Technically 1080ti would be best. People gonna be all "but muh RTX" and unless you really need it, it ain't gonna help.

Into what system will you be putting this? Are you upgrading an existing system? If so, what card you got now on what CPU and RAM? We can't make a fully informed recommendation without knowing what platform it is going into. There is no point putting an expensive card into an old system thinking you would upgrade that system later... you are paying today's prices for GPU power that you will not get the most out of, and by the investment and time until you upgrade the system, the GPU could be money unwisely spent.

OpenGL? 2070S all the way.

AMD greatly improved their OpenGL performance so really it's no longer an advantage Nvidia has.

The 6650 XT is the fastest card here but only by 5%. It'll also be the most power efficient.

The 1080 Ti is going to come close as well and it has 11GB of VRAM. The downside is the power consumption being a flagship card.

The 2070 Super is going to also come close to the 6650 XT and has lower power consumption than the 1080 Ti but less VRAM.

If the 6650 XT is the most expensive I'd probably lean towards the 1080 Ti / 2070 Super. Depends on if your PSU can handle it though.

Is there even raytracing over OpenGL?

Nope, that went into Vulkan.

I would do 2070S myself.

1080Ti is cool and all, but its not much newer than my 980 Classified.. its old.

8GB is a bit sucky sometimes, but its not terrible if you are willing to make certain concessions..

I've not benched a 2070S, but my RX6650 XT is pretty fast in comparison to a RTX 2060.

But I can't imagine a 2070S being faster than a 6650 XT while the XT was designed to rival the RTX 3060/ti series cards.

If you can pick up a used Not beaten up 6650 XT, that's what I'd choose with a very close wanting for the 2070S. I paid closer to 350bucks for my 6650XT, so if you can get it for 100 less used, good on ya!

Why are people recommending the 1080ti is beyond me, 1000 series is 7 years old people.

6650XT is fastest and newest, there is no contest.

RTX has DLSS support. That is best. 25-50% frame increase if the game supports it.

I vote for 2070S because its basically a RTX 2080 (same die).

Make sure you don't buy a cryto mining card. Just throwing money away when it dies randomly in a year.

The 2070 super and 1080 Ti are basically both within the margin of error performance wise between the 2 so I'd rather have the newer card that uses less power (2070 Super)

And will have better support for practically everything else plus a few extra years of driver updates.

Pascal is next on the chopping block after Maxwell's driver support is axed this year (the 8 years of NVIDIA's lifecycle policy are up - and it's likely that the next driver branch will no longer support this hardware).

Although that's true, I don't have firsthand knowledge of how Radeons perform in OpenGL applications.
While I know it was worked on in recent drivers, I don't have good memories of my former RX 460 with this API. Hence I recommend the 2070S.

What games even use OpenGL these days ? That API is basically a dead end, it's been effectively replaced by Vulkan.
