Can't undervolt my i7-6700HQ anymore

I'm trying to undervolt my i7-6700HQ laptop. On Windows 10 I used to do it just fine and it would noticeably change my laptop's acoustic profile, but I did that hacky method of installing Windows 11 on my 6th gen laptop and now I can neither install Intel XTU (it errors out saying "Attempting to install on an unsupported platform") nor undervolt my CPU via ThrottleStop. Also tried disabling Windows 11 VBS and memory integrity. Is my only option to return to Windows 10 if I want to undervolt this laptop?

Turn off core isolation on windows defender and restart, that should do it.

Post a picture of the FIVR window so I can see what the problem is.

It is possible that the BIOS was updated when installing Windows 11 so going back to Windows 10 might not fix things.

Well I can change the voltage offset but I don't think they apply. Previously I could move the offset all the way up to -150mV in Intel XTU and it would still work for daily use even with multiple Chrome tabs and apps open or in Cinebench, with much quieter fans (it would only crash in Premiere Pro video exports).

You have to undervolt the core and the cache equally. If you only undervolt the core, it will not do anything.

Same goes for the Intel GPU. You have to undervolt the Intel GPU and the iGPU Unslice equally or else it will not work. If you have a Nvidia GPU, I would not bother undervolting the Intel GPU or the iGPU Unslice.

I would exit ThrottleStop, delete the ThrottleStop.INI configuration file and start from scratch. Sometimes the Windows 11 - VBS features can corrupt this file.

While you are adjusting, I would recommend setting IccMax to the maximum, 255.75, for both the core and the cache. In the TPL window, check the MMIO Lock box near the top right of that screen. Post a TPL screenshot if you need help.

‍Thank you! I set IccMax to 255.75 for the core and cache and checked the MMIO lock box as well. Just curious, what does the MMIO box do?
I do have a GTX 960M, if you would point me to a source that will help me also undervolt the GPU if possible, it would be highly appreciated. Thanks again.

The MMIO Lock box disables the secondary set of power limits. These limits are not necessary.

I do not know how to undervolt your Nvidia GPU. I am just the Intel CPU guru!

Is your CPU undervolt working now? It should be.

Yes, it is. Though seems like I need to fine-tune the offset a little bit more, as Wİndows freezes on not the Geekbench CPU test, but the GPU test for whatever reason, despite the fact that I didn't undervolt the iGPU. Maybe it has something to do with Geekbench though. Thanks!

Yeah having done a little more research, it seems like that's the tool for it, however I have a similar kind of problem for MSI Afterburner where the voltage slider is grayed out and I can't access the voltage curve editor. I'll probably be opening a separate thread for that, though.

You can hit Control F, and undervolt it that way but you'll have to do it each time you turn on the laptop.

This should come up. It comes up with my older laptop msi ge75 and newer msi ge77.
