Audio specialist MOONDROP has stepped into the custom keyboard space with two unique mechanical switches. We put both to the test today in a custom keyboard build, pairing them with the Akko MOD 004 CNC-machined aluminium kit in a 96% layout as well as Epomaker's "Sailing" keycap set for a refreshing blue color scheme.

Building your own keyboard can be very expensive. The choice of switches alone makes my toes curl. Love these reviews VSG.
I built my own keyboard on a budget. Picked up a Womier RGB K87 for $60 at Amazon. The keyboard came with hot swapable pre-lubed Gateron Reds and pudding PBT keycaps. I swapped out the switches for Tecsee Purple Panda's for $45 (90 switches) and have been extremely happy since.

Do you have any plans to review some of the newer Tecsee switches anytime soon?

It was an interesting idea admittedly but I suppose the guy has to first get back on top of his audio content itself.

Agree. I've been eyeballing these switches on drop/massdrop for a while but I don't know if I need yet another keyboard. But I want one.

Another great review @VSG ! I almost pulled the trigger on the Akko, but ended up with the k6 pro due to the QMK/VIA software. Plus, the K6 pro was on sale. lol

You and me both! I have bought 3 new keyboards in the past couple months.. lol I have a set of keycaps that I haven't even opened yet, but I was on drop last night looking at some. lol I just built a fullsize GMMK with kailh box-white switches and love those switches. I did lube the springs. Then I bought a Keychron k6 pro 65% with keychron blue switches and surprisingly I like the feel of these switches. I ordered another box of Kailh box-whites to put in this k6 but for now I'm enjoying these blues.
