More like don't buy used cos you never know who its from.
Actually, I did get my Leadtek GTX 1080 Hurricane OC from a miner, watched as he took it out from one of his many mining rigs. This was at least 3 years back, I was given a soft copy or pic of the invoice and that card has been running like a champ in my HTPC rig. Ofc, mine was bought from a local seller through a local site similar to eBay, was able to check that card was still under warranty, and that the seals on the card had not been tampered with.

There are indeed a lot of crappy miners who didn't take care of their cards. Many who have as well. It's a gamble but most people here who bitch about it never purchased goods on eBay before so they assume you can get easily screwed as a buyer. On contrary, sellers get screwed more and buyers have plenty of protection if the card is a dud. I know cause I buy from ebay and had to make claims (and won them all even on a 3090).

Oh man, I'm looking forward to getting back, and building my 2nd rig! I have all the parts, just itching to build it, now the only stumbling block is whether I can get the Thermalright PA120 SE to fit into the case I have in mind, my SOLDAM XR-1 Black Knight. IF it can't fit, I'll have to go thru the hassle of gutting my HTPC and reusing the Thermaltake View 31 case. I will, ofc, post pics of the upgraded main rig (not here but in the RX 7000 thread) and the Sapphire Nitro+ RX 6900 XT build here.

Well had the 6950XT for a few weeks now had some hiccups here and there(beta testing can do that) But I am on the WHQL for the time being just to rule out my testing drivers. This baby runs real toasty compared to my previous 6700XT, of course it does. So I don't care about noise Thermal>Noise for me I mean I run 2K Noctuas Noise is not a concern if I'm gaming.
But I was not liking my temps even with a more aggressive fan curve(I mean my temps are still well within limits I just don't like seeing 90s on the hotspot)
So today I decided I would play with an undervolt. Now thermals can't say yet any perceptible difference and I still haven't had it long enough and done enough consistent testing to have my thermals "memorized" like I had with my 6700XT.
So I of course first ran the AMD Tuning "Auto" undervolt(that's a total joke it spit out 1197 same as did with my 6700XT)so -.3mV or is .03 anyway you get the point. So yeah we'll just try this ourselves then. I through a big one at it right away and of course it failed, not surprising(1150) So okay lets be reasonable so I tried 1175. So that runs fine and this is where it got good.
The first score I would has been about my average(I run TS on every driver for reference but obviously nobody sees my beta numbers) next to my last run with the 1175 undervolt vs 1200 stock.
I am rather impressed despite not actually solving my initial issue of improving my thermals I DID definitely make some decent gains(I ran a few tests that basically were going up 100 points each time)
I may see if I can get it even lower but I know at least 1150 is unreasonable anyway, but maybe 1165 could stick. The research shall continue....

Edit: down to 1770 and I am on a roll here...

Hmm, so I ran AIDA64 GPGPU, and it thinks I have three of my GPU?

What's even weirder is that the numbers appear to line up.

I can only assume that it ran three instances of the test and added up the results for some reason.

Maybe the NimeZ drivers are messing with it in some weird way. I'm running the 22.11.2 driver with 22.6.1 OpenGL.

Wonder what my GPU gets up to when I'm away...

Same thing happens with with my 7900XT, no idea why.

Okay I was gonna take a swipe at this with an initial theory but not having run this test in ages and having just upgraded I needed to run it myself. Well my results blew my theory out of the picture because of my picture. Now I don't know why at all.
I thought, like if you went into sound you have multiple AMD audio devices there that this was a similar case but now I got nothing?

I would never settle for such high hotspot especially if it has lots of room to ramp up fan especially when its still running silent while also running cooler.

It isn't exactly silent. It's a reference card.

How's your case airflow? Didcha adjust your fan curve setting? I usually adjust my fan curve to something more aggressive, and I'd disable 'Zero Fan'. Since my case sits on the floor, a little more fan noise isn't gonna bother me. Besides, with my soundbar blasting away in front of me, I don't hear much else. For me, my Sapphire Nitro+ RX 6900 XT hangs around mid to high 80's, hasn't crossed 90 yet, but if it does, I know it's time for some dusting.

well he use a reference card, they tend to be a tad hotter, although exceptions can happen, than custom models

i never saw more than 83°C on my RX 6700 XT but it's not a ref and it has one of the best custom cooler around for that gen (including 6800 XT and 6900 XT )
well ... max Junction temp for a RX 6700 XT is 110°C

also lol Skyrim @1620p : 96W, GPU temp 55° Junc temp 56° but wait for it ... vRAM usage : 10071mb (yep 10gb  ) now i know why the 8gb of my GTX 1070 felt ... hum, anemic?

