Should be fine, as long as you don't care about the AI QoS system. But all you need to do is never use it and stick with traditional QoS if you want to be sure.

Unfortunately no, it only accepts a network input over the WAN port.

I think it's high time all these $200+ wifi routers use all 2.5gbe at bare minimum, preferably at least 2 10gbe.

You're aware that 10 Gbps Ethernet controllers are still around $20 a pop, right? Sure, they've come down a lot in price, but a five port 10 Gbps switch without the PHY's are around $100.
The product you want is available, but for a price most of us wouldn't pay, although I havent' seen any consumer routers with more than two 10 Gbps ports, i.e. no switch involved.
2.5 Gbps will slowly take over, especially once WiFi 7 arrives, as the hardware cost difference in neglible already, compared to Gigabit hardware.
10 Gbps is not there yet, unfortunately.

That's kinda nonsensical when this is a $350 router with 4x1gb LAN. $150 router? Yeah sure, but at $300+ there's no excuse for not having at least one, preferably two.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the cost price is closer to $100, which would make adding $20 10GBe ports very expensive indeed.

The router is huge and yet only 4 lousy LAN ports. My old Asus AC88U has 8 lan ports. Alos as said in the article, there should be more 2.5GBE ports. At least 2 LAN, as well as the WAN. My Asus AC68U at 5m and through a plasterboard wall, gets me ~700-750Mb/s, so not impressed at all by this.

Those Intel 2.5G are shit worse than Realtek 2.5G. Somehow many of "high-end" consumer Routers are overpriced scams(firmwares and hardware) most of times.

If you have kept your router on desk then you can get cooling pads(similar to laptop coolers) for routers. I have wall mounted mine and had to install a 5V fan with zip ties to direct some air towards my router.

If only they had added a second 2.5Gb ethernet port, then it would actually make sense as a product. I simply don't understand the logic behind these single 2.5Gb port designs. You simply cannot provide the WiFi radios with enough data to saturate the advertised transfer rates when your still pegged by 1Gb ethernet speeds.

It has been done and trust me, you do NOT want a router with active cooling.
I was involved in the making of the first consumer router with heatpipe cooling and we tested a lot of fans. The ones that could fit in the housing, were all noise makers.
Don't expect the router manufacturers to put a Noctua 120 mm in the bottom, it's just not going to happen.
Also, there are several routers on the market already with a fan and they all get complaints from the users after a few months, because they get noisy.

That's mostly Windows driver issue. No problems with FreeBSD here. And I do have disconnecting issues with I211 after updating to Windows 11. Every day.

yep, just was an easy link that had a price listed. Point, the $350+ prices should have 2.5G all the way through.

It was in I225-V and I225-V2. I225-V3 and I226-V are fine.

You can, but it's not the easiest to implement. Access points might support it but I am not sure if consumer clients do.
