PNY X Noctua RTX 4070 Ti

• Uncapped: ±63C @ 750 RPM

Pictures from inside the case will have to wait, i don't want to show off the tentacle adapter. The CableMod cable is coming some time in March i think.

It's too bad the fin stack wasn't a bit longer to capture the sweet airflow from the end of the Noctua.
I hate it when engineers put obstructions in front of fin stacks like that giant V shape in the cutout there.

Zipties in clever ways.

The fans are connected to the motherboard and controlled with FanControl (by Rem0o), it allows you to select the GPU as temperature source.

I went with 2 Fans first, but hated the empty spaces in between. I'm fine with the overhang. I prefer full coverage of the heatsink anyways.

I only checked 60 FPS capped, and it got to 52C with the default fans, but they were spinning at 1100 RPM and i could hear them over my case fans.

Wanted to do a manual profile, but those stock fans can't go below 1000 RPM.

How much would it cost for you to Noctua my 6900XT? Pwease? Love the idea of not hearing a fan or 3 spinning like a bastard. 750RPM is practically not moving.

I'd almost be inclined to cut off the chevron and strap another fan to the top instead.

The tip of the V is actually not attached to the rear, there is a piece of foam underneat to prevent it from bending down.

I basically used them in a nut and bolt fashion. You simply cut the head off a good ziptie and use that as the nut. That way you can just route them straight through the fin stack.

Ahh yes. I do that with my RGB cables to keep them from falling apart.

Since my temps were rising (already) i decided to replace the paste with a Kryosheet, and i'm glad i did

For testing i ran 6-8 runs of Superposition, which resulted in a max core temp of 84C with a hotspot of 95C.

Took the card apart, and indeed pumpout was a thing already after less than a year. Cleaned it all up, applied some kapton tape around the core to prevent a short. Put some thermal paste in the corners with a toothpick so the Kryosheet would stick and put it all back together.

On a side note, notice how pitted the coldplate is, i could really feel that with my finger, but it doesn't really seem to affect the final results.

Another 6-8 Superposition runs at 265 watts resulted in a max core temp of 74C with a hotspot of 84C.Knowing i'll never have to take it apart again is a great feeling.

That's a gorgeous card. The thermals you were able to get out of it are really solid, too.

Mind you, the new temp was recorded with the fans running at only 700 RPM ^^

If i bump them to 1000 RPM it drops to about 67C, which is in line with the TPU's review as well.

This guy had already taken the card apart way before that. And as he changed the fans, stock paste had been changed too I'm assuming?

The heatsink wasn't removed until last week, the stock fans could be removed without removing the heatsink, though one screw was a bit of a challenge

The paste itself is good performing, but it pumps out within a year like many other 4000 series cards.

Today i took apart my Intel NUC 8 which i transfered to a Akasa Fanless Case two years ago, and half of the paste was gone from the die, all pumped out. That too was replaced with a Thermal Grizzly Kryosheet.

I will never EVER use thermal paste on a bare die again, no matter how thick it is, it simply does not hold up like it does on a IHS.
