Where do you check this without physically inspecting the die? I checked HWiNFO, ZenTimings, and CPU-Z all, to no avail.

Kit is G.Skill (Ripjaws) 2x 32GB, Dual Rank, Hynix. XMP is 3600 C18 @1.35V.

BTW, does anyone see issues running 1800 IF and XMP on 1.0875 VSOC (5800X3D)? I don't have time to dig into memtest and such before setting up a pair of these systems on the software side and putting them to use.

I'm much more curious to see a comparison to non-3D cache Zen 4 CPUs.
What would you like to see? I can disable a ccd on a 7900x3d if you wish. Won't be a true comparison tho ( 6c/12t vs 8c/16t)

It was mystery meat because it was Corsair and their rev codes are unreliable.

There is no mystery meat on G.skill, the 042 code always tells you what's inside. Check last 5 digits of the string that begins with 042 on the sticker.

5800X3D variances are wild. I'm at 1.03V for 1866 but 1900 is physically impossible.

What kind of "issues"? Need to be more specific than that, memory is memory and Fabric is Fabric.

1 CCD-disabled 7950X3D reviews are already out, and the 7800X3D isn't far away, either. I'm not looking at buying one, more just generally curious. :)

Thanks for the offer, though. :)

Not a problem. I mainly bought mine for longevity. I plan on staying on it for like 4-6yrs

Same here with the 7700X. :) I'm not planning on buying a high-end graphics card, so the extra cache wouldn't do much in my case, I believe.

It's good that we're only on the first generation of AM5. By the time it's time for an upgrade, the platform might still be around.

If AMD does what they did with AM4 on AM5 then I foresee a CPU upgrade at near EOL for me.

Well this took a buttload of figuring out. Now have 3 pstates working and my old TR now downclocks at idle! Can only get vcore to drop to vid though... I'll have to try and figure that one out...
But yes, speedstep type of downclocking works on ryzen... right now I only have 4.0, 3.5 and 2.2 set... all works though.

It varies between systems, the key here is how many ranks the memory has - single rank sticks are easier to run
I've seen boards default from 0.95v to 1.05v, you can just assume 1.10v is a happy starting point and never think about it - you're adding like 2W

Stability.

Mem stability = run TM5
Fabric stability = use your PC and see

If you haven't noticed anything awry then leave VSOC well enough alone. If you notice Bus/Interconnect showing up in your Event Viewer, audio and/or USB issues, or crashing, then keep an eye on your Fabric. Generally the subtler signs will start showing up before crashes due to IF.

USB issues, black screen crashes at idle/load loads, GPU 'disconnects' where the PC is running but a black screen are common IF errors

OK, this is weird. This is the second time that this has happened where I've had to reset CMOS to get my computer to boot. It seems that it gets stuck on DRAM training according to the debug red lights on my motherboard. One person suggests to bump up the DRAM voltage from 1.35v (the default for the EXPO profile) to 1.36v but I have absolutely no damn clue how to do that in my Gigabyte UEFI.

I'm not seeing that screen in my UEFI.

Buried somewhere under Advanced Memory Settings?

First step should be running some TM5 testing anyway to see if it actually is stable

Yeah, I have no idea what to do in there.

I've since turned off the EXPO profile and I'll see what happens from here on out. I don't seem to lose too much performance so maybe I'll just keep it at that setting.

It was fine before the new BIOS version, that version worked just fine.

Major changes to AGESA are afoot with the POST time changes and X3D release, best to retest. Never take it for granted. Download Zentimings so you can track changes easier. Seems to work fine with AM5 now.

The DDR5 Voltages menu is also found on LGA1700 Gigabyte, so perhaps it's just a carryover or new AGESA deleted it?

What happened to that Memory Context Restore feature that made Gigabyte POST faster? Maybe the new BIOS enables it by default and that's what causes the memory training failures.

Zen 4 is not memory insensitive, best to get to the bottom of this if you want to get what you paid for

Settings -> AMD CBS -> UMC Common options -> DDR Options -> DDR Memory Features -> Memory context restore -> DISABLED

I did that.

OK, so I have a longer boot time. Big deal! I can deal with that, I can't deal with stability issues.

Or update the BIOS. The exact same thing used to happen with me on the factory BIOS, but ever since version 1.15, it's fine.

I'm trying to figure out why I'm "only" able to get boost up to 5.1Ghz .... Hmmm....
Is that an all-core or single-core clock?

SIngle core boost via PBO on a 7900X3D. Specs even state up to 5.6Ghz
Maybe it's the frequency of the 3D cache CCD? I'm guessing that you need to set up the scheduler to prefer higher frequencies and send priority tasks to the "normal" CCD.

Or maybe monitoring software cannot detect it properly. Like I said, just guessing. :ohwell:

Already on the latest BIOS version.

First step should be running some TM5 testing anyway to see if it actually is stable
I ran Windows Memory Diagnostics test in Standard Mode, came back clean; no memory faults found.

The freq ceiling for the Vcache CCD should be around 5.1-5.2 across all the Raphael Vcache products. Any higher needs to come from the other CCD.

Make sure you have both the new BIOS/agesa and the new chipset drivers for the 2CCD optimizations

............run TM5 1usmus or anta777 that puts some actual load on the hardware.

Still problems after disabling Memory Context Restore? Seems like the most likely culprit.
