And cheap sometimes does mean better, I've picked up my current laptop because it was cheap and had 2 small dents on the lip. The seller sold it really cheaply, but he didnt know anything about laptops, good thing I do. The only thing I upgraded was the ram and SSDs.

If you like the Alienware, go buy it. Have fun with it.

I've heard they are good, I was looking for one until I found my current one, coundn't pass it up.

I run my own business and work on a boat offshore. I can be out for months at a time with lots of downtime. Please stop saying get a desktop there is no room for that plus I want to be able to use it on vacation and plane travel. I want a quality laptop wit and would like to stick with 15 inch and amd some since read it runs much cooler
There are mini motherboards at 17x17 cm and mini power supplies.
And mini cases. Basically faster/cheaper/upgradeable than laptop and still portable.

There are foldable keyboards. Flat thin monitors than you can paste on side of your chassis.
17x17 motherboards only have 2 ram slots and can take one NVMe drive.

Besides instead of putting it on your lap, you can sit on it and save space. :peace:

Lol interesting! What gpu, cpu, etc can it fit tho? I'm really not sure how this is a cheaper option considering you would need to buy each part that can specifically fit inside a tiny box...

You can put single/dual fan GPUs.

Here's K39 (4 liters)

1678275010799.png

supports 18.5 cm long gpu. upto 43 mm thickness.

This is K59 supports 24.5 cm long gpu

K77, gpu can be 28.5x4.5x14 (Length Thickness Width)
K66 gpu can be 24x4.5x14

K59 can't support this corsair psu. it can take 17x8x4 cm psu.
but k66 can take 12.5x10.6.5 which lets this corsair fit in.

I think if you want a powerful gpu and psu, u should pick k66 chassis.
So let's look at it again:

they can support any cpu. just search mini-itx (17x17cm):
Mini-ITX | Motherboard - GIGABYTE Global
They support normal 13th gen desktop cpu. LGA1700 socket.

Let's say you pick a 13600K (300$) which is much better than your Alienware 6800H and Asus 6900HS.
6750xt is 560$ and Zotac 3070 twin is 600$
Corsair SF750 is 170$
32gb ddr5-4800 is 100$

Gigabyte Z690i Ultra Lite is 150$. It supports 2 SSDs gen4, ddr5 and gen 13 cpu.
2tb WD SN850x in newegg 160$

Some 2k monitor from Amazon is 139$
And customers used it for work :D lmao
I want a laptop I can use at work and hook it up to a TV and also one I can use for travel on planes and vacation...I already own a powerful desktop for home use... I will check out the links you provided.
So you play games @work ? must be nice :D
so less sum. monitor 15.6" 2k 140$
ssd 160$
mobo 150$
ram 100$
cpu 300$
gpu 600$
psu 170$

that's 1620$. like your ASUS lappy. but Asus has 512gb ssd, rtx3060, 6900HS cpu and 16gb ram
besides, if you build what I said, you may find a 2nd hand cpu or ssd easily.

I like the one with the orange handle. So you know where that case can be purchased? Also, can these fit parts that would be on par with a laptop like the ones posted in the links above? I guess it'd be best to go with a amd cpu for heat purposes. Do these cases use tiny mobo ram etc can this be purchased from Amazon? I still feel like this is going to cost much more than an equivalent laptop that also comes with a screen....i mean just a 3070ti is around 400 and an amd cpu around 300 that's almost the cost of a laptop so I'm not sure how this is a better alternative lol

They're better than laptop. I mentioned 2tb ssd, twice the ram and rtx3070 with a cpu better than all your laptop choices.

You can search for mini-itx case:
here's K49 on Amazon:
it's 12.1" x 5.1" x 6.9" it supports the Corsair PSU I showed you. and can take 30cm long gpu.

Look at this one. It can take bigger mobo (25x25cm) and 31cm long gpu. You can even use AIO liquid cooler which makes your pc much quieter. You know how loud laptops are even when you're not gaming

It's 32x16x26cm
The K66 I mentioned in previous post is 25x16x21 cm
It has leather handle instead of plastic orange.
If you get the Corsair mini power supply I showed u, u can put a bigger motherboard and even enjoy 4 ram slots! And in future when u have money, u can upgrade your gpu.
Even rtx4070ti is less than 31cm long and the Corsair PSU can handle it. maybe even get a 13700K cpu later if you use Liquid AIO. can you do these upgrades with a laptop?