– Hotspot vs. Average Measured Temperature

To understand the true maximum, you first need to understand the difference between the hotspot and the average measured temperature.

Your GPU basically has numerous temperature sensors. And what you see as the GPU hotspot temp is the highest measured temperature of these sensors.

Previously, there used to be only one temperature sensor right in the middle of the chip. Engineers would calculate the temperature when the silicone chip started to heat up.

Here, it’s important to know that the temperature on the chip should never cross 125C, or it will start to degrade.

Keeping this in mind, GPU engineers calculated that when there are 125C hotspots on the silicone chip, the temperature sensor would be at 95.

So the GPU’s maximum safe temperature was set at 95C, and as long as you stayed within 95C, you can be sure that your GPU won’t overheat.

Today, GPUs have a sensor grid that allows manufacturers to get both the hotspot and the average measured temperature.

The temperature is still measured from the chip’s surface, so there are hotspots in the chip that are hotter than the hotspot temp.

And the process is also the same – GPU designers determine the max safe temp (typically 120C) and see the value they get on the hotspot and average temperature sensors.

Typically, depending on the GPU, the average temperature sensor is somewhere between 92 and 97C, while the safe temperature for the hotspot sensor is somewhere in the 110C range.

The latter is closer to the real value that you should worry about, but it’s only half the picture.

The bottom line, as long as your GPU’s temperature is less than 95C and the hotspot temp is less than 110C, everything should be fine.

60fps :p Skyrim engine do not like uncaping and fps above 60, i run no engine physics fix and i wouldn't see more than 60 anyway with all the overhaul and the ENB i am using (not that it would benefit from higher, imho )
(and 30ish fps when 3 follower by Wammy are around ... these fps murderer have full HDT skined hair physics  )

you run with a RX 6800 XT and a 5800X at 1920x1080 run a RX 6700 XT and a 3600 at 2880x1620, i bet you could run it 4k no issues ;) (for me "3k" is enough :D )

I undervolted my 6800 xt to 1120mv, set core clock target to 2620

Got the highest 3dmark time spy score in graphics section that I have ever got with a 6800 xt. pretty cool.

I didn't know undervolting was a thing... I think I will leave it like this 24/7 for gaming.

any other tips regarding this welcome, as undervolting is new to me for gpu's. :toast:

If seen some undervolt to 1000mv which is crazy mine wont go past 1120mv either, i think gpu clocks just stretch or something making undervolt pointless past certain point.

In which thread can I ask undervolting help? Can this one be used for that? I have HS temperature problems.

Guess I can enter the club too, got an XFX SFWT 6700 10GB a week or so ago for $330 before tax :p

Coming from an RX 480, so quite a jump.

Obligatory pics.

Benchmark Scores Some points. More than your setup!
I'm the proud owner of a Sapphire RX6900XT Toxic Air Cooled. I'd post some benchmarks but I've got a question. Can I have Rum instead of beer?

Every benchmark I've ran has been 98% - 99% percentile. Found this as well today...

2nd in my country for my config makes me happy.

Just messing around a bit I thought i was good at 1175 Was benching fine even SuperpositIon which is the one they always “cracks” my attempts at OCs or in this case UVs. But was having games lock up so I’ve had to settle on 1180. Rest I run bone stock clock wise but no Zero Fan and a more aggressive curve than stock. My 6700XT was basically 1:1 which I loved noise be damned for me it’s Thermals>Noise
Edit: best run at 1170 but not stable
Hmm last run I have but not sure on the voltage

Talking about bad undervolters, mines also doesn't want to go below ~1175mV, even at stock.

Somehow it takes 2700MHz (from 2400 stock, max slider is 2800 but efficiency dies after 2700) at 1200mV tho, so I've got no clue. Guess some cards just don't undervolt well, but can overclock well?
