I'm not confusing anything. I'm not even sure why you are explaining this stuff exactly :D
As for a game that utilizes more that the default 6700XT bandwidth right now you can take a look at Hogwarts Legacy.
The scene of my latest save is pretty heavy outside one with volumetric fog and whatnot.
It runs with 47-48fps (1440p/ultra) when mem clock is 2.15ghz and with 45-46 when it's 2ghz.
It's a minor but consistent difference that should be easily reproducible.
I can imagine you'll get similar findings in certain recent titles like The Calisto Protocol, Dead Space Remake & A Plague Tale: Requiem.
It was just when you suggested twice as much RAM at half the clock, that's all :)

I haven't tried Hogwart's Legacy yet, nor the Dead Space remake. Callisto runs unaffected at different mem clocks for me - but I only have the 6700 on hand, I took the XT back to work and it's possible that the extra shader performance of the XT would be enough to push it over the 16Gbps limit. Or maybe not, because the 6700 only has 160-bit which is roughly in proportion with the reduction in shader count.

To change the subject, what are people using to edit the voltage curve?

RDNA's driver is just two dumb sliders now, and that's fine to get you in the general ballpark but you do lose some headroom because it'll be fine at max load in Furmark/OCCT but it'll crash if you push those same clocks in a lighter title - clearly the curve offset of the driver tuning doesn't quite match the underclocks I'm setting for lower loads.

Please help, I cannot decide - 6650 XT, 6700 non-XT or 6700 XT...
I have an old build (B450 Tomahawk Max, was Ryzen 3600, but 5600 is already coming, 2*8Gb...) and want to change my old RX580 8Gb to something that suits my 32" 1440p 164Hz monitor.

Me and my kids we don't game much (max of 8h/w for us all), so I'd probably go for 6650XT for ~300€ (sadly, currently jumped to ~320€, but I could wait a week), however I've read it will run only PCIe 3.0 8X with my B450 (so a big loss, right?), also 8Gb could be too little for the next 3-4 years (as I'm not planning to upgrade again earlier)..
Therefore 6700 non-XT for ~345€ probably would be better.. sadly, stocks are emptied and prices jumped to ~400€, that is the same (+-10€) as 6700XT costs.. o_O
BUT with the 6700XT (Sapphire Pulse, to be precise, because my case is not big), I'm afraid I'll need to change my otherwise very good TX550M PSU, so additional +100€ for only +10% more, right?
And we don't do multiplayer shooting (so +10FPS is not aim here), but we like good quality images for games like God of War, AC Valhalla, Cyberpunk (and would love to play Hogwarts Legacy) with no visible stuttering (in 1440p resolution).
So all in all, should I wait for 6700 non-XT to drop to previous ~340€ (if that ever happens :) hopefully, they are still produced, right? because strangely I see out of stock in many shops), should I go with 6700XT (with some undervolting perhaps? because it's really worth the current price?), or go with a 6650XT as I wouldn't notice big differences anyway?
In my opinion, if you want smooth solo game in 1440p, the 165Hz(? don't know if 164Hz exist) are not to aim here, if it can run the games you want in 90-100Hz in the preset below the maxed out one (as it makes no visual difference in 99% of games) you will have a great experience.
With that said, my 6750XT can run a lot of recent game in 1440p at 90-100 fps if i don't put all graphics at max. The most recent game i've played is atomic heart but it is actually a well optimised game and i can easily run it in Ultra settings ("atomic" preset is the higher one) at 80-90fps. From what i can see in TPU, hogwarts legacy for example run below 60 fps in max settings at 1440p on a 6700XT and need 14GB of VRAM. In general, for solo games, the graphics card need to be better than if you where a multiplayer gamer since in competitive games you don't care that much about how the games look. So the 6650XT is out of competition for me since it will be limited over time by the 8GB of VRAM. Try to see if you can find a 6700 or 6700XT for a good price or if you really want to be sure to run any AAA games you want for 3-4 years, go for a 6800 if you can find one but you will need to change the PSU, you should not be forced to change it with a 6700 but maybe with a 6700XT.

I have a 6750XT as well and I'm very happy with it's performance. Now I don't have the base or mid but I own a top tier version. Most companies have similar lineups. But after messing with it and a chatting with others on the forums. You should be able to overclock the base and mid tier versions to perform as good as the top tier version. But I did notice they tend to cheap out in some cases on cooling, thermal padding, and materials used. So that being said don't cheap out on the power supply and watch your thermal's and you will be pretty happy with this card.

Also I have been able to overclock my factory overclocked 6750XT to Core 2850/2950 Vram 2312 UV 1175mv and increasing my power percentage only up 10%. Big thanks to @Kodehawa with the assistance to help with the overclock.

Important questions to ask when chasing 1440p165Hz is "which games", and "what settings"?
1678115419337.png

If you look at the 4090 reviews, there are plenty of games where even a $2000 GPU isn't capable of 1440p165Hz. This is with a 5800X so with a Ryzen 5 3600 or 5600, you will find even fewer games actually capable of running at 165Hz. You also don't need to run at ultra settings - many games still look great if you leave textures at their best, "ultra" settings but turn down lots of the other settings to a mix of medium or high.

