I'll be signing off for tonight, however, I'll get some thermal paste tomorrow and reapply and update the situation. I'll also test with another PSU just incase - Thanks so far for all the help, I'll update as soon as I test out the situation tomorrow.

My 5900X did this and other things. Removing and reseating the GPU and RAM fixed it but only temporarily. After that every 8-10 cold boots, it would start with no video. Turned out to mostly be RAM instability. Replaced with a kit from the board manufacturer's QVL and most of the issues went away. Still occasionally did this on power loss / disconnection, so got a UPS. Occasionally my board and GPU RGB would rainbow cycle when off, but hasn't for awhile now.

Holy sh*t! And the discoloration of the PCB... Looks like you've been running very hot for a long time

Yep! I'm glad this happened all things considered, this was VERY overdue

Okay! I have cleaned it off, completely reapplied the thermal paste, and so far, after rebooting, temps are INCREDIBLY low in comparison to before. Going to test it with a load now.

I noticed similar (but less extreme) discoloration on my 5900X rig's CPU socket when I RMA'd the board previously. First they said they were waiting on parts, then they returned it "could not duplicate issue" :kookoo:

Did it resolve the issue? I am losing my shit over this. The problem started the day before yesterday when playing Destiny. HWinfo doesn't report anything unusual, drivers, windows updates, even removing my OC, checking cables, nothing has helped so far. I am not sure what to do now. I don't even have a warranty left for my 3090.

I had the same problem with my 1660 super a couple of days ago and my solution may be different from yours but it's worth a shot:

- get to command prompt by typing "cmd" in the search bar and run as administrator
- type "sfc /scannow" it is important to put a space in between the words

After that, it should automatically find corrupt files and repair them. Now, I know this won't be everyone's problem but its probably the main culprit, and by the way, I came across the fix by looking at event viewer and finding kernel power critical error.
