Hi,
Bad thing about mATX boards is where the pci-e slot is in relation to where the standoff screws are
The bottom of the mATX board hasn't got a lot of support for a gpu

Just installing a gpu there is a risk of snapping the mother board pushing it into the pci-e slot.
No support so you should fit something rubber behind the board and between the case on the bottom

That's just a bad example of a typical mATX MB though. I assume you posted this point due to concerns about MB warping and GPU sag. Most mATX MBs anymore have the bottom mounts arranged so that the bottom Pci-E slot is kind of diagonally in between them. And as far as all this goes, most top Pci-E slots on mATX MBs are in line with the middle 3 mount holes, which is where most would mount the GPU on such a board, especially since SLI is pretty much unsupported anymore.

Here's an example of a more modern well made mATX MB, and the upper Pci-Ex slot is steel reinforced as well.

That's a funny Heatsink fan his pitting in there, never seen one like that before I see the reason why it is a Dell o_O Intel build.
His playing games without a GPU? o_OHave not seen any of those games apart from Tomb raider that is.o_O I see that CEX gas an i5 2500k in three London shops near me for £8 and get it before it goes. :)I will buy it and fit it in the future

I agree. Not all boards are the same.

Yet most are very similar. They have to be because the real I/O ports on a microATX board are in the same place as a full ATX board. Same with the upper most card slots. This is how microATX board are able to fit (and line up properly) inside a standard mid or full size ATX case.

This means the mounting points in the case for the top PCIe slot are the same regardless if a microATX board is installed or a standard ATX board is installed. Now if the board maker puts a mounting hole there, or not, that's a different story.

Can i put a Micro ATX board in a ATX case?As i was looking on ebay for a full sized mother board at less than £30 i see so few of them.I am trying to work out where the stand offs would go for a Micro board.
And can i try a PSU on a motherboard with just connecting the PSU to it?
You can put it.

That sounds very logical to me Bill :)

I decided as it was a newer platform I would go for that.:) Plus the fact even my i5 2320 would blow away the top Q9650.:)
And that at a later date I will get an i5 2500k Cex has got it in store now for £12,
How do you make those red circles on Photos?o_O I just tried one of my old Dell PSUs, into the mains a green light comes on but the fan not spinning, does it only spin up when the 24 and 4 pin connecters are connected to the motherboard?o_O
I'm jealous that here in Finland there isn't CEX dammit.

Don't be sorry. They have them here in England and they're a rippoff. For example, I've seen used and battered looking graphics cards sold for the same price as new ones of the exact same model, even the same price as a newer generation too. They pull this trick widely. Have a browse maybe, but don't buy.

And of course, should something be traded in, they give you a pittance for it.

Maybe in some instances, but generally no. Also, don't forget that used stuff often has faults too and they likely won't disclose it before sale either.

If they have an item in your local store at least you know what you are getting. I don,t know what happens if the item has a problem, in my case I bought a CPU and did not work on my PC I got a refund. But I would never buy an item online, as I have read reviews of GPUs they have received that don,t work or are in a terrible state like you say. Plus the fact you never know what version you are going to get. You are right about the pittance they give you back got items you buy something for a pound and they just give you one penny. o_OI gon,t know how those YouTubers that get stuff that CEX gives them a decent price. I look in the same places as them at Bootfaires and charity shops but never get any games that Crx would give you at a decent price.

I would certainly not buy online from them either. That's just asking for trouble.

All good points there. :)

Plus the fact quite a few of the games don,t have the manuals and charge the same price as if they did. If you go in the store you of course you can look if they have a manual
or not.But if you buy on line you don,t know if they have a manual.I will only buy games with a manual.

I don,t know why myself, it is touch and go
what you get, and some don,t even worko_OI would have thought they should check to see if they work before sending them outo_OYou might be lucky and get something decent but I should think that's a needle in a haystack/. I am lucky here in London as there are a lot of there shops here.I found this one 34 discs £18 for cash £4 voucher £6. At the end of the day,t my local flea market they chuck the stuff they have not sold and i have got quite a few that cex would pay 10p, and one or two they would give me £2 there in the minority of couese.

So the fan can be spinning on the motherboard and can mean the motherboard can still be faulty if does not post to the monitor.

Hi,
Yep
No post code you have to go by mem/ cpu/ gpu lights
If no lights then as long as you're sure the connections to the monitor are good and graphic's is good then board or cpu is bad.
Always a good policy to disconnect and reconnect monitor connections and of course press that power switch on it to ;)

I have not tried it with the Monitor .The first time i i tried it was everthing connected apart from that and HDD. or SSD.The thing that worked was the orange light on the motherboard .only one 4pin was connected ,The second time i had the PSU connected
with 2x4 and the Power SW cable that is when i heard the bang. After that i tried the PSU on the mains it went bang and blue smoke.I will try an old Dell Psu which i tried on the motherboard with just the Power SW same thing just the light on the PSU and Motherboard.I am going to try it on a old HP motherboard which was working tell the Hp PSU packed up.

Hi,
Without a monitor not sure what you're expecting to happen
Without a cpu and cooler thermal shut down wouldn't take much time to activate.
