from Lian Li right?
Can't find one for this 216 case yet...

About the availability, nothing really to say yet as I understand.

Look at the cable mods verticle mount I like it better. And yeah a 7900XTX would be fine vertical you just really want it 2-3 inches away from the glass or temps will be bad.
