Hey guys, im building a new PC and i have all the parts expect for the GPU. Today i just finally managed to order an Asrock 7900 XTX Phantom Gaming OC.
So my problem is that i have already bought a 850W PSU which ive heard is enough for the 7900 XTX but on Asrock's website they recommend a 1000W PSU.
However here on TechPowerUp's website they recommend a 750W, now im a bit confused.

Will i be fine or should i cancel my order?

If its a high quality PSU you should be fine it will also depend on what other hardware you plan on running. Listing your full specifications will help others advise you better.

I'm not familiar with the 850e variant of corsairs psu line seems like a cost optimized variant of the X line either way it should still be fine if you stick with stock settings

Nice system Btw.

In any case I would get a better PSU/higher wattage over returning the card for a lower wattage reference model or base model but that's just me. If you can return the 850e and get a 1000e/1000X I would do it but you're likely golden either way.

Asus Crosshair VIII Impact
5800X3D
2x16GB G.Skill 3600C14
2x2tb hp ex950
NZXT Z63 Kraken
All USB ports connected to something.

Eerily similar systems we have......right down to the USB ports being filled up

I ditched the SF750 for a HX1000 after constant crashing on the XT. It was at the same time as getting a new certified cable for my secondary monitor, so I can't say for certainty which was the culprit, but both make a compelling case although not watertight explanations.

I do agree that 850W is plenty though, even if RMe is a ways away from RMx in terms of quality.

You're really in the middle with that 850W (TPU:750W, AsRock:1000W) and if you really will not overclock, you should be fine.

Awesome meeting a fellow Impact'er! I believe it's not many of us out there.

I can't say I have any stability issues, so I'll be hanging on to this specc for a while. Just waiting for my HDMI 2.1 cable and angle adapter

Not meaning to hijack the thread!

I guess in summary what I'm saying/typing:

Unless you have a lot of 5V/12V units connected and/or the PSU is really old or shady quality, you should be fine as long as you're around the minimum recommendation.

I believe a 1000W PSU statement is just for mega headroom, so that if you run the card with a no-name PSU it can supply the power.