1678289397204.png

I mean dude, think about it. This PC runs cooler, takes ram and cpu from a normal PC. Welcomes 2 ssds, 4 ram sticks. It's like putting 4~5 gaming laptops on top of each other, but isn't that still portable? Not heavy like 5 laptops though.

I guess it'd be best to go with an amd cpu for heat purposes. Do these cases use tiny mobo ram etc can this be purchased from Amazon?
They use the same ram of a desktop PC. The motherboard is tiny but it supports desktop cpu.
And u can put 2 ssds on the mobo!

Here's the motherboard:
I still feel like this is going to cost much more than an equivalent laptop that also comes with a screen....i mean just a 3070ti is around 400 and an amd cpu around 300 that's almost the cost of a laptop so I'm not sure how this is a better alternative lol
I showed u the screen, see the Amazon link and reviews.
It's gonna be thicker than laptop, but still quite portable.
And if you want to game while you're on the boat, the laptop battery is not going to last much. So I guess you need an electric source anyway. A laptop always plugged in the wall is not really offering its portability advantage. So why not go a bit thicker and enjoy the benefits of mini PC?

This is K49 from Amazon:

1678290763803.png
1678290778712.png

This is S5 from AliExpress:
1678290700522.png

1678290856513.png

1678290968201.png

Imagine using liquid cooler. This case is only 32x26x16cm.
your Alienware is 35x27x2.5
So this case is like putting 6 Alienware laptops side by side.

1678291141091.png

1678293631869.png

i mean just a 3070ti is around 400 and an amd cpu around 300 that's almost the cost of a laptop so I'm not sure how this is a better alternative lol
so you say 3070ti is 400 and cpu is 300?
ok 400+300=700 for cpu and gpu

I said the 2tb sdd is 160$. four times the capacity of your Asus/Alienware laptop
32gb ddr5 is 100$. Twice the gigabytes of all your laptops
the tiny motherboard is 160$
the tiny power supply is 170$

ssd+ram+mobo+psu=160+100+160+170=590
add cpu and gpu you said 700$. now 700+590=1290$

The portable 2k 15.6" monitor is 140$
now 1290+140=1430$

It's still cheaper than your Asus and Alienware laptop. Including the screen. with four times more sdd, twice ram and better cpu. cooler/quieter/faster/not so heavy.

None?

IMO You'd be best-serverd buying a Professional / Business laptop w/ Integrated Graphics, easy maintenance and upgradability, max out the RAM and SSD(s), and get a eGPU dock + cooling pad for gaming.

You almost universally get much better build quality, and often much better warranty by buying a 'professional market' portable workstation than a consumer or gamer marketed unit.
Also, thanks to the United States' Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act of 1975, the manufacturer cannot invalidate your (potentially: multi-year, on-site, same-day service) warranty for any modifications or maintenance performed by you (unless you clearly damaged it in doing so).

I'd recommend looking into Lenovo's Legion line of gaming laptops. I've worked with a lot of gaming laptops and personally wouldn't consider anything but a Legion, they're fantasic
In 2021 I bought a Ryzen 5 + 1060 Legion 5 unit for someone, in lieu of their desktop. They were traveling and staying where they wouldn't have the same kinda space for a desktop setup.
-Upgraded the SSD and RAM first thing, and was absolutely amazed how easy it was to work on, and how sturdy it was for an 'affordable' 'gaming laptop'.

Still, I don't personally like the idea of a dGPU (esp. that's soldered in). Plus, there are other reasons I personally wouldn't want a Lenovo PC these days; still can't deny the Legion's value and 'build' though.

I thought the info was more than adequate.. I want at least a 3060 or 3070 unless there is a good sale on a 3080. I'd rather an amd cpu bc they don't run as hot as Intel, 15 inch screen, 16GB ram, gpu that can output 2.1 hdmi. Pretty adequate amount of info...

A desktop 3070 runs faster than a mobile (laptop) 3070ti

Here's a video of comparing 3070 desktop (PC/mini PC/normal/mini-itx) with a laptop 3070

Here's a thermaltake psu which is smaller than Corsair SFX750
May be you can pick smaller cases with this psu, cases that are less than 6 Alienwares.
May be you can buy rtx 4060 which be released soon

They have 850w with same physical dimensions.

May be you can just put the power supply outside of your case, just like a laptop's power brick is. The power supply has modular cables anyway. This way can have a smaller case.

A 3070ti desktop (including mini PC) is faster than 3080ti laptop. What a shame:

It doesnt beat it by that much, 10-20% at most.
