The question is when to the swingeing price cuts start on the rest of the 40** series? Probably won't be too long as they're largely gathering dust on the shelves from what I've heard.

When you look at the specs for the 4060 Ti it is basically a lower midrange Ada GPU. $550 is absurd.

In terms of price, I think it will be like this when I proportion to the RTX 4070 Ti.
4070 Ti 799$
4070 650-699$
4060 Ti 550-599$

"could consume less power than predecessor"

Yeah except the predecessor was based on an xx104 class GPU and this isn't. Yet another downgrade (plus the price hike) in the product stack.

1)The lower consumption is somehow expected, given 4080's efficiency.
2)550$ you mention seems unrealistic, even for Nvidia. Of course after all we have seen during the last 3 years nothing is impossible for THE greedy company.:kookoo:
3)The biggest problem could indeed be the narrow memory bus for a card of 3070 level or higher. It's not right to compare different generations and architectures, but the 3060 for example (a much weaker card) took a hit going from 192-bit of the 12gb version to 128-bit of the 8gb version.

I'm waiting till the full range is released before buying. I suspect that there may be some price drops as the 4070Ti is widely available still. Personally.... I think the prices are nuts but enthusiast/top end cards have always been nuts but the general mainstream card like your 4060ti -4070Ti should be priced realistically, if they did this they would sell crazy amounts of them. Time will tell!

The question is when to the swingeing price cuts start on the rest of the 40** series?
When NV sells enough Amperes to satisfy it's margins at similar price point (to "lowered" Ada cards).

There is no tragedy, suppose 4060 is as fast as 3060, going up we get more benefits. 4060 ti slightly faster than 3060 ti, 4070 slightly faster than 3070 ti.

And no it won't cost 550, 350 max, nobody at Nvidia in their right mind is thinking 190mmsq. 128 bit card is worth that much. Even though 4080 is the double of that, it won't cost double.

I want a bottom end RTX 4010 or RTX 4030 to play with. I'd even pay over the odds for it as it still won't cost that much. Would be great to see all the latest features in action bar the performance lol. Note that it would still smoke top end cards of yesteryear though. My comparative review of 5 years ago on TPU of my own cards showed the GT 1030 performing about the same as the top end GTX 285 from several years beforehand. Also, it did it with less noise and had more features.

Alas it's not gonna happen due to the performance levels of current IGPs.

Wish I could agree with you but NVIDIA will charge 550, even 600 on this... there's the $700 price bracket for the 4070 above it.

...and gamers will pay. That's why I decided to upgrade my CPU. I'll sit on the 3090 until it rots, but I won't give NV any money - nor AMD if they don't get their stuff in order.

I wish many would skip this gen so the big corp would learn a lesson. I wanted to upgrade to 13400f but just before christmas intel rised prices of 12 gen and now 13 gen is even more expensive than it should be. I can wait another few months there are still no must have games apart from resident evil 4. If you have to buy used...

Usually the product comes with features close to leaked ones. I hope the card doesn't come with that bandwidth.

I'll sit on the 3090 until it rots, but I won't give NV any money - nor AMD if they don't get their stuff in order.

For real, I forced myself to wait until black friday to upgrade and snagged a 6950XT OC Formula for $750 after rebate and a 5800X3D for $330. After selling my old 6800XT and 5600X the total cost of the upgrade came in just over 500 bucks. After the last two years of hardware price hell it felt like I practically robbed them. They can pry my current config from my cold, thermal paste covered hands.

It would appear anything goes as long as nvidiots can prop up their shares. It's people who buy their products at such prices that enable their nvidiotism to continue.

4070 ti and 4070 are just like 3070 and 3060 ti except that the full die costs a lot more to produce, so i imagine it could drop 50 more to 599-649 for the 4070.

4060 ti another 25% slower and cheaper GDDR6 down to earth with $399-449.
