MOONDROP enters the competitive planar magnetic IEM market with the STELLARIS. It's an intricate set with novel drivers placed inside impressive looking and feeling shells, but weighed down by poor fit and tonality to make this a divisive product at best.

Benchmark Scores bench...mark? i do leave mark on bench sometime, to remember which one is the most comfortable. :o
nice, well, between the Dioko and Stellaris the price is enticing for a entry in the PMD IEMs domain.

the Dioko has an advantage imho 10$lower price is a big deal  but the shell design ... the Stellaris is impressive and it pack memory foam tips (well i could also re use the FH1s tips is the diameter fits)
packaging and content both are impressive for the price asked ... (although ... Moondrop packaging/box are, hum, well i like them, here, i said it ... happy? :D )

also i tick each time i read Zetian Wu ...
or Wu Zhao/Wu Hou/Tian Hou

yes by history lessons ... not via the mobile game Fate Grand Order ... although FGO Wu Zetian would make a nice MoonDrop box artwork ...

if i read correctly, the Dioko is a better choice than the Stellaris, right?
(now i just have to hope one of my retailer/etailer would kindly get them in stock  )

Yeah, it's not hard to get something better than the Stellaris tbh. Also, Zetian Wu is indeed named after that person.

i see, well the stellaris are not stellar... what a shocker ... although i like the shells  (and box) but it's not worth 10$ more if the essential part is not up to par

also i do know the Zetian Wu are named after her ... but the inversion tick me off  i always did read Wu Zetian and not the opposite to a point that it bug me when i see it like that

Piece of foam that was called tuning sponge is great solution. I wonder that metal grid is more common cause it's pretty weak against wax and hard to clean.

Metal grill filters are more common, yes.

I find it hard to imagine that the same company that released a string of excellent IEMs at reasonable prices should have come up with the Stellaris. If Letshuoer and other manufacturers can enclose a generic planar driver in a small, unobtrusive shell with a comfortable fit, why did Moondrop feel the need to create such an ugly, over-weight, and over-designed lemon?

The problems with the VOID release (not sure what they were) and the subsequent recall must have hurt Moondrop financially. I suspect the Stellaris will hurt them even more.
