It's going to be interesting to see where ram will be at in game benchmarks a year from now. I am surprised by the slow and steady improvements in real world frames gained. Still, as long as you don't cheap out on bottom of the barrel 4800 cas 40, you are doing pretty dang good still.

Amazing how well the DDR4 Trident Z neo 3600 sticks hold up. The DDR5 only shines in artificial benchmarks for the most part, not in real world applications.
Command Rate 1 + 1:1 Gear helps a bit :). Rework of the bench suite in the works. We will see if DDR4 still hold the crown soon.

give me 4x 16gb sticks of ddr5 5200 or 5600 cas 36 or cas 30 if possible. I WANT TO SEE THE TRUE POWER UNLEASHED!!!!

(specifically gaming benchmarks is what I want to see and yes I already know what you will say, this is just a reminder)

@Space Lynx that's doable. Its the 4x dual-rank that is a bigger pain. Probably 6400 30-38-38-90 will work. Maybe another day. 4x 16 gives very similar results to 2x 32 GB.

Would be nice to see for AMD user what is the lowest timing acheivable at 6000MHz 1.5V too and maybe 6400MHz for the lucky one. But 6000MHz lowest timing should be added.

Why you send me that link ? I think you have not understand what I wanted to say. I say it would be nice if in every kit you test in your OC section you added on top of others frequency/Timing Combo you have already acheive, to make one that is at 6000MHz lowest timing possible for AMD user. It not because they are not EXPO or 7200MHz XMP that we cannot tune them for AMD 6000MHz (6400MHz for the lucky one that their CPU can handle it.)

@sector-z you shouldn't buy this memory for AMD. This is why I linked you a DDR5-6000 kit to the OC page with lower timings.

For Intel users that are into tweaking, also don't buy this memory kit if you aren't planning on running DDR-6800 or above. Much cheaper options exist and Hynix M die can go lower on all the primary and sub timings, just not as high in frequency.

All of what I wrote above is explained in the review as well. This is just the shortened version.

I'm honestly surprised it worked without needing major tweaking and voltages, but that's sorta explained by "only works on really high end 13th gen intel"

All the Z790 I've tied (so far) all the way down to this $250 range can at least boot DDR5-7800. Seems stability is a questionable able thing above DDR5-7600. This ASRock Z790 PG Sonic for example, boots DDR5-8000 but isn't stable or will it ever be until ASRock gives back VDD2 control. Its tied to the DRAM voltage for some stupid reason and not a option that can be changed. I know my CPU gets very mad at VDD2 1.5 V. DDR5-7200 is completely fine though (auto XMP) since it puts the voltages to 1.4.

I re-tested a number of Z690 4-DIMM motherboards, Its hit or miss. Some can do DDR5-6800-7200. A lot just can't pass 6600 for some reason even after manually adjusting the voltages and subtimings.

They both will be using Hynix A-die and have similar XMP timings. My answer is follow the QVL list. If both are on it. Get whatever brand is cheaper or you like better.

Usually shops have 30 return. Might have been quicker to do that instead.

Ouch, what settings did they run at?

Are you sure they died, and that the system hadnt gone unstable due to changed settings, like from a BIOS reset?

You know what they say, electronics die in the first 30 days or last year's. So I'm not surprised by the early death.

I've not had a stick of ram die since my first DDR4 module, which i think was faulty out of the box (extremely heat sensitive)

Sad to hear it died, definitely be careful about new ram on the same hardware - could be one of those BIOS issues like with the 3D chips where voltages went above what the user/BIOS sets.

Unlikely to be anything but the memor at fault. The MB for DDR5 only supplies 5v and the PMIC / bucks in the ram itself does the the rest to step it down. You could probe that 5v rail and see what it is really outputting, though that is outside the scope of many users.

I've had DDR1, DDR2, DDR3, DDR4, and DDR5 die on me. Also seen a ton of none working DDR3/DDR4 while at a recycling / refurb center.
