This is how much my 6700 (overclocked, that being) scored in Time Spy. Looks pretty close to a 3060ti from looking at some benchmarks, but dunno.

Efficiency-wise it's a pretty interesting card though. In actual games it uses 125~150W of power at stock voltages. Like geez, that's efficient compared to what Ampere has to offer.

Forgot to mention my card is undervolted to 1075Mv, fans off silent mode and has a more aggressive fan profile.

Guess I can enter the club too, got an XFX SFWT 6700 10GB a week or so ago for $330 before tax :p

Coming from an RX 480, so quite a jump.

Obligatory pics.
nice, but my reply is ... do i spot a Kaga (Oath skin) as your avatar?

How's your case airflow? Didcha adjust your fan curve setting? I usually adjust my fan curve to something more aggressive, and I'd disable 'Zero Fan'. Since my case sits on the floor, a little more fan noise isn't gonna bother me. Besides, with my soundbar blasting away in front of me, I don't hear much else. For me, my Sapphire Nitro+ RX 6900 XT hangs around mid to high 80's, hasn't crossed 90 yet, but if it does, I know it's time for some dusting.
Airflow doesn't help. If I open the side of the case, I get the same temperatures with (very) slightly lower fan speeds. I can increase the fan speed to an ear crushing 100%, but that only saves me about 5 °C. Everything tells me that the reference card is designed to run like this.

So, let me explain my case. I undervolted my card low to 1050 mV GFX Vmax, with MPT, so Adrenalin cannot overdrive it, since MPT changes it normally, not just offset.
My card at this voltage, still runs at 101 C HS under timespy normal. :(
I know, I know, these cards start throttling at 110 C, still, I think this is hot.. with 15% TDP set, which is around 360W maximum, this 1050 mV eats a maximum of 350W, so no TDP limit.
Clocks are set to 2410-2510 MHz, but never reach the 2500, usually runs on 2450. Memory clock is 2060 MHz currently. Default fan curve, but I still reach 100C with 85% fan PWM.

At full stock, my card ran at 2447 MHz with the stock 1200mV, with 0% TDP (303W), still went to 100C, with underwhelming performance of course...
What do you think, did I get a defective model? Unfortunately I have 3 years warranty, so I cannot disassemble the card to check the cooling...
(Specs are on my profile)

I can’t believe it but I don’t have a TimeSpy score for my old 6700XT to compare with…I swore I had one
Being on betas all the time means I can’t keep/show my scores
Edit just had to dig a littler I don’t know high I was OC’d but this is my highest score i could find

Pushing VRAM to 2100MHz pushed me pretty close to 12k graphics score on the 6700 10GB. I guess the core is memory bw limited (since the 6700XT does 384GB/s stock, at 2100 I can do 336GB/s. Can push it up to 2150, but performance platoes at that point so no point)

Could probably do 12k if I do 2750 core, but I doubt I can do much more with this card. Kind of a nice overclocker, though. About 2k points off a 6700XT.

There's very little stuff about the 6700 online too. I wish it had more attention considering it's $320 now. Pretty much close to 6650XT pricing (tho I've seen the 6650XT push it's way through benchmarks by doing stupid numbers like 2900/2350 lol).

Also, superposition:
1675570219384.png

5995 feels like it's teasing me. Also, superposition seems to be awfully low on the 6700. The 6650XT scores ~5800, which is how much my 6700 scores stock (bit less, actually, 5760). I wonder if drivers are to blame here (I mean, the 300 extra cores and extra VRAM bandwidth have to do something, when I match the 6650XT clocks, right? lmao)

100C hotspot would be considered normal, if your edge temp is 75~80C I wouldn't sweat it too much.

I didn't think it was possible, but I made a 5 mm gap at the top of my side panel and case, the bottom is still fully sealed... anyways long story short, ran the exact same tests and it lowered my core and hotspot temp by 5-7 celsius. I have a smallish case in the Corsair 110q for this particular build. The 6800 XT spits out heat with almost no breathing room, so that heat bounces back into the heatsink. This little gap seemed to help a lot, and I still get to maintain the vast majority of the sound proof side panels effectiveness at limiting sound (this case has 4 sound proof side panels).

I am considering taking it to some kind of workshop, and see how much it would cost to just cut out a little area, long rectangle where the heat is blowing out of the gpu, so it will just go directly out the case. that might be a bad idea though, the 6800 xt would then probably try to suck air in from that same slot. i guess this little 5mm trick is best it gets. edit: maybe i could add some sort of metal thing connecting where the air is blowing out of the 6800 xt with the cutout on the side panel... hmm not a bad idea, seems like a lot of work though, i'd have to pay a professional since I don't have that gear. prob not worth it.

I really regret getting rid of my Corsair Carbide 500r case, that thing had a 200mm side fan and it kept my gpu very cold. I even had dust filters for it. I am stupid though, so eh. Live and learn, sadly they don't sell that case anymore. I really wish everything didn't go to glass panels. I find it distracting. I want to look at my screen and that's it.

Yeah something is wrong about superposition on the 6700 side. I guess it's just drivers being wack.

How much do you get on 4k optimized?

Seems to happen on some games too. It doesn't make much sense to me if you look at specs alone, but I guess it's possible to brute force your way through it by having a higher frequency ceiling?

@amd64skater Have you tried tweaking it with MorePowerTool? For ex. increasing PPT?
@3x0 No I haven't.

anyone know if 1usmus is going to release the hydro one click Auto OC for 6800 XT owners any time soon? I wouldn't mind paying a few bucks for it, but I don't want to pay 10 bucks for it.

Yeah, not too different. I'm left wondering why in some places the 6700 performs more like a 6600XT and in some others it performs significantly better than a 6600XT. Go figure lmao, in paper it should be always better if you can come close to matching frequency.

What is your OC at? Mines is 2700/2100.

I'm at 2833/2933 for core and 2200 for VRAM. Power is slightly increased from 175w to 186w, although it doesn't benefit too much in Superposition.

Fair bit more core I guess. One theory is that some games (inc. superposition) favor faster cores more on RDNA2 instead of the 290 some more cores the 6700 has. I cannot rly push more than 2700 here without throwing efficiency out of the window for like 50MHz more of effective clock.

I used MPT since the default PPT for this card is 138W (??????). Just set it to 160W instead to allow it to actually boost properly in games, usually uses ~155W in games like RDR2.

its insane to me how high a 6600 xt can clock... i believe 6950 xt can also clock to 2900 on air if i am not mistaken. i wonder why 6800 xt seems to be limited to the 2500-2600 range.

afaik the 6X50XT lineup is using an improved node, which allows it to clock higher. The 6800XT/6900XT (and non-XT 6800) is limited bc there's a LOT of cores within the thermal headroom, I'd imagine.

I envy y'all prices lmao. I bought the 6700 for $330 alright, but I paid $94 in tax. Geez.

To be fair since I imported it I still got a better deal than most other people here, 6650XT here is ~$470 still.

Wow that is crazy. Yeah I was debating on a few cards then this deal came up bought it and picked it up after work. As an employee at Amazon if it's in stock at my site I can order it and goto the amazon airport locker and pick it up the same day.