Realistically, if you have a 165Hz monitor you should probably aim for 90-120FPS and take advantage of Freesync/G-sync VRR.

Ah, I run mine at 1100mV so it won't clock that high. Crappy cooler so undervolting is a must.
I'm pretty sure it's not as crappy as mine (6750 XT reference), yet I don't undervolt anyway. :D Sometimes I think I should, but a 60 FPS cap does the job, usually. :)

Honestly even 60 is fine with VRR. You get a wide range of framerates that look decent when using a VRR monitor.
If chasing high refresh rates then it's honestly really hard to do so, I wouldn't try to chase it much.

Also that Borderlands 3 result is kinda shocking, I know it loves AMD cards, but I get ~100fps on BL3 at 1440p at max settings (minus Volumetric Fog, that's on medium)

Well... mine doesn't have heatpipes, just a large vapor chamber. 105-107 °C hotspot with 85-ish °C junction is quite common under full load. Can you say the same? :D

104C max hotspot though I had a different case with practically no intake. So maybe this is slightly better :D

Undervolt you will be happier. Adrenaline software will tell you the lowest safe point for your card. And it will check the safe overclock of both the gpu and vram. Make sure you also tune your fan and power settings.

Got yet another question I didn't find no clear answer over the Internet.

The card is a 6700 XT.
The issue is the complete loss of stability with fast memory timings (dead hangs, green screen included sometimes). This happens even with everything else @ stock.

Default timings cause no such bollocks regardless of the clock. Even 2150 MHz is fine with timings @ default.

What I tried:

• Lowering clocks to absurdly low values (500 MHz GPU & 500 MHz VRAM)
• Reinstalling Windows 10
• Installing a different version of Windows 10
• Installing Windows 11
• Drivers 22.5.1, 22.11.2, 23.2.1, 23.2.2
• Flashing another BIOS
• Underclocking the rest of my PC
• Installing the card in other PCI-E slots
• Installing the card in a different PC
• Tweaking other Adrenaling settings
• Summoning the Lucifer.

Does it 100% mean I got bad not good enough VRAM modules? Or is it some kinda bug and these fast timings are somehow too demanding even for the best VRAM chips ever and I can reconfigure that?

The auto undervolt option gives me 1175 mV, which isn't much below stock. Also, the fans spin a little slower, giving me the same temperatures. It's as if the card was purposefully designed to run this hot.

Fast timings don't do much anyway. I'd just leave them off and call it a day. :)

I'm pretty sure it's not as crappy as mine (6750 XT reference), yet I don't undervolt anyway. :D Sometimes I think I should, but a 60 FPS cap does the job, usually. :)
I have the 6750XT reference and i'm really happy with it. I've just limit the power draw and change the fan curve and it stay cool without a problem. What's your problem with it ?

Yep, it was the same for me, though instead of doing all this stuff I went "Oh, OK" and forgot about it :D
After all it really didn't seem to add any measurable performance increase...
Since we don't know what these "fast timings" are precisely or how they are calculated it's pointless to speculate.
One thing is for sure - you don't have faulty memory in any sense of the word.
As for the reason for the crashes I believe it's the ReBAR - if you feel like spending more time testing you can try turning it off ^^

They really don't unless it's 4K gaming. Every GBps in VRAM matters in such resolution. I get way less difference b'ween AVG and 1% lows whilst on fast timings, alas it's never stable.
I believe it's the ReBAR
Huh, now that's some land of unknown. Gon' test it.

Don't get me wrong, it's not a problem. :) As long as it runs within intended parameters, it's fine. All I'm saying is, it's quite a hot GPU at stock during full utilisation, with literally zero headroom for overclocking (which again, is fine).

I have undervolted my 6700 XT to 1100mV yet still maxed out the power target. Put a expansion slot bracket fan though dunno does it actually make any difference.

hey! i had the same looking 8pin 6pin extension, those are NZXT too? bought them when i had my Poseidon GTX 980 Platinum, and re used the 8 pin with the 1070 later, but since my Red Devil is 2x8 and no more stock on the 8pin, i swapped for the Lian Li Strimer.

also beware of the Corsaire ML fans ... all of those i had, 6 in total, developped a rattling noise (although they still lasted 3 yrs  ), what are the fans on the GPU cooling bracket?
(nice Arctic CPU cooler tho, Swiss brand hehe ... i feel bad for using an Enermax myself  )

so far so, super good ... perf in game is rock solide (heck the latest driver made my full mods Skyrim pure stable and more smooth @1620p60 ) this is golden (or i am super lucky  )

No extensions, cablemod's sleeved cables which I got when I bought the PSU used from an interwebz buddy :)

And yeah, my 6yr old ML120's which I have as top exhaust have started ticking, yet I don't even hear it if I don't put my ear next to them. Fans on the bracket are Arctic F8 Silent x2

nice, well the sleeving look totally the same nonetheless :D
Arctic F8, eh... excellent choice (i replaced the top ML140 with 2 Arctic P14, godlike and silent, the rest are Fractal Aspect 14 and Cooler Master Halo 120 on the CPU and back exhaust, all in the 1300rpm range light humming but not noticing unless it's the only thing running in the livingroom )

gonna check if my card UV nicely later ...
