According to this news, 13900k 9 GHz has been overclocked. I think it was the first time 9 GHz was reached, the last time I saw a high overclock value in the AMD FX series.

A pretty useless achievement - the CPU could do nothing aside from showing this frequency.

Show an OC where the CPU is at least usable as a CPU, i.e. being able to run some tests.

Oh, and they leaked the yet to be released 13900KS CPU. LMAO.

It's even funnier they used Windows XP. Why? Has almost no background tasks which could render the system unstable.

Windows 10/11 have literally many dozens of background tasks waking up and doing something all the time.

There is a lot of pain in the AMD camp. Calm down guys. Don't despair.
To approve a record, the processor must be stable until the data is sent to the site. Just don't think that the old AMD record was approved after 24 hours of Prime 95.

Those overclocks are not stable. The goal is to get a CPUZ screenshot and that's it.
Yes The goal of most of all these high-frequency overclocking CPUs is to be #1 on the record.

I don't belong to any camps. Doing so is beyond stupid and indicates a total lack of intelligence. And thanks for the insult. Oh, and your comment strongly suggests you are in the intel camp. My condolences.

I've had these CPUs in my life: Celeron, Pentium, Sempron, Athlon and lately Core i5 2500 (ran it for almost a decade), Ryzen 3700X/5800X. I always buy what's best for the buck when I need/want to upgrade. I don't care about brand one bit. And I'd love to upgrade to Ryzen 7700X because I do care about power consumption and Raptors haven't impressed me. Besides ADL/RPL CPUs are still not properly supported by Linux which I run 99% of the time, so currently Intel is not for me. It's kinda crazy that Linux doesn't properly support something as absolutely crucial as the CPU but it's the situation we live in.

To approve a record, the processor must be stable until the data is sent to the site. Just don't think that the old AMD record was approved after 24 hours of Prime 95.
Stable doesn't mean "properly working or usable".

Anyway, this is not a job that everyone wants to do, most users want a normal stable overclock, the purpose of such a high frequency is to rank 1st in the record list rather than stability, most of his previous records are like this.

Well if it is a CPU-Z validated screenshot. CPU-Z does put a small R20 type of load on the CPU cores before it validates.

The submission in this case was not validated so looks like they used extreme OC mode or something that caused validation to fail.

This is the same way Elon Musk sent his Tesla to Mars , it moved at an amazing speed :) good for a "screenshot" but doesnt prove much if you cant do anything with it :) but its still something fun to see and we have to start with something :D

Pretty awesome!

Who cares if its stable or not?

I wouldn't expect it to be stable passed 7500Mhz.

Not if you want to create a constantly moving goal post to distract your competitors

btw, it's over 9000 MHz!!!

They threw everything in the book to achieve this. Even as far as using a 32 bit operating system.

As a competitive bencher, my hat is off to these gentlemen. They've always been an inspiration to the OC community.
According to the CPU-Z validation they used Windows 7 Professional 64-bit

Read up, Intel recently beat that already, though I think even that was not that useable as someone has already said.

That's part of the validation discrepancy.

CPU-Z 32bit won't open on a 64 bit operating system, that's how I know it was done with W7 32bit.

Which is exactly what I would have used as well.

In fact 32 bit is the go to with a lot of benchmarking (competitively) while 64bit rarely brings any gains.

32bit is great for max clocks, pifast, pimod, ect ect. Believe it or not, it's usually more stable for benching also.

I would have installed W7 x32 starter edition myself, or even an Nlited version of x32 starter. All services off and post in diag mode.

But nvm any OS secrets I would know about, let's just bask in the glowing glow of the accomplishment. I've only reached 7600mhz myself.

All your rhetoric proves that you are in the AMD camp. You use the same cliché as everyone else, easy to notice.
Which part of "overclock record" do you not understand. Over, clock or record? It's fixed like throwing the spear in tournaments. Distance matters, not precision, and the spear must not hit rabbits in the heart.

And what birdie was saying was that it was a wild shot with the spear and that they used a sling assist to boost the distance, whereas an useful record would be how far away you can hit a rabbit with a spear barehanded.

I understand the "because you can" factor in achieving these insane clocks.
I was in an overclocking competition done by toms hardware in 2008 called "overdrive" I remember we were having stability issues at 6ghz on LN2 (Core 2 e8600)
had to be stable enough to run our benchmarks and submit our scores.

Those overclocks are not stable. The goal is to get a CPUZ screenshot and that's it.
The goal is to get a CPU-Z validation file, not a screenshot but you can snap one if you'd like.
