I've always had my Acer laptop as my main PC sort of. Until the GPU died, I was ok with it. But here I am, with 3-4 months till I leave for uni, and I wanted a PC cuz I'll need it to use a monitor with it for coding, editing and blender. Sometime last week, while browsing the most popular site in my country for second hand things, I found this: a pc with an i7-8700k, an Asus Strix OC 1080ti, 16gb of ram at 2400mhz, 1tb of ssd storage and 2 of hhd, a decent case, a be quite tr4, an 800w power supply and an unnamed mother board for 550$. I talked to the guy, he isn't into pc and IT in general, so I didn't ask about the low price. He sent me photos with the pc's insides and even let me enter the pc with tv to check some things. It's all good. He even lowered the price 20$ because of some reason. So, like, do you guys think it's a good deal? I need it for the reasons above, but also for some casual gaming and I think the 1080ti would deal with that just fine. Should I buy it? Also, could anyone help me find the make of the power supply, ram and mb cuz I forgot to look and to ask about them.
Best regards, Artur.

Looking at the provided pictures there is no way getting an idea which MB or PSU is being used. Someone being into such details might be able to tell you the brand of the memory sticks.

I would recommend asking the seller for the information. It's a reasonable request and the seller not providing it - I doubt he will, based on how forthcomming he already was - would be the best information you need to get an idea about buying the PC or not: Trust.

PS: You could also ask for windows event logs. Many people do not delete them and they provide at least some information if a PC had hardware problems.

RAM is Corsair LPX but hard to tell what the board is. LPX at 2400 is probably shit, really old, or a combination of the two

Board is obviously a cheap mATX since it's one of those "narrow" mATX that doesn't extend to the usual third column of standoffs on ATX/mATX. But could be a variety of options from like, 4 different chipsets. Even assuming Z370/Z390, board is probably pretty useless for working with a 8700K OC.

Literally cannot see the PSU, was about to say EVGA NEX650/750G but the rest of the PCIe cable is not red

I've tried to ask him when we first talked a little in detail but he got lost quickly. So I guess that information is maybe out of his understandings. He doesn't have the components boxes anymore so, idk.

would the mb affect normal usage like gaming and so on, even if I will not overclock it? It's going to affect me a lot?

You can probably watch any video explaining PL1/PL2/Tau to get an idea of what youre up against with a bargain basement LGA1151 motherboard. Gaming-wise shouldn't be that big of a deal.

I don't think a ram upgrade matters as I just looked through Z370/Z390 mATX options and this board doesn't look like any of them.

You might be looking at a H310/H370 specimen here. Pretty sure RAM speed is limited to 2666.

what about this: https://altex.ro/sistem-desktop-gam...force-gtx-1650-4gb-ubuntu/cpd/CLCMYRSTYLEV61/

If my calculation was correct the 3000 Lei should be around your budget.
I think I like the 1080ti in this pc better than the 1650. I don't know what to say. But the budget is a little lower at 2500 lei

So, if u were in my place, would you buy this for the reasons I've gave? Do you think at around 550 or 500 I could find something much better? Should I still search some other pc?

It's a good system, swap out the RAM for a 32 GB kit at 3200+ and maybe even the CPU for a 9900K.

Oh yeah I would totally buy this... it's actually quite a decent price for a full machine with a 8700K and a 1080 Ti Strix! Even if you purchased this to gut it and take the parts to build something else would be quite worth it

550$ is a good price, actually it seems too good of a price, I'd say go for it but not without testing it first.

I don't think that's the one. Memory VRM section (just about all that is visible from the photos) is visibly different.

Just went through all of Asus/Gigabyte/ASRock/MSI's lower end H310/H370 boards and I can't find anything that matches the photos??? This would be solved instantly by the seller installing CPU-Z and reading out what it says under Mainboard

Even if it is a H370-A, not a VRM I'd OC a 8700K on or even consider running a stock 9900K on.

I am 99% sure that prior to 12th gen (?? or 10/11th gen?), Intel did not unlock memory speed for its lower end chipsets.

It's a good system, swap out the RAM for a 32 GB kit at 3200+ and maybe even the CPU for a 9900K.

Faster RAM kit is going nowhere if the memory limits are what I remember, and 9900K is going nowhere fast on any of these budget boards

This one looks close but not quite, from the layout it's probably also Asus and probably one of these B365s

I think I'll take my chance on this. I'll see it in person, test it and if everything is good, I'll buy it. I'll also post the brand of the mb here:)

for 550 looks like a good buy to me. as long as you test it first as vya said. I wouldn't swap out any of the parts. just do a re-paste on the CPU and 1080 ti (but only if you know how to do that safely)

Take this info with a grain of salt. My old Tt ToughPower 775W had red connectors. It was a very rock solid unit. My cousin has my old setup and is still using it. It's about 5yrs old now.

That looks like an ASUS B365 motherboard to me, that'd be my guess based on the capacitor placement

Look at sata placement.

That's not the same socket

It's not the B365M-A, not micro ATX

The B365-Plus is closer than anything else but also not quite it

Maybe a region specific variant not listed globally

this one shows the color pattern on the mb so I think it's quite useful

it's not any of the above

It's still basically the same VRM, so while you can OC with Z370 it's probably not advised

But you can certainly get a faster kit of DDR4. iirc 8700K tops out at what, around 4000 with the right kit, if you're lucky?

Point of diminishing returns past 3733 anyways on that chipset iirc
