Also the alien ware bc it can output to hdmi 2.1. Planning to get the LG c2 TV for when I'm not on the go.
Is this the best for the price?
Thinking amd might be better for less heat? Also the Alienware one is 2099 everywhere else

Anyone alive around here?!

Stating the obvious... if you don't absolutely need portability get a desktop. Gaming and laptops just equals heat and atrocious battery performance along with a bloated price tag. Better off getting a lower end laptop for travel and have a desktop at home imo.

That alienware is wildly overpriced, paying for the brand.
The MSI seems to have heat issues.
The 2 ASUS ones seem to be the best options. Depending on what you plan on playing will determine if the price increase is worth it for .4" of screen and a beefier graphics card.

Sidenote, I hate how hard it is to find a good laptop with 32GB of RAM.

100% this. So-called "gaming" laptops either have stupidly underpowered cooling systems, meaning the CPU and/or GPU constantly perform at way lower than the claimed specs; or, their cooling systems are actually capable of allowing the components to perform at their claimed speed... making the laptop so large and heavy it might as well be a desktop.

Let nvidia worry about that, if they put that amount of RAM on the most price/performance GPU, they'll have to support their decision (or screw their customers again).

Honestly, I don't think the TPU forums are the best place to ask since there's very few of us who use gaming laptops or even do a ton of research into them. I do agree with a couple of the others that building your own desktop would be the best if you're not gonna move around a lot and you'll get a lot more performance for the price.

That being said, I noticed you had multiple laptops at very different price points so I was curious if you were just trying to find a good gaming laptop at any price or if there's sales going on at your local best buy that aren't showing up for me. Either way, if you wanted an easy way to compare and research gaming laptops then I highly recommend the youtube channel Jarrod's Tech. He's become a pretty fantastic resource in regards to gaming laptop research and has helped change the review landscape for the better. If you just want a list of good ones you can check his video on the top 5 best/worst gaming laptops and if you want to start researching the options around you then you can check out his 2022 gaming laptop tier list which should cover all your local options.

Also, depending on what you play, you'd also want to look into the different GPUs available in each of these and thankfully that channel covers those as well.

Should be upgradable?
Check it, system memory is affordable.

If there's one stick, buy another for dual channel.

I want a laptop I can use at work
So you play games @work ? must be nice :D

Cause your thread title says "gaming lappy", so which is it ?

Also of note, using a personal machine for work is a VERY, VERY bad idea... for a number of reasons.....

Anyways, my son recently bought that ASUS machine with a 3080, and I loaded it up with 32GB of ram, which does really well on all of his games as well as his everyday stuff like school work and such, but I would NOT recommend MSI, based on my experiences with their low build quality and flaky support....or Alienzware due to their over-pricing....

Gotcha, that makes a lot more sense then. In that case you should look into the thinner/more portable gaming laptops like those in the 13/14 inch class. Though, I will second what a lot of other people are saying here in that you should DEFINITELY get a work-only laptop in addition to your gaming laptop. There's some cheap ones out there like the ideapad 3 that get somewhat good reviews and are more than powerful enough for most work tasks.

I have the RTX 3060 G5 KC. Pic is what the underneath expansion looks like. Not sure if the KF is the same. Seems like it's missing the SATA 2.5 bay port from the documentation. They don't seem to have a download for the manual.

its only $20 to buy an extra stick of 8 gig memory... and its really easy to install it on that laptop. just remove the screws from the back, no wires to disconnect or anything like some laptops, that laptop I linked is very upgrade friendly.

Honestly, I don't think the TPU forums are the best place to ask since there's very few of us who use gaming laptops or even do a ton of research into them. TPU is not the best place to ask about laptops, most people on here will say "gaming" laptops are not good at gaming. The forum notebook review shut down sometime last year. Those where the forums to ask about anything laptop related. I miss it.

Here is my comment on which laptop, I would go with the MSI. Both of the Asus laptops are good, I've tried out the Asus Zephyrus 15 for 2 weeks, good laptop, but the gpu is only powered upto 80w, and but its priced higher than the rest.

I would never get an Alienware, you are just paying more money for the name "alienware", and I believe the Ram memory is soldered onto the motherboard, so you cant upgrade that. Overpriced piece of junk.

The MSI, my son has a similar model, the gpu will power upto 105w, decent cooling, but not wonderful like their GP or GE models, I have the GE model, but good enough. And you can go into their advanced bios and undervolt the processor for a slight performance boost, not overclocking but boost, since the processor is producing less heat so its able to maintain higher speeds for the same heat output. The price is the cheapest for what you are getting out of all 4.

But this MSI model has a 4060 and still good specs. I dont know anything about this model laptop.

I'd recommend looking into Lenovo's Legion line of gaming laptops. I've worked with a lot of gaming laptops and personally wouldn't consider anything but a Legion, they're fantasic

Cheap doesn't always mean best lol I want the best bang for your money!
Whats your budget, you never mentioned any kind of budget. You only posted links to a bestbuy store and asked what's better. Do you only want to buy the laptop from bestbuy or can it be another store. You didnt provide much info.

The links you provided, the price difference is rather large, from $1200 (on sale) to $2200. Thats rather a large price difference.
And cheap sometimes does mean better, I've picked up my current laptop because it was cheap and had 2 small dents on the lip. The seller sold it really cheaply, but he didnt know anything about laptops, good thing I do. The only thing I upgraded was the ram and SSDs.

If you like the Alienware, go buy it. Have fun with it.

I'd recommend looking into Lenovo's Legion line of gaming laptops. I've worked with a lot of gaming laptops and personally wouldn't consider anything but a Legion, they're fantasic
I've heard they are good, I was looking for one until I found my current one, coundn't pass it up.
